Great pack for the price and the carrying harness is superb as always with Macpac. I do have a couple of improvement ideas. A section for the water bladder, all I could find is a loop at the top of the pack where you can feed the hose through, the bladder sits loosely in the pack. And it would be very handy to have hip pockets for a muesli bar or tissues. Other than that, the pack is amazing, fits in everything you need, Tent, sleeping bag, mat, clothes, food. Perfect for multi day hikes.

Comfy pack for a 4 day trip

I bought this pack for the Milford track & it was really great. I packed it in the morning we left from Queenstown, dropped into Macpac to check I had it fitted right, the staff were fabulous & helped me tweak it a bit. In the 4 day tramp I had no shoulder or back pain. Total pack weight was 11kg. Rain Cover rolls out of zip at top - easy to get out & put back.

Excellent Pack!

I bought this in a Boxing Day sale two years ago and it's the best pack I've ever had! Have taken it to the Kawekas, National Park, Hollyford and more. Even slid down the scree on the side of Mt Taranaki and it didn't get damaged at all :) Pack is completely waterproof, extremely durable and just the right size for overnighters and up to 5 day tramps. It comes with its own rain cover, which is super handy. I got the S2 - I'm a petite woman, but find it fits me perfectly. If I had one complaint, it would be the back isn't as breathable as some packs - but having a sweaty back is a minor issue!

Super comfy, fantastic front opening to access middle/bottom of pack and easy to use hydration bladder section with little loops to keep it secured.

FIRST IMPRESSION / MINOR DETAILS OF THE BACKPACK.
1 December 2021

Overall, this backpack design definitely has been well throughout in terms of user experience. The bottom of the backpack is split into 2 sections, however, there is a zip that you can undo to basically combine the section together with the secured locket so the divider will not be in the way. There are whistles on the buckle of the shoulder strap as well, which is a bonus. The weight of the backpack is not the lightest, but for the price, it's pretty good! If you manage to get it with a discount, it's even better :)Finally, a backpack back that also provides women size as well. This helps heaps with the shoulder strap, making a difference around the neck area as it won't be rubbed into the neck consistently. The downside of this backpack, in my opinion, is that there are no side pockets on the hip strap which is what I'd prefer to keep my side snacks or little bits and bobs. There are, however, additional features that allow you to hang hooks on the back of the backpack, allowing more space and quick access if needed. If you use a hydration bladder, it will work with this bag but keep in mind that there is no proper slots for you to place/hook on to.Come with a free cover, which is located on the top of the backpack for quick access which I won't complain about. Though, it'd be nicer if the choice of color is more settled, as it doesn't match the backpack design at all. That's it for now, hope this review is helpful for anyone interested.Keep in mind, I have not yet tested the product on the field, this review is merely on the first impression upon recieving.

Great basic pack
19 March 2021

First overnight hike and I needed to carry 4l of water. The pack had plenty of room for both mine and most of my 10yo daughters gear. I think I could adjust it better for my back but was great otherwise! Especially as I carried 18kg in it.

Heavy Pack, Where is the water bladder part???
9 April 2023

It is extremely heavy, but comfy but where the hell is the water bladder holder or place for it? this pack has been great but its becoming a pain and honestly i will need to look elsewhere it stayed hydration bladder compatible but everyone i have asked about this ant find where it would go :(

Heavy but good quality
4 April 2022

I needed a good tough pack capable of handling heavy loads as I hike with my kids and carry the bulk of the gear. Pack was comfy and lots of pockets which I like to keep all sorts handy for the kids. Only negatives are that it's pretty heavy and I would have liked pockets on the waist band.

Love the pack
29 June 2020

The length of the back of the pack was perfect for me. Sits very well across my hips and I'm 165cm tall. Big enough for a 4 day tramp, and enough pockets for my hydration pack and other small items. Also love the colour. Only been on one tramp so far and it didn't rain so I haven't tried the rain cover - but handy to know it's there when I need it.

Two thumbs up
3 February 2022

Bought for my son to use with for Outdoor Education and walking the Milford with us. He's a tall skinny lad but we have adjusted it to fit him comfortably. He carried his full share of the load with only small grumbling. The cushioning is fantastic and the frame very adjustable. Lots of outside pockets for storing stuff and a great rain cover built in (which we needed one day on the Milford). Would happily recommend and buy again.
