Swaddling has been around for ages as it helps to prevent the startle reflex. But forcing the baby's arms to their sides or over their chest prevents two natural behaviors that frustrate the baby and they fight to get their hands free. First - Over 90% of babies sleep with their ARMS UP around their head when placed on their back to sleep. This is simply a baby's natural and preferred way to sleep, just like in the womb! Second - All babies are born with the need to SELF-SOOTHE by touching their face and sucking on their hands as they did in the womb. This medically proven behavior is how a baby calms and falls asleep on their own. Traditional swaddling prevents this. The patented wings on the Swaddle UP allow the baby to both sleep with their arms in their preferred ARMS UP position and gives enough movement so they can SELF-SOOTHE, all while calming down the startle reflex. The snug fit from our 4-way stretch fabric of 93% Cotton and 7% Elastane creates a familiar and secure feeling just like in the womb to calm the Moro (startle) reflex. Does not contain flame retardants or any harmful chemicals.

Ok so backstory… when my newborn daughter would sleep, never failed she would wake up as soon as we set her down or when she startled. It got to a point where she was sleeping on my chest because I just needed some sleep. Well one night on a whim I purchased this when I was desperate and sleep deprived. I bought about 5 different types of popular swaddles. This was the only one that worked! I cannot say how much I love this now. It has been over a month that I’ve used it and my daughter sleeps through the night in her crib with this all the way through until her next feeding. These have been an absolute life saver. My son is 12 weeks old and no longer able to sleep in a traditional style swaddle as he fights so hard to get his arms up that he either wakes himself early or doesn’t go to sleep in the first place. The LTD arms up style was the only style of swaddle we hadn’t tried so I wanted to give it a go. It works for him for short day naps only. However he still can’t sleep through to the second sleep cycle as his arm movements keep him awake. Overall it’s good for up to a 45-60 minute sleep cycle but he hasn’t slept any longer than that in it. We have tried this both during the day and night over multiple weeks and it hadn’t changed. After trying all styles available we are now transitioning him to arms out swaddling instead.

Highly recommend

The BEST sleep sack for babies who like to sleep with their hands by their face. It’s the only swaddle that works for our newborn and calms her startle reflex. We tried many other sleep sacks and nothing else worked. Also love the zipper allowing for easy overnight diaper changes. Our baby is growing out of the size S so about to order 2 of the M. Definitely recommend having at least 2 on hand if this will be your primary swaddle. They are pricey but anything that helps the baby sleep better is absolutely worth the investment.

Pro: Allows for arms up, lightweight for layering, double zipOur baby girl has loved to have her arms up and out by her head since day one. She busted out of every swaddle blanket and the velcro ones we tried. These have been a total game changer and help her sleep well, while allowing her to still be arms up. Love the lighter fabric as she runs a little hot. Great for warmer weather but can easily put her in warmer pajamas underneath if needed as well! A little pricey but definitely good quality and worth it.

When my daughter was first born, we noticed she really liked to have her arms up by her face to sleep. We tried to traditionally wrap her in hospital blankets the first two weeks and she eventually got strong enough to get her arms out which gave this mama major anxiety. Looking for a solution, I came across this swaddle and decided to try it. It had been a game changer. She sleeps really well in it and loves being able to have her arms by her face. I appreciate how easy it is to do a diaper change. As we were transitioning between sizes, we tried wrapping her in a different swaddle that tucked her arms down and she HATED it. This is definitely the solution to a baby who wiggles out of their swaddle. First of all, I have to say that I don’t think this is for every baby, nor is it for every age. We tried this swaddle early on and she did not like it. We used regular cotton swaddles for a few weeks before she started breaking out of them, and then we used Velcro swaddles until she somehow managed to start breaking her arms out of those as well. She was waking up several times at night with her arms free and I was desperate to get her to sleep, so I tried this Love to Dream swaddle again, and she slept through the night for the first time ever, 8 hours! I would say definitely size up because we put her in a size small, even though it recommended the XS size, and it fit her perfectly. The stretchy material allows for longer wear as she grows, and the simple zipper design allows to easily and quietly get her in and out of the swaddle for diaper changes, etc. I know some people have had issues with this swaddle or it didn’t work for them, but we have loved using it for our girl! It’s a little pricey, but so worth it to finally get sleep!!

Really disappointing, from a Swaddle Up lover
6 August 2024

My 4 week old daughter loves her 1tog Swaddle Up from Love to Dream, so we bought this for the warmer weather. Both are a size small (3.5-6kg/8-13lbs), but the 0.5 tog is far too tight around the tummy. It's tricky to get the zip up, and when I do my daughter wakes, wailing. Have tried this several times, but no progress. My daughter weighed in at 7.9lb 1 week ago, so this should have fit with plenty of room. Unfortunately it's cut much, much more narrowly around the waist than the 1tog version (I've laid it over the top to check.)Really disappointing, an expensive mistake, and a real shame in this warmer weather.

I absolutely love these swaddle up sleeping bags! We really struggled with a traditional swaddle as we didn't know how tight was too tight or how loose was too loose. Baby's arms would always end up wriggling out because he wanted to sleep with his arms up and he'd kick a lot in the night so it would often unravel which was worrying for safety reasons. This product solved all of those issues for us and means that, in our sleep deprived state, all we have to do is pop him in and zip him up, meaning less chance of waking him up and less stress for us! The material it's made from is lovely and soft and it even zips from the bottom as well as the top, which is so useful for if you need to do a nappy change in the middle of the night as you can keep the baby snug in their swaddle from the top half rather than having to completely get them out and disturb them more than necessary. Since using this, our baby sleeps for longer periods of time as he feels nice and secure and it also dampens the startle reflex so he doesn't wake himself up nearly as often. It also comes with a guide on what clothes to put baby to sleep in when using this product depending on room temperature, which is really helpful as now I don't have to worry so much about him getting too hot or cold.TLDR: This is a fantastic product, great quality and I would recommend it to anybody!

During naps, we noticed our baby always slept with her arms up so we tried this swaddle assuming the position was her preference. After a couple nights, the swaddle had broke skin around her neck. As her arms move during sleep, the fabric rubs on her neck. In addition, we later learned having arms above the head for long periods of time could impede gross motor development. It's not a natural position to be in! Lastly, we had an unopened box for one size up and tried to return it but Love to Dream would not accept it. Then tried to sell it on Poshmark and they reported it to have it taken down! Not a fan of the product or company

WORTHY OF ALL CAPS REVIEW

I do not usually write in all caps but this product deserves all the praise. We got one last week and our infant immediately started SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! 6-7 hours and then another 3-4! Total game changer in our house. I wish I had gotten one sooner. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND especially for those who notice their infants tend to sleep with their arms up and break out of normal swaddles. I immediately bought a second. I plan to buy every version of swaddle this company makes. I want to meet the person who created this and give them my personal thanks!!!
