Ive been wanting a deep cast iron skillet for years, but they are not usually easy to find at a decent price or decent condition. This deep cast iron fries up the best chicken in no time and Ive also used it for fish frys and beef stew cooked slowly in the oven. Every home should have a good cast iron skillet like this one!

I love this cast iron pan. It’s great for one pan family dinners. Cleans up fast. Came already pre-seasoned and with a lid. The lid also fit my old more shallow cast iron skillet (which never had a lid). Nothing beats a cast iron meal. Great investment.

The Lodge Deep Skillet with lid was purchased with one particular recipe in mind, but is fast becoming one of my favorite cast iron pans. The lid has a series of "nubs" on the inside which make it ideal for self-basting recipes. As with all good cast iron, this pan heats evenly and retains heat very well, eliminating troublesome "hot spots", and uneven cooking. The added depth of the skillet makes it an ideal vessel for stews, frying chicken, etc. Put simply, this particular skillet has found a home in my collection of cast iron, and sees use at least once a week now.

B4 buying I researched cast iron care. I’ve used this about 5x over past month and am very happy with results. When I start warming it, I also start boiling water in a separate pot which I later use to wash my cast iron and I find that since I’m washing while hot using boiling water and A brush (no soap) it does clean up really well and easily. I also dry and reseason immediately after. I’m enjoying how awesome it is at braising my meats.
The first thing I cooked was dried Great Northern beans in my new deep cast iron skillet. They were delicious with cornbread and tenderloin. Love it!!
I have searched for this size Lodge cast iron cookware for quite some time. This is best price I had seen. Have used both indoors and outdoors….absolutely love it! Will be looking to add more pieces to my ever-growing Lodge collection!!!
The quality of this pan is amazing. The cover was an added blessing. I've made everything in it from baked beans to a roast to a bread! Everyone should have one! I highly recommend it. I'm very happy with it! Thank you!
My husband and I purchased a very expensive set of new pots and pans for everyday use. We didn't want to use them for things like frying so we decided to purchase this skillet. We have used it twice in the last week and are very pleased! Not only does it cook evenly but it cleans up nicely as well. The addition of the cast iron lid was nice and will be used for oven cooking. Very heavy and high quality skillet and made in the USA too!
I got this skillet more than 6 months ago. And it was a success. I really like its size (perfect for two-four servings) and the fact that it has a lid, and still fits in a small oven. The skillet is very sturdy and easy to take care of. I am pretty sure I will be using it for many years to come.
