the only reason I purchased the 3 C cell, was of the smallness. I have three different sizes of the Maglite flashlights and was willing to give this one a try to put in my Jag glove box. The two D cell ones are okay, but this one just seems about right. The on off turning seems to have been mad better over the years as with this one seems to glide between on and off. Other than the usual well made versions that Mag lite offers this one is none the less. I didn't give it a 5 star just because it's a notch off of being classed as the best.

I bought this flashlight expressly because it requires C cells and not AAs; I generally find that AA-powered units do not shine a strong enough light for my purposes. In addition to a stronger beam, this flashlight offers the advantage of being able to vary the beam from narrow to broad with a twist of the collar. Also, it feels sturdy but is not overly heavy.

Good flashlight. I like the smaller size than 3D or 2D. 3C is light in my pocket, very bright and the light coverage is good and full when using flood beam. I would rather have an on off switch so my focal point is saved, but at least there is no switch to go bad. Just rotate head and light turns on. Also no spare bulb in the end cap, but should not need one for a good while.

This is a very cool light for the price, and more than bright enough for most tasks. Mine sits in the glove box where it will stay, a second for the kitchen will follow. This light is easy to use, and goes from flood to spotlight at a short twist of the head. However, unlike other C and D cell Maglites, this one has no push button switch, which means it lacks a momentary on/off capability. So, this eliminates it as an option if the buyer needs a light for tactical purposes. I would like to see Mag Instruments offer a version with this capability, preferably in the form of a tailcap switch. Also, include the batteries. This isn't Walmart's fault but they should not leave the factory without them enclosed. Finally, a polymer version would be very welcome, especially ... MoreThis is a very cool light for the price, and more than bright enough for most tasks. very bright light . draw back is best live my batteries last only two hours of runtime . aside from that good light, very compact. better battery life would be nice, but i think it is due to the intensity of the led 177 lumens the light is a high draw light , so stock up on batteries. maybe others have had better luck with battery life.
Typical Maglite product, excellent! I've been using a number of Maglight flashlights, both C and D cells, over the past 25+ years and have always been impressed with their build quality. And I would 100% recommend their LED range to anyone requiring a reliable flashlight.
Before buying a Maglite flashlight check out their website for important specs including, hours of battery life, weight, length, settings, lumens. I own this lite, like it, but give a look to Model ML50L 3-C Walmart has a super price on a super performer. Batteries represent the majority of weight in any C or D cell flashlight, the ML50L 2-C being 2 inches shorter and lighter my favorite.
Quality product. Ideal for my needs. I would have preferred an on/off button rather than a twist action to operate. I missed this when looking at the specification before buying it. Had I realised this I would probably not have bought it. It was probably more expensive than it needed to be but I went for the name. There are cheaper products out there.
This flashlight is a usability and ergonomics failure. A job that should only require one hand, requires two. I didn't look closely and assumed this would have the push button switch like the larger MagLites that I own. This is a really, really bad design that simply shouldn't exist in this day and age. The 21st century is about smart designs that make our lives easier. Making a simple task more difficult just isn't acceptable.
For a start, I Googled "John Lewis torches" and got to a page on JL's web site that told me there were NO torches! I then entered "torches" into the search field on that page and some came up. Wierd.Secondly, it doesn't tell you whether batteries are included or not. They are not.Thirdly, it doesn't tell you what type of batteries are needed. Admittedly the code for the product includes "2C" but I didn't notice that, and even if I had, I didn't know that was meant to indicate the battery type. Only once the product was delivered did I find out the battery type, and had to go out specially to buy some. If I'd been told at the time of ordering, I could have bought the batteries ready for the arrival of the torch.Fourthly, it doesn't tell you how many batteries are ... MoreFor a start, I Googled "John Lewis torches" and got to a page on JL's web site that told me there were NO torches! Is that the "2" I wonder and maybe "C" is the battery type. Perhaps, but why not make it clear.Fifthly, no lumen rating is specified either on the sales page or on the product itself, not that I can find anyway. It's brightish but not dramatic.Sixthly, the spread/focus facility works but when it's spread, an ever-larger unilluminated hole appears in the centre. Not good.So all in all, not impressed. Not impressed at all. Sorry.
