Very nice puffer jacket. Nice finishing. Comes packed into its own pocket, no need to have a separate bag and having to keep an eye out for it. As with all new puffers some of the feathers coming out but hopefully over time it'll be less and maintain its poofiness

It is a comfortably soft, warm jacket. However, as other reviews have indicated, it sheds down and feathers like crazy. 4 weeks into wearing it, and it is still losing lots. Not just at the seams, but through the fabric itself. I do actually wonder how much fill is going to be left by the end of the season..

Fabulous jacket reinvented since my last sundowner 10 years ago...Warmer too and handy having the.poclet to stow away in as my old one had to stow in the hood.Very good universal hiking down jacket. .

Really warm jacket, much warmer than the Halo. I rang and spoke to a lovely staff member at the Macpac Adventure Hub Brighton before purchasing online. I was looking to upgrade my size 8 Macpac Halo, and finding it wasn't keeping me warm enough. I am heading to Iceland in August and needed something warm. She recommended sizing up to a 10 to ensure that i have enough space to wear layers underneath, and also helpfully explained that for the down to work most effectively, the jacket can't be tight or the down 'stretched'.I am happy I went with the size 10.The only thing that would make this jacket 5/5 is the smell - it's got a slightly 'barnyard' smell to it. I've not even got it wet yet. I hope this smell fades with some time.
Absolutely love MacPac jackets but this is the first time I have ordered on line. Unfortunately the description of the jacket said Persian Red for colour and as you can see, in the photos it definitely looks Red, but the true colour is Hot Fuchsia Pink. The outer material is also quite thin so you can see all the down and feathers through it.Plus the jacket is the same size as my previous one, but it is much bigger so perhaps the standard sizes have changed.Overall a great jacket, but will I buy another jacket on line, no, I will go to the shop. Too much disparity.
This is my second Sundowner Jacket, this time with a hood. I absolutely love my first Sundowner (green colour) which is at least 10 years or more young and slowly showing it! So I decided to invest in another one in a beautiful "Atlantic Deep" colour. I found the outer fabric appears thinner than the previous one but it is also a bit softer and quieter (I trust that the strength of the fabric will be the same as before), wonderful to wear.
This is by far the worst jacket I have ever bought and for the price I expected so much better. It sheds feathers like crazy and said feathers are pointy enough to create holes in the jacket - I've had this jacket a week and I honestly feel like I'd expect this out of an older jacket that has been washed multiple times. Super disappointed as it is warm otherwise
I like the fit, the cut, the colour, the warmth. Colour description Persian red was accurate. Persian Red is a deep pink colour. The main issue is outer fabric is not quite dense enough, a few feathers do get out, fabric is slightly translucent and so dark and light feathers can be seen. This is a tradeoff between fabric weight and downproofing. I would be happy for fabric to weigh a few extra grams.
Very warm - lightweight material tho. I bought this to replace an old macpac jacket which had a water resistant material on the outer. This one is a much much lighter material - obviously helps keep weight down but i do wonder if it will suffer from abrasions... so far so good tho. I got the size 10, it's still fairly bulky in packed size but the warmth is significantly more than the uber light options (which pack much smaller). On clearance it was a good deal.
There is lots to like about this jacket - it is soft and cozy making it comfortable and warm to wear. I love the colour (I purchased Atlantic Deep). However, the feathers are coming out of this jacket at an alarming rate. This is very disappointing. The fabric also does not seem very durable nor is it as water resistant as one would expect from reading the product description. Don't count on the 'water resistant' properties of this jacket. The fabric around the neck and face area also seems to be a sponge for soaking up the oils of your skin so it discolours quickly. I've had this jacket for 2 weeks and have worn it almost every day and while I like it, I don't feel the quality is worth the price tag.
