This is not simply the fact that yea the keyboard is backlit, but the great feature here is that the keyboard senses when your hands approach and then light up. Additionally, there is also a sensor that adapts to the lighting in your room to determine the necessary brightness for the keys. Another item I have to mention are both the ability to easily toggle between up to three devices as I am used to this with a Logitech mouse, but the added feature to this keyboard is a nice addition. Then also the "Logi Options+" is a great feature as it not only allows you to customize your F row, but also can act like a macro where the click of a button can be mapped to perform a string of actions. For instance, I have one that I click right when I login to my computer each morning that brings up a variety of windows for me.Overall, yea it may just be a keyboard, but Logitech has thought of everything here and then some from the aesthetics to the performance and each little added nuance. Whether you may be concerned with the appearance of your keyboard or the ability to efficiently type and get your ideas down Logitech has ensured that this keyboard will meet those needs and for that reason I would definitely recommend this keyboard to anyone looking for that perfect keyboard to pair with their Mac device.

So, after giving that one a month I returned it as well and decided to give this one a try after testing every keyboard in the store. I already had the MX mouse, so that was a bonus. (highly recommend that mouse as well btw)I have really been enjoying this keyboard. The keys give me a nice tactile feedback that is reminiscent of the mechanical board I have loved the past several years. Not the same of course, but so much better than Apple's keyboard.There are four specialized buttons over the numpad that are easy to program (with Logitech's software) to do just about anything you could want. It is super handy that I now have ChatGPT and screenshots using my favorite screen capture software with the press of one button compared to the usual series of clicks/key presses. It also has plenty of features that make it friendly to use with a MacBook - like controlling the brightness of the screen, locking the system, controlling volume, emojis, etc.There are features I haven't even tapped into yet as well, like linking automated task sequences to those keys. Theoretically I could program it to do everything I manually do on reboot/start up to be automated with a single button press... but given I am a lazy user that typically doesn't reboot until MacOS reminds me it would be a good idea at least seven times, I would rather map the keys to things I do multiple times a day.

The keyboard is very quiet and perfect for use in a crowded office environment.The Logi Options+ software allows you to easily pair it to a Logi Bolt receiver and you can switch between up to 3 computers/tablets/iPads with easy buttons near the right end of the keyboard. Logi Options+ lets you set layouts to match Windows or Mac as well as customize the backlight settings and update firmware.#Final thoughts#The MX Keys S is a great keyboard to pair with a Space Gray Mac and is easy to switch between multiple devices. The spherically-dished keys do provide comfort and accurate typing experience. Beyond that, the keys are also backlit and there are sensors that detect when your hands are near the keyboard to control this functionality to preserve battery.Speaking of battery, the keyboard charges over USB-C and Logitech estimates 10 days of usage per charge with back-lighting enabled and I've yet to have to charge in almost that amount of time.Useful shortcuts are located across the F-row of keys and include: screen brightness decrease; screen brightness increase; keyboard brightness decrease; keyboard brightness increase; diction start & stop; emoji menu; mute/un-mute Mic; playback controls (rewind, play/pause & fast forward); audio controls (mute, volume down & volume up).There are also shortcuts for connecting multiple devices which Logitech calls Easy Switch. Considering most Mac users also own an iPhone and/or an iPad, this makes it easy to pair your keyboard to these devices and switch back and forward by tapping the corresponding paired number setting (you can pair up to 3). So for instance, if I have my iPad next to my iMac, I can type on my iMac by pressing "1" on the Easy Switch keyboard and if I want to switch to my iPad, I can press "2" and after a second or two I'm ready to type on my iPad - and you can switch back and forward.Additionally there are also quick action keys to launch the calculator, take a screen snip and to lock the screen if you're walking away from your device.You can also automate repetitive tasks with Smart Options which lets you launch a sequence of actions with a two-key shortcut - i.e. if I press control + a then minimize my Safari window and launch Apple Music. I didn't try this out as it seems like in the amount of time it would take to program and remember these, options I'm proficient enough where it's quicker for me to just do what I need to do - sans keyboard options.My only two improvements: I do wish you could raise the height of the keyboard (a steeper incline), but the height is fixed. I also wish there was a native keyboard shortcut for the Mission Control view (I would get more usage out of this than say Emojis) in macOS and/or the Stage Manager view on iPad (could be the same key) and one for showing the desktop (could be useful on Mac and iPad as well). Technically if you download the LOGI Options+ app, you can customize the F-row keys of shortcuts so this is a more minor quirk.

They look, feel and work as perfectly as anything I have tried, and I have been working with computers since the mid-1970s.Over that time, I have seen and used every kind of keyboard and mouse that came along, and this combination feels great.The keyboard has a significant physical weight and stays put. The layout and keycap shapes make it a joy under your fingers. The backlighting and letters on keycaps ae perfect.My ONLY "complaint" is that the backlight goes off after a bit, so in a darkened room I sometimes have difficulty when I start typing, so I put my hand close to it to get the LEDs going. I leave it plugging in to a USB-C port so no worries about battery. Other than that, everything is roses with this thing!

The light level also adjusts automatically to the current light conditions. The keyboard uses Low Energy Bluetooth tech which means the keyboard runs for a long time without recharging. It also comes with a C-to-C charging cable that plugs right into my MacBook.
