After purchasing a Down jacket for colder days I decided to buy a Mac in a Sac. Arrived quickly, lovely colour. Looks good on, true to size. When tested it kept the wind out, didn't make me hot or sticky, the hood was great. I've only given 4* as haven't used it in heavy rain yet. My only complaints are: no hook inside the Mac to hang on a peg which would be handy as folding it up into the Sac isn't always an option. Also, when it's taken out from the Sac it's very creased. Not sure how to get rid of the creases or just put up with them. All in all, very satisfied and would recommend.

I have spent a lot in the past on waterproof jackets and even when they've been from good companies who've replaced them when they let the water in, they never seem to retain their waterproof properties for longer than a year. I've tried re-proofing, the lot. I was really happy to discover Mac in a Sac - for a reasonable price they retain their waterproof qualities for at least a year and are pretty sturdy. I do a lot of walking in all weathers am very happy with them. At this price, when they do eventually 'go' at least you haven't spent loads in the first place.

I have had a few of these sorts of raincoats and for its price, this is excellent. It packs down to a very manageable size and has loads of features that make it compete favourably with more expensive jackets from an adjustable, stowaway hood and adjustable hem to good protection from the elements and reasonable breathability. If I'd change anything (or add) it would be that it stows into it's own pocket rather than into a sack (which risks being lost) but then I guess it wouldn't then be a 'Mac-in-a-sack'.

Today was the first day I needed to wear my new jacket. It rained all day so it was tested pretty well. I bought the item to go over my old Berghaus. After I had been outside for a few hours I found it was quite good at keeping me dry, however my Berghaus was damp around the cuffs and down the front of the coat. Not sure if the water had come through the zip or the seams? I will be interested to see how it fairs this week as more rain is expected.
This is a basic emergency shell and should be treated as such. Of all the low price packables on the market this is probably the best and works well if you don't expect too much from it. It's not suitable for use in serious weather and shouldn't be used as a mountain shell. The DWR isn't as good as I was expecting which means water doesn't bead up and roll off the jacket in the way that it would from a more expensive gore tex or equivalent jacket. Also the hood design is basic.Having said all that, if all you require is a lightweight shell to chuck in a bag just in case without spending a fortune then this is a good option. I'm pleased with mine but recognise its limitations.
My hobby is landscape photography, so I go this as an 'emergency' waterproof that I could keep in my bag 24/7, without worrying about it taking up too much valuable space or adding to the weight. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected it to be, and as a result is all but unnoticeable in the front of my bag. The fit is great - There's more than enough extra space in the fit to allow you to layer, without it being too baggy over just a t-shirt. Conveniently (for this review, anyway!), the first time I went out after purchasing the jacket, I got caught in an unexpected shower. Popped the jacket out and within a few seconds, it was on and keeping the rain at bay. It did the job flawlessly, and it's really easy to get unpacked in a hurry! When the rain stopped, the jacket dried in about 5 minutes, so I could pack it away again without any worries.Overall, I couldn't recommend this jacket enough! It's absolutely perfect for what I wanted it for, and I'll probably be buying a polar jacket for the same reasons when the weather takes a turn!
Hasn’t been long since I received my jacket but I used it on my dog walk with light rain and moderate winds. It performed well. I was dry after an hours wearing and very little condensation inside. Living in Wales I have yet to see how it stands up to torrential rain and strong winds. For the time being I will put it in my car for emergencies. Overall. very pleased hence 4 stars but would consider 5 stars after use in heavy rain.
Purchased the medium (if wearing thick under clothing I would opt for large) ideal fit if you are wearing a t-shirt as bit of a snug fit otherwise. Not marking it down for this, as I only wanted a quick fix if the weather turns whilst hiking. I purchased with the matching trousers. Well made & feel confident in remaining dry on an outing. Both items very space efficient & super light..
I like this jacket a lot. Easy to pop into a backpack for summer walking in the Yorkshire Dales. I'm 6 foot 5 inches, and the XXL fits really well - good length in the body and arms. The design offers a good level of ventilation, it's tiny when rolled into the sac and adds little weight to my load. While I've not had it on in rainy conditions yet - it only arrived two weeks ago, I have used it to cut out the wind - and it does a great job at that. Came quickly (48 hrs) from Northern Ireland.
This is a super little jacket, very lightweight and will fold down very small. I tried it today, kept the chilly wind out, didn't make me hot and sweaty, the hood was great. Colour is very nice, bright but not over the top. I've only given 4* as not tried in rain yet and if I had a tiny criticism it would be that a hook for hanging up would be useful as an addition to the Mac...it's not always possible to keep packing into its pouch...I would rather be able to hang it up when not in use. Highly recommend and may well get another in a different colour.
