The Logitech M650 is very comfortable for users with small – medium hands, it is light weight and has customization options on buttons. First impressions were good with the soft materials and mouse ergonomics, it felt good in my hand so long time work sessions are very comfortable. Having the option to customize buttons via the app is a great feature. An example of this: I use cut and paste a lot, it's more convenient to do it from the mouse. You can also switch from line-by-line precision scrolling via wheel to fast scrolling (something I use for large spread sheets) also the fact that this mouse is much quieter than last one when it comes to click noise thanks to Logitech SilentTouch technology. There's no plug-in for rechargeable battery here, It runs on a regular single AA battery that comes with the mouse and has a 2 year life span. Overall, this a decent mouse, aimed at the productivity user needing a workhorse rather than for gaming; for that I use a corded G403 Hero. Logitech mice have been one of my favorites for years, I wanted a smaller replacement mouse for my older Anywhere mouse as it goes through batteries fairly fast. And once I saw the new Signature M650 was available in a smaller size I had to grab it. Unboxing: The mouse comes in a plastic clamshell that’s very easily opened by the perforated back. Inside is the mouse, and inside the mouse is your wireless dongle. There’s a battery already installed and you just remove a pull tab so it can make contact. First thoughts: The mouse itself is about the same size as the Anywhere MX, it’s a good bit lighter and has more of a pronounced “arch” to the middle. Use: After installing the Logi Options software and plugging in the dongle the mouse was instantly available “after turning it on first”. The software allows you to assign different functions to the buttons and tracking speed. The mouse also supports Bluetooth but I’m going ahead and using the dongle as I’ve always preferred the performance with it over Bluetooth. I really like the wheel, their new “SmartWheel” works great, this is where instead of clicking a button or pressing the mouse wheel to engage free spin you just flick the wheel and it acts like it’s spinning freely so you can scroll up/down quickly, then when scrolling normally it scrolls slowly, I never used the free wheel option as I didn’t like having to press a button/wheel to engage it. Logitech says this has a silent click, and they aren’t kidding, there’s no click noise at all, just a nice tactile click to it, but the side buttons definitely have an audible click to them along with a good stout tactile click. Not sure why they didn’t make the side keys silent but it takes nothing away from the mouse quality and functionality wise. I’ve tried the mouse on different surfaces to see how it responds and so far it works great on pretty much anything, just a glossy white ceramic tile gave it some problems but it works fine on any mouse pad or mousing surface I have. Conclusion: I really like this mouse it’s small, comfortable “for the size”, and easily fits into my laptop bag. They state the battery can last up to two years “wow” and I guess it will be a long time till I have to replace them. The batteries in the Anywhere MX lasted a month or so and I go through a lot of batteries with that one, this one should help save some money if the batteries do last that long. So if you are looking for a new mouse and want to be able to pick your size and even L/R handiness, a mouse that works great for everyday use and won’t burn through batteries then the new M650 line is one you really want to take a look at.

I bought this mouse to replace an old one I had for years that was started to go out on me. I saw the M740 recommended online but liked the shape of this one better once seeing them both in store. It wasn't as bulky omin the back and has more of the typical mouse shape I was used to. I have large hands and they had an L version for long right next to it but this was actually going to be mostly used by a female family member with smaller hands so I bought this normal M medium size. It seems like it feels a bit small to her as well, so I think the large option which was the same price will be preferable. What's nice though in the package they have it shaped around the mouse so in the store you can basically test and feel your self which is better. Before getting this mouse, please make sure to get a good understanding of its different models. There are 3 of them. The M650 is the smallest of them. It's larger than travel sized, but it isn't full sized. There is the M650 L which is the full sized mouse. Lastly there is the M650 L Left, which is the full sized mouse designed for left handed people. I'm left handed, but I've never had a problem having the mouse on the right hand side. So I was avoiding the M650 L Left, but I got confused by the model names. So I ended up getting the M650 (small). The M650 has nice construction and I don't feel like the clicks echo through the mouse like on the Pebble M350. The last few mice I've tried from Logitech follow the trend of silencing the mouse clicks. I don't mind the clicks from my M510, so the silenced M650's clicks took a little bit of getting used to. The M650 uses 1 AA battery which is included. It also has a Nano-USB receiver, but it's now the Logi Bolt USB receiver instead of the Logitech Unifying Receiver. I liked the old Unifying Receiver, it allowed me to use 1 receiver plugged into my work laptop and I could leave a mouse at work and a mouse at home and it worked flawlessly once everything was paired. I expect the same of the Logi Bolt Receiver. Logitech had to discontinue the Unifying Receiver due to security concerns and it may have taken them a couple years, but I'm glad they brought back the functionality via the Bolt receivers. While basic mouse functionality is achieved out of the box, to get the most out of the M650's features, you'll need to download and install Logitech Options+. At the time of this review, the M650 requires Logitech Options+ Beta version. Within the Logitech Options+ program you can fine tune the pointer speed, set the button functions. To pair additional Bolt devices, there is a button to add devices, but it requires a separate Bolt program to handle the pairing. The M650 also uses the SmartWheel. Normal scrolling works as you might expect, single notch scrolling gives you line-by-line control. But if you need to quickly advance through a page, you can scroll quickly by flicking the scroll wheel with your finger. The scroll wheel doesn't freely spin. It will catch on one of the notches and if you watch it closely, it will vibrate between notches for a moment. But the sensor is detecting the quick movement and interprets by advancing the page quickly. The M650 also gives you the flexibility to connect via Bluetooth, but I find Bluetooth less reliable than the Bolt receiver, so I stick with that. The only thing I kinda wish the M650 would include is the tilt wheel function. It made scrolling horizontally across large spreadsheets very easy. But it's not a deal breaker since I work across several virtual machines and the drivers to support the tilt wheel function aren't always installed in each virtual machine. Overall, I like the M650. I would prefer the M650 L, but that's my own preference. If I had to jump on the Logi Bolt receiver bandwagon, I would replace my M510 mice with the M650 L.

I have large hands and was worried this small mouse that I wanted to use on the go with my laptop would be too small making it uncomfortable, and thankfully it has just the right shape to make it comfortable for me. It also works shockingly well tracking on many different surfaces, such as my smooth desktop and leatherette covering, countertop, kitchen table, and more. I am using it with Bluetooth and have not ever noticed any lag or disconnects, and it includes Logitech’s unifying USB receiver so you can use it with that on a computer with no Bluetooth or simply if you want to avoid Bluetooth. It is advertised as having significant battery life from the single included AA, but there is no way at this point for me to know if that claim will be accurate. It does have an off switch on the bottom which is perfect for putting it in a laptop bag and keeping it from taking inputs. If you want a small, inexpensive, portable mouse that will work with just about any computer, have ultra-long battery life, and be extremely quiet and comfortable to use, this is the one. I highly recommend it.
Logitech Signature M650 Mouse Purchased in New York on Jan 9, 2023. Problems 1.I bought the Logitech Signature M650 Mouse so the side Back/Forward buttons would raise and lower volume. This is how my current mouse (Logitech M545 Mouse) works, and it works fine with the standard Logi Options app. 2.I loaded the Options + app and confirmed that the Scroll Wheel and L & R buttons work fine. Using the Logitech Options + app, I can designate the two Back/Forward buttons as Volume Up and Volume Down. However, when I try to operate those two buttons, they don’t work correctly. I am shocked that this process is so much more difficult to implement that the installation of my M545 mouse was.
Just when I started to love the silent switches on this mouse I hit the Back button on the slide and heard a loud click. The only reason it sounded loud was because the top switches are silent and you get spoiled with this very quickly. Also the feel and activation of the top switches are nearly perfect where as the side buttons are the typical ones you find on most mice today. Its still a great mouse but I sure wish Logitech would have used the same silent switches on the side buttons. On a positive note, I’ve never had a mouse nearly install itself the way this M650 did. I have used Logitech mice before so I am quite familiar with their fit and feel. This M650 is the medium/small size so its slightly smaller than a typical mouse and its geared for smaller hands but I also think it makes it perfect for laptops and Chromebooks. I like the fact that its small enough to sit on my laptop below the keyboard and not get in the way of my typing. The mouse has a very solid feel and it has some weight which makes moving it accurately an easy task. The sides have ridges built in and are made of a grippier substance so you get a firm grip with your hand resting over the mouse. Overall the ergonomics are perfect for what I like in mouse. The top two switches and the scroll wheel are quiet when clicked which is a definite improvement over other mice I have used however the forward and back switches on the side are as noisy as ever. Not sure why Logitech didn’t make all the switches quiet! The switches that are quiet have a very distinct activation so you don’t miss or need the clicking sound when clicking. The scroll wheel is also quiet and the detents are easy to feel so scrolling with this mouse is top notch. There are the typical five buttons and you can configure them if you don’t like the preprogramed settings by using Logitech’s app. To use the software you have to install the usb receiver which is stored next to the battery inside the mouse. The only issue I have had so far is that the battery cover can be difficult to open due to its small size. Since Logitech claims that you can get nearly two years out of a single battery its not an issue I’ll be fighting very often.

While it is _capable_ of connecting to two devices, one via the dongle and one via bluetooth, it is utterly incapable of switching between them. There is obviously no need for additional steps if using the dongle. It is possible to press and hold the connect button to instead connect via bluetooth. Pressing the connect button again gets you back to the dongle. But that's it! pressing again stays with the dongle, as far as I can figure out, you must re-pair via bluetooth if you want to use it with the non-dongled device. For my use case however, it has been absolutely fine. The small size is great for travel (though you can get larger, and left handed mice if you like), much lighter than the MX Master I was carrying around (which does have true multi device connectivity). The clicks are far quieter, which is tremendous for zoom calls when I am multitasking and don't want the other party to know I'm distracted. The battery life I can't attest to yet, but being able to swap out a battery and be at full charge again rather than keeping a charging cable with me just in case is a huge plus as well. If you don't need to swap between multiple devices, and you want: Silent clicks, small light form factor, no worry about charging, no need for dongles with bluetooth (or must use a dongle if you dont have bluetooth!), high end fit and finish, I would absolutely recommend this mouse.

Now that I've used it a few weeks, I am overall pretty happy with it. It has strong, steady wireless connectivity with good range on both Bluetooth and the USB receiver. The installation was quick and easy. After the initial driver installation, a popup appeared with the option to download optional Logitech Connect+ software where you can configure button options and customize the functionality beyond what settings are available in Windows. The buttons are (well, the main two) are VERY quiet! They're so quiet that sometimes you wonder if you actually pressed it or not in the second or two before the computer response happens. There are just a few minor issues that I've found that keep it from getting 5 stars. The first is while the main buttons are extremely quiet, the side buttons under the thumb are not. They're regular, standard clicking buttons and while they aren't overly loud, they're definitely not as quiet as the others. Seems like a bit of an oversight to not make all the buttons have a similar engagement and quietness, especially if you're using it as a selling point. Also, I feel like the side buttons sit a bit too far toward the rear and don't rest under the thumb where they can be pressed easily. Also, while this mouse comes in many options and the small version is only slightly longer than my old mouse, it's still a slight bit longer than I expected. It fits my hand well and has good grip with textured sides and tacky top surface and it doesn't feel big, but I guess to have two sizes of a product, I expected this one to be slightly more compact. Overall it's a good mouse from a brand with a good reputation for reliable computer accessories and I'm happy with my purchase. It fit exactly what I was looking for and the issues I have with it are rather trivial and don't keep me awake at night by any means. It's a really good product and I'd definitely buy it again!
