Great Rain Pants - worn them in the rain and they keep me dry.

These pants were great! I wore them through 5 days of torrential rain on the Overland track and I did not get wet underneath at all. I paired them with gaiters and Scarpa Terra boots and I did not get wet feet at all. They were easy to get on and off over my hiking boots if necessary. The elastic waist was comfortable and I could use the adjustment belt to make them tighter if needed. Definitely an essential purpose if you want to stay dry.

These pants split down the taping on the inseam the first time I wore them. I took them back to Macpac and they offered to replace them or give me in-store credit. As another reviewer mentioned, they only have one pocket and it can't be accessed while wearing a pack.
Buy your regular size, they are still loose as designed to go over pants. I bought from the measurements and ended up with 2 sizes too big so they were massive and had to be swapped. I use these for cycling in the rain/frost and find them great, a little restrictive around the knees but keeps me warm and dry.
They are ok and very comfortable for light rain but after heavy rain there is no protection. I had thought waterproof meant waterproof but was proven wrong when I used these and it was actually raining good and proper. Was disappointed actually and now looking for a better product.
These are great. I've had them for at least 5 years, and used them for tramping the Milford in snow & rain, and Te Araroa amongst other trips. I'm 171 cm tall and the length is great for tramping boots and trail runners. I don't find the pocket an issue - if I'm wearing these I'm also wearing my jacket with big pockets, and it's too wet to have my phone in my shorts or pants' pocket! Also the sizing is fine - I just bought my normal size and they go over my tramping shorts. After all this wear they have a tiny, pin head size hole in the seam on one leg, which I'm happy to patch so I can keep using them for many more trips to come.
These pants are such a letdown. First of all, they run short -- I had to buy 2 sizes up just to get a pair long enough for my legs (I'm 175 cm tall). Secondly, THEY DON'T HAVE POCKETS. There is only one pocket on the right rear, which is super impractical if you're wearing a backpack, because you simply can't reach it, let alone store anything in it. The material is flimsy and frankly these pants look and feel like I'm wearing a circus tent. Just awful. Not the quality you'd expect from the Macpac brand. In terms of actual waterproofing, they were okay... but the fit was too awful to even justify their function. Too big up top in the waist and abdomen, with a ridiculous belt that will certainly break after a few uses. Not enough leg hem. Disappointing in more than ... MoreThese pants are such a letdown. Disappointing in more than a few ways.As if that's not bad enough, Macpac refused to accept the return after I wore the pants one time, even though they were in brand new condition. This should not be the case -- if a customer uses a product and discovers its uselessness (as I did with these pants), Macpac should honor the return. Their return policy is not customer-centric -- it stands to benefit Macpac and not its patrons. I'll be selling the pants on Facebook Marketplace.Start to finish, don't waste your time with these.
Yet another Macpac product that was completely unfit for purpose, what has happened to this brand? From the waist belt which broke as I put them on for the first time (on the trail, too late to take them back) to the holes in the seams on the very first day that got progressively worse, soaking the pants I was wearing underneath in 1 degree cold, these are not worth $20, and will completely let you down when you really need them.
Pants were good, the zips at the bottom are good if you are putting them on over shoes. They kept me warm when cycling in the wind. The sizing seemed right.
