Lodge - Cast Iron 15" Skillet

Really good pan good for cooking was looking for a small Cast Iron Skillet. Most places had the large one and this one was just right. Only problem was the handle was not coated for heat resistance and you will need a pot holder for the handle. Otherwise good pan.

Well first off, the pan survived the rough treatment by the shipper, but the pan itself is beautiful! I was a bit apprehensive about using it because I have never had a pan that needs seasoning. But I sautéed some veggies and I am in heaven with how they turned out. Now I just need to find a good place to store it so that it remains free if dust and moisture.

Best cast iron skillet!!

At the beginning I was skeptical about using cast iron skillet, but this is one of 2 that I’ve got, and I love it!! No more sticky surface, and super simple to wash! After using it a couple of months it stills look like brand new, and apparently will last a lifetime! Thank you C&B!

Good product, but the seasoning is a pain.

It is affordable and big enough for almost anything! It works great to make three big steaks; there is probably room for four or even five big steaks. However, a pan this big is also very heavy, and all but requires two hands to lift. Additionally, the seasoning situation is a big pain. If you cook something that dirties the pan, and you need a scouring pad to clean it that removes the seasoning. Then it needs to be re-seasoned and it needs to be rubbed with oil after every wash. In the era of modern technology, I would hope for a coating that either stayed clean better or could stand up to a good scrub. Overall, I would say that it is a good product at a good price if you need a big cast iron pan.

Huge cast iron pan

I have been looking for a larger cast iron pan for when I am cooking large quantities of meat and this is the one! This is a great price at Walmart. It is very heavy and it shipped well with no damage because this is not carried in store. If you need to feed a large crowd this works great! It was a bit of a challenge to get it to warm through on my stove top because it is quite large and my burner was a bit small. I will use this in the grill next time. It is very heavy alone and then you add food, it is a heavy pan.

Lodge cast iron cookware hasn't failed to impress!

Takes a while to season but it's a well manufactured item. Love the size and the effect of using it over a regular gas stove or alternately a wood stove. Keeps a constant temperature that makes even cooking a breeze. We love this cast iron cookware. Lodge makes superb cast iron cookware... it inspires confident cooking always.I suggested this pan to my wife and she was rather reluctant at first, then as a gift to me ( I love her so much) she came home with this pan for me.Surprise surprise surprise, she statrted using it ( after seasoning it a few times in the oven) and now EVERYTHING she does is in the pan.I'm happy as a pig in a puddle! Great product!!!

Perfect pan, perfect size and perfect in Quality

Now this is a skillet Rapunzel would get an arm workout swinging it around! It’s the perfect size for my meal prep and I have more time out of the kitchen. Cleanup is a breeze and quality I can pass onto my grandkids one day. If you have the stove or oven for it, you need this!

Versatile piece of cookware

I find this pan is of the best size and has most uses on my gas stove in home. I can cook all kinds of meals from breakfast to dinner, from frying eggs to making vegetable stews. Its size extend the use to deep frying and grilling. I use it to grill burger meat, vegetables, asparagus... etc. Its size is good for deep frying mushrooms dipped in batter or frying a good batch of potatoe fries. I even make sandwiches using it, panini, grilled cheese, french toast. Sometimes I pop it into oven and use it as bakeware. Its size is perfect for upside down cakes, deep dish pizza, corn bread or Dutch baby... This pan has good weight to preheat well and bake evenly on stovetop or in oven. Best value one can get out of all kinds of cookware.This site has an extensive set of gadgets one will ever need for his/her home kitchen use ( of course commercial too ). IMO, highly recommended as the first piece of cookware for anyone who wants to become a home chef. Just a reminder : This pan comes well pre-seasoned but requires a bit of tendering after. The easiest way to keep it in best cooking condition is to clean out the debris under a running tap while it's still warm then wiped dry or dried on a hot stovetop after cooking; wip the entire interior clean using a piece of lightly oiled paper towel when the pan is heated up before cooking. That's it and it's quality is guaranteed to last one's lifetime or generations. Best investment I made ever. Last but not least: If one gets tired of indoor cooking, the investment is preserved by taking it to other cooking occasions such as tailgate party, camping or just backyard. Its ruggedness makes it a good piece of cookware regardless of gas, bed of hot coals or just barbecue grills.

Whether for Surf or Turf, this skillet is AWESOME!

You gotta love this heavy duty cast-iron skillet. Nothing radiates heat like it . . . whether frying fish, or smothering rabbits, the food cooks evenly and deliciously!
