4.5/5 - a great workhorse machine

The upside is that I'll never have to consider whether I'll overload the 4200XL, and I don't really mind its counter space or cupboard space (significant), because it's working nearly every day.Other than grating, I've chopped vegetables, herbs and nuts and made pesto, hummus, other ... MoreI really want to dock only a fraction of a point for incomplete cheese grating. The little recipe book that comes with it is really good and was emboldening for getting grips with all the accessories.I'm washing it up by hand as I haven't got over viewing its arrival like the apparition of a minor deity. It's easy to clean. Some other reviewers have commented on getting spatter in the other bowls when using the mini one. With one early exception, that hasn't been my experience. It isn't necessary to have the midi bowl in to use the mini bowl, so there's absolutely no need to have all three bowls in the firing line at once (to be fair I don't remember this being specified in the instructions). There can be a bit of learning to do on what is an appropriate amount of different food stuffs in the mini bowl. I have made all my condiments in family quantities in the small bowl and done all my grating in the midi bowl and the big bowl has remained as clean as a whistle. I tried chopping two large onions in the small bowl and ended up with onion water in the big bowl. Fine; I haven't repeated the mistake.Final thing, my one year old hates the noise of my stick blender, but is just interested by the Magimix. I wouldn't call the Magimix quiet, but it does sound softer and smoother - less jarring than the smaller machine.

My 30 year old Magimix finally gave up the ghost and I realised that I couldn't do without one so I invested in this new model. The engine is very powerful, the attachments well in advance of the old models and I find I am using it much more. As an instance, I was very chary of whizzing up soup in the old machine because it would fly out and splatter unless the mixture was very shallow. The 4200XL has an insertable collar to prevent this and I made a large concoction this morning with no splashes. Chopping, slicing, blending are all much easier - mayonnaise in a trice and hollandaise too. A helpful booklet that includes both instructions and recipes is included. As any reader can probably tell, I'm in love.PS Magimix guarantees 30 years use, so my old machine ... MoreMy 30 year old Magimix finally gave up the ghost and I realised that I couldn't do without one so I invested in this new model. We bought this to replace two separate large kitchen appliances, which have served us for almost 30 years. The family is now smaller, we entertain less, I have arthritis and need something smaller and less cumbersome, but efficient. This magimix has made excellent dough, excellent cake mixes, chopped and liquidised as needed. The size is suitable for cooking for 2 to 4 people. I haven't really tested the vegetable cutting blades, but everything else is excellent and easy to clean, put together and take apart. The recipe book has helped me to adapt my old recipees to this machine by providing examples. There are also some fun French things in the book.

Good but quality of the bowl is disappointing
4 January 2022

This is Magimix number 4 for me.The great thing is the powerful motor. The most disappointing is the plastic bowl. Always they degenerate. Often it is just a small lip which breaks off so the lid will not stick in a position which allows safe operation. Sometimes it is more fundemental. Replacement bowls are not cheap! Why can't we have a stainless steel bowl option like the commercial versions?Of course it doesn't replace your normal mixer. And it is poor for small quantities, or a faff to use the small bowl. Also disappointing that the bowls are not dishwasher proof, although you soon incorporate early washing-up into your routine as the dirty used components take up a lot of space in the kitchen!

Heavy duty and simple to use
23 August 2023

Have had a smaller older magimix before, so wanted much the same sort. Just 3 buttone to control so easy to use. Was a decision between the 3200 and the 4200 but I wanted slightly larger one so chose the 4200. Then found out that this is the smallest for the juicer and spiraliser attachments, so a good choice even if accidental. Wanted to use it in the dishwasher but actually not needed to yet as mostly processed dry foods rather than cake mixtures or dough. These will come soon.Have ordered a thicker slicer and grater to make good salads. I also wanted the julienne for courgette (had one before) but the new ones are too thin - stir fry only.It makes chopping some vegetables a breeze and can experiment with some new attachments. Magimix Food Processor
9 July 2023

It is so nice to be able to purchase a small appliance that is not made in China. This machine is made by a reputable company. It is a very well made appliance. Powerful motor. I use my food processor primarily for chopping vegetables and for doing pastry dough. The only thing that prevents this from being a perfect machine is that it does not have an optional flat cap. The top with the feed tube is a pain in the behind to clean, and makes it harder to store on the counter, where it needs to fit under the top cupboard. Overall, this is a great food processor.

What an amazing machine
9 January 2023

What an amazing machine! I've had a Magimix for over 40 years, used it a lot for all kinds of different things and the motor was still perfect but, not surprisingly after all those years, the plastic was cracking and breaking. So, I decided to take the plunge and treat myself to a new one. It has all the accessories I could ever need and, most of all, I love the three bowls. Small, medium and large and the different sizes of feeder tube. Thank you Magimix!
