A Tool Every Presenter Should Have!

If you regularly do presentations (such as PowerPoint), this handy device is what you need. Rather than requiring an assistant to advance the slides or trying to clumsily use a wireless mouse, this remote will enable you, the presenter, to easily do it all yourself while staying out of the way of the screen. You can start the presentation, go forward or reverse, or black out the screen. The built-in green laser pointer helps you to bring items to the attention of the audience. The laser pointer works best on projection screens, but has some limited success with large video displays depending on the angle of use and type of glass on the screen. Just insert the receiver into a USB port on your computer and you're ready to go. I managed a large conference center facility for several years and our clients really appreciated us having the R800 available. In fact, I liked it so much that I personally purchased one for use with my own presentations. Only one caveat: be sure to shut off the remote after each use to avoid prematurely draining the batteries.

Add suspense with the blackout function

1. It fits my hand - either hand - so snuggly that I can operate it unobtrusively. It also fits in my jacket pocket where no one can see it.2. The timer really helps me know where I am ... within the time limits. If my audience engages well, I know I have to condense part of my presentation. The timer is large enough for me to see, but because it's forward-facing, it's too small to be noticed by the audience. The vibrate function is great - letting you know how close to the end you are to help wrap up and ask for questions.3. The blackout function is cool. I can add suspense or hide my screen.

Cheaply made with factory defect, think twice before buying this one!

I am not sure whats going on with Logitech lately, but their products seem to continually be getting worse. I received this presenter mouse today, the packaging was fully in tact, the box was not damaged, but after opening I could see the plastic display screen on the front was popping up out of the body of the device, making it unreadable. The on/off switch seemed to be crooked and when in the on position the thing showed red and when off green, maybe by design but seemed backwards. I pressed the clear plastic display back in place, but after a few moments it started working its way back off. It was like it was missing glue or something inside that would secure it. I immediately contacted Logitech on their support page using the chat feature about the manufacturing defect, and instead of saying "sure we messed up at the factory let us correct" they told me to go through the vendor, which seems counter productive to me. I explained this wasn't a vendor issue but a quality control issue from the factory, you would think they would want to get it in their hands to see where their trouble spots may be and to prevent this from happening again if possible, all they said was it helps them to hear feedback in order to make better products...or something like that. Seems a company, especially one like Logitech, would want to get their customers satisfied quickly and resolve QC issue in a timely manner, but in my case Logitech wasn't interested. They were so disinterested, they left me hang for more than 5 minutes at a time between posts, on a chat session that feels like forever, but I am guessing they wanted me to just fade away. I did reach out to Newegg who sent me an RMA and will issue a refund, but what a pain and has turned me off of the Logitech brand! I think their customer service and quality of at least this product and some others I have been dealing with lately, are sub-par!

Device works very well and does what it is suppose
9 July 2021

The Logitech Presenter worked exactly as I expected it to work.I was about 85 feet from my laptop which behind me at an angle.Sometimes I was facing the front of the room and other times I was facing the audience.I did not use the timer function so I can't comment on that. I was giving a PowerPoint presentation and all of the PowerPoint functionality worked fine out of the box with nothing mew installed on the laptop. The fact that the USB dongle is stored within the device itself is very helpful. The little storage bag help prevent scratches when the presenter is placed into a laptop case or an equipment bag.

Excellent choice!

I bought this an hour before a big seminar, crossing fingers that it would connect to my computer and work properly. It did not disappoint!! It was simple to connect to 7 different speaker's computers. They loved the ease of use and the laser pointer. The countdown timer was also a bonus to stay within their appointed time slot. I would very highly recommend this!!

Excellent remote
9 September 2022

I have only used it to advance and rewind slides in a PowerPoint presentation, but it worked perfectly. It is comfortable in my hand and easy to know where my fingers were without having to look down at the remote. The laser was very bright, my dog loved it. I was not too far from my PC the whole time, so I cannot speak to its range. My only criticism is that the receiver (the part that plugs into the PC) is on the large size despite the packaging showing a symbol that would imply that the receiver is the smaller Logitech type. The receiver's size was more that of a traditional thumb drive. However, it does fit nicely in the body of the remote when not in use.

Good remote for presenters
13 February 2023

I instruct quite often and use presentation remotes frequently. Although most all remotes function adequately, this is one of the better ones. It is a little heavier than other remotes and feels solid in the hand. It can be used with either hand and the buttons are naturally at where your thumb would rest were it on top of the remote. It has the standard features with an additional lcd display screen with battery level and volume displayed. Can also use as a timer but I don't use that function. Highly recommended.

I owned the prior model of the R800 (which I loved immensely until a student stole it). This model requires 2 AAA batteries instead of the rechargeable battery that the earlier model had. The more unfortunate issue with this remote is that the green laser is not as strong/large as the prior model. I use my presentation remotes to both advance my Google Slides as well as point to frequent words in my classroom. The green dot on this presentation remote is not as intense/large/strong as the one on the prior model. I will very likely not keep this remote and return it to the store I bought it from because of this factor. The best thing about this clicker is it's plug and play - no config needed. The worst thing is that there's a lot of buttons - more now than with previous model and hitting one accidently during a presentation is possible. My partner uses this a lot and tends to want to put it in her pocket in lulls during her presentation so she has to turn it off to prevent accidental advances. Even the act of turning it off (side slide switch) can cause an accidental advance. I've suggested that she avoid doing that and just keep it in her hand always. So while it's a good and fully-featured clicker, the additional buttons require that the user MEMORIZE their functions and locations and handle the clicker very gently throughout the presentation. I've only used this once so far and it did well for my uses. I have a laptop just out of camera range, as a confidence monitor, then feed those images to the control board. This allows me to see the slides on stage, while the director can show them, or not, any time they are needed during the show. This allows me to be in control of when to show the next slide. What I don't particularly like about this is how large it is. I understand that when you are teaching live, it allows you to see the countdown timer easily. On TV, I'd rather have something which can essentially be hidden in my hand and not be as obvious on screen. Overall, well built. All of these are minor issues, and more for the manufacturer, as they design the next version. Overall, it is a solid performer and excels at the things you need...clicking to the next slide and seeing how much time you have left in your presentation.
