Coming from the Z506 I was not expecting a huge difference with the Z906, after all they are both Logitech. After unboxing the system I was surprised to find a remote which I initially (wrongly) thought was a nice touch but useless for me, more on that in a bit. I also really liked the control unit and appreciated that the volume control was not on a speaker. Set up was easy as can be and I was anxious to try out the 1000w sub. I powered on the system and started up Elite Dangerous. The game has outstanding sound design and I had parked myself in open space in anticipation of the new surround speakers. Firing up the the frame drive was even better than I had thought and the rumble from the sub was quite pleasing indeed. Firing up the the frame drive was even better than I had thought and the rumble from the sub was quite pleasing indeed. Next I started up Wolfenstein: the New Order and my experience went from great to terrible. While I could hear most things just fine I was unable to hear dialogue! I knew things were being said, I could see the subtitles! I checked control unit. Under stereo there were options for 3D, 4.1, and 2.1 modes. I knew the system was a 5.1 system and so clearly 3D must have been the corresponding choice since 4.1 was next on the descending list. Very confused, I pressed the button and cycled through the modes back to 3D but the issue persisted. I messed with the game settings a bit too and was considering something may be wrong with my fancy new speakers when I decided to google the issue. What I found was more confusion, but with a solution at least. You may recall that I mentioned that I wrongly assumed the remote would be useless for me. Well it turns out that the remote is a crucial and extremely important part of the package. For some reason, one that I do not think anyone at Logitech could ever properly explain if they tried, the remote is needed for 5.1 to work. While i had assumed that the 3D light being lit was an indication of the 5.1 mode being enabled it turns out that I was wrong. At this point you may be wonder if the options are 3D, 4.1 and 2.1 which one could possible indicate 5.1? None. The answer is NONE. All lights OFF indicates 5.1 and you need to use the remote to reach this mode, at least for the first time. Now, having pointed out the one truly dumb design decision I have to point out something I LOVE. There is a button labled LEVEL directly under the lights that represent the speakers on the face of the control unit. Pressing the button will allow you to cycle the speakers and if you use the volume adjust knob while doing so you can adjust the volume of the corresponding speakers with out effecting the rest. Brilliant. Just simply wonderful. Overall the sound quality is excellent and the option to adjust speaker volumes through the hardware is fantastic and I highly recommend the system for those who want easy to set up surround on the PC.

First off, I need to explain that the primary reason I bought these is for music production and editing. Not gaming or movie watching. I also do almost all of my "fine tuning" with Sennheiser HD 25's. That said, It's more than adequate for my purposes in that after I do my production and editing, I can get a good feel for what the public will hear when I do my DJ gigs by playing the tracks on these speakers. The biggest reason I like these is because of the way the control module is set up. All my IO jacks are in the back of an IP rack mount computer. To me, sound quality is like spaghetti sauce or pizza. What tastes great to one person may only be average to another. The sub woofer is more than capable of reproducing deep bass with a good quality sound. Likewise, the 5 other speakers (left and right rear, left and right front, and center) put out a surprisingly good mid and high end sound. Are they (fill in your personal all time favorite best sounding speakers)? Probably not. I will, however tell you unequivocally that I got a better than average set of speakers at a fair price. Although social media seemed to be all abuzz about these being "all that", I'd say they're "almost all that". To REALLY get "all that" would cost me thousands! Happy listening!

I bought these speakers to be used for a home theatre setup, they are surprisingly good and versatile. The input on these speakers is really good, it has all the connections needed to connect to a PC sound card and it has optical to connect to a TV/Blu-ray player. There are plenty of settings to configure the sound to your taste, the channels can be adjusted to 2.1, 4.1 (which allows the rear speakers to function as stereo too), and 3D (simulates surround sound on a stereo signal). The subwoofer volume can also be adjusted separately. There is also a Dolby/DTS indicator which is useful to know. Great non-HDMI surround sound option

I purchased the Logitech Z906 5.1 500 Watt speaker system for surround sound for both my TV and game computer. I'm giving it 5 stars for what it is, a really good computer audio system that also plays well with TVs and other audio devices, given you have the right hookups. Pros: Overall, the sound quality is very good. Much better than any sound bar I've had, and way better than the sad speakers that come in most TVs these days. The subwoofer can pump out a nice healthy level of bass. I always test bass and surround with the first Sauron scene from Lord of the Rings, and was NOT disappointed. The provided remote is functional, allowing you to change volume, input, and sound mode/levels. The subwoofer can pump out a nice healthy level of bass. I always test bass and surround with the first Sauron scene from Lord of the Rings, and was NOT disappointed. The provided remote is functional, allowing you to change volume, input, and sound mode/levels. The provided speaker wires should be plenty long enough for any small to medium room. My living room is 11x14, and they are just right for where I needed to place the speakers. This system has 6 audio inputs (NO iPod input or bluetooth, the Best Buy description is misleading. I did not purchase it for either of those options). 1 - 3-wire 1/8" Computer Audio Surround input (green/orange/black, comes with the wires for that) 1 - RCA left/right input (red/white) 2 - Optical Digital Audio input 1 - Coaxial Digital Audio input (orange) 1 - 1/8" stereo input (located on the control module) The control module has a large knob for adjusting volume levels, and buttons for selecting the audio modes and inputs. It offers various surround modes depending on which input and type of signal you are using. If the input is digital and you are sending a surround signal, it will automatically use "Decode". If you are using an analog or stereo input, you have 3 "Stereo" options to choose from: 3D (expands stereo in to fake surround, does a pretty good job), 4.1 (plays stereo left on the two left speakers, stereo right on the two right speakers, plus the subwoofer), and 2.1 (just the two front speakers and subwoofer). I easily mounted my two rear speakers using the Sanus HTBS floor stands. Cons: There are no EQ settings, so you get what it gives. I found the front speakers to be a little too "crisp" and ended up reusing my old bookshelf speakers for the front left and right. I would have liked some EQ options. If you are sending a true surround signal to one of the digital inputs, you can not use any of the stereo enhancement modes. therefore, if, say, you have your TV outputting Dolby Surround, and your Netflix show is only in stereo, you can't fill the surround speakers unless you set your TV to output regular stereo as well. Lack of HDMI input might be a deal breaker for some. I didn't need it. Final thoughts: Overall, a great speaker system for PC gamers, and a quite capable system for TVs as well, as long as you know what to expect. I've seen some questions about receivers, and this does not contain a receiver. All connections are on the subwoofer (except for the 1/8" input on the control module). I would recommend the Z906 to anyone who does not want to break the bank on a surround system while still getting a quality product.

My Review

I bought a set of these on Amazon and they worked for a while and then 1 speaker stopped producing sound. I filed a warranty claim and I specifically asked for 1 speaker wire because that seemed like the only thing that could be wrong (after swapping the "dead" speaker to other wires). Instead these guys sent me an entire speaker set. I was like uhm, OK... Anyway, I took a speaker wire out of the new box and got my first set up and running. With a rock solid warranty system like that I went on to buy more Logitech stuff-- a mouse, keyboard, and 2 headsets. The keyboard (G815) ended up having several keys randomly stop working and I filed a warranty claim for that and that was also replaced with a new one. I think one of my headphones is starting to go bad on me, but ... MoreI bought a set of these on Amazon and they worked for a while and then 1 speaker stopped producing sound. I think one of my headphones is starting to go bad on me, but that may be outside of the warranty window so who knows there. I really like the design of Logitech's stuff but it's kind of frustrating how the build quality or QC seems to be so poor. With half of the stuff I've bought from them developing problems I'd have no choice but to give them poor stars, but the warranty has bailed them out each time. So I guess my message here is maybe don't expect to find a product that will last a long, long time but with the warranty that's in place you should be able to get at least 2-3 years out of whatever you buy.

Nice Computer Speakers.

As an Online Video Editor (Finishing Artist) working remotely, I was looking for decent speakers to evaluate and do lite mixing of audio for broadcast. I was looking at everything from Adam to Yamaha, Genelec and others for a good surround set up. This system was pretty easy to install and start using almost right away. This was a very inexpensive way to improve what I had for $399. The other systems would've been about $2,000 including a USB DAC. I also sprung for a pair of speaker stands for the rear speakers. The Front and Center speaker are sitting on my desk. Couple of things I'm not a fan of? The speakers have a slight curve in the back and sit angled on a desk or speaker stand. Not bad, but not like the other higher end speakers costing much more. The Front and Center speaker are sitting on my desk. Couple of things I'm not a fan of? The speakers have a slight curve in the back and sit angled on a desk or speaker stand. Not bad, but not like the other higher end speakers costing much more. I thought there was a way to adjust the levels of the individual speakers like in a more expensive 5.1 setup. You can not set the speakers the way you can with better systems. All you can adjust are the output levels of the Center, Sub and Rear Surrounds. No reference mic is used to help with room acoustics. There are no settings on the speakers themselves. Not even the Sub for things like Near Field and frequency cutoffs. Speaking of the sub, I found that using the Computer Cable provided worked best for me. It plugged right into my motherboard. On the Sub, the cables are color coded to match the colors of the inputs on the back of the Sub. There are 3 cables. one for the Front Pair, one for the Rear Pair and one for the Center and Sub. Unfortunately, the connectors on the Sub are NOT marked! I had to do an internet search to find out that Green was Front, Black for Rear Surrounds and Tan for Center and Sub. Even a sticker on the Sub or cables would have been a help. Since I use these with Adobe Premiere, I found I spent some time setting up the preferences in Audio Hardware and Playback to get me what I needed. It turns out that I used Asio instead of MME for Device Class and the Device set to: ASIO4ALL v2. Had to download ASIO4ALL a while back to use with Izotope RX. All in all, for what I do, I'm happy with the system and glad I got it. If you're not an Audio Engineer and just want good clean sound from your computer, these are a good way to go. I purchased the system with confidence that B&H would accept a return if need be, and I used my Payboo Card to avoid paying Sales Tax. A good deal all around.

Once I took these out of the box I was pretty disappointed that the speakers looked kinda cheap and it really lowered my expectations for the sound quality. However I was more than impressed once they were plugged into my PC. Impressive BASS and a solid full sound. Music sounds fantastic from this little system and while the Subwoofer is putting out more treble than I would expect, I can't argue with the results. Really fills the room with sound! I needed these for my new gaming monitor that had pretty average built in speakers, and games sound great with these! Rain, thunder, environmental sounds, guns, all sound very immersive. So very much not disappointed for the $30 I spent! And the sound from the headphone jack is so quiet as to be useless. Real shame because that would have been a very useful feature. Long story short, this is an excellent little speaker set for any monitor that needs some serious sound on a budget!

Powerful 5.1 System. My 2nd Logitech Speaker Set
28 January 2023

Very powerful 5.1 system. I have been using the Logitech Z623 2.1 system at my bedroom computer desk for the past five years and loved it. I just set up a workshop in my 2-car garage (22'x22') and wanted a surround sound system for my PC. I use this setup to listen to music and watch TV in the garage. It is more than loud enough. I have never gone over 75% volume and it was extremely loud. The sound quality did not deteriorate at this volume either. The controller gives all of the equalizing and surround control settings you would need. I upgraded my PC's sound card to get more control and I love it. I would highly recommend!

Really the last great 5.1 PC speakers left!

My old Z506 speakers finally died after about a decade of constant use. These are SO costly and don't seem to benefit from a separate tweeter. I tried Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and while they sound great for gaming and video they really need a center channel. These sound fantastic. In fact, almost transparent. I hoped more applications would support Dolby Digital or Dolby Live but Win 10 and 11 abandoned this. I use both the optical connection and the regular (color coded pc jacks). They sound identical but the Optical will send uncompressed audio from DVD's and .mkv video files and the light will show it is decoding the stream. Otherwise unless you use a very old Realtek driver or have a Soundblaster Z soundcard you will have to live with "3D audio" which is still ... MoreMy old Z506 speakers finally died after about a decade of constant use. As far as far as gaming goes the positional audio is great even without paying for a Dolby codec. Are they worth almost $400?? Well they don't sound much better than the $100-$150 Z506. You do get a decoder and a digital input as well as multiple inputs, so if money is no object this is the way to go.

Top quality speaker system
12 October 2022

While these have been around for a few years now, they are still pretty decent for the price. Bought these to replace an aging 5.1 setup for my PC gaming addiction. Not that much choice of dedicated 5.1 systems for the PC these days, I suppose a lot of folks use their AV systems. Not viable for me, as my PC is upstairs and my AV system is downstairs. The satellite speakers are a decent weight and sound quality is reasonable. Top end would be sharper with dedicates tweeters, but a minor complaint. The sub-woofer is a decent size and provides all the Bass you would ever need. And the control console works well, either on it's own, or via the remote control. Far better system than I had before. I would certainly recommend this system.
