Bought this in 2019 as a Christmas present, taking it down today for resale. Very typical chinese kit dollhouse. I started the assembly project with a good wood glue and my own hardware, and plenty of time, as in anything made in china requires. As stated here, instructions are of no assistance. During ts usage it stayed against an interior wall for support also. I can say it did hold together well the last 4yrs. and tuning it up for resale, the only parts that I observed that didn't holdup was the roof. You can NOT pick the unit up to move it by holding onto the roof !

This set up was not that easy. First of all when you’re putting it together it does not have the holes lines up properly. So we had to fix the holes to line up with the other holes in order to put the screws in to hold the parts together. This was a big issue because we had to fix it properly, and some of them were barely fixable, but we made it work because it was Christmas Eve and couldn’t just return it or make it be fixed instantly. They should make the product better. Secondly it takes a long time to put the product together, which was not an issue, just make sure you set aside some time to put the dollhouse together. It took us about 4 hours to put it together. All of the parts were there so that was a plus. It is also very sturdy so that is also a plus. ... MoreThis set up was not that easy. Third, who the heck makes a doll house and puts a nursey in an attic and doesn’t put a stairway to the attic for the nursey to be accessible. When my 5 year old daughter woke up today she was so excited to see her dollhouse she has been wanting. And she got ger barbies for it and started to play with it. Then she asked me how she was supposed to get her baby from the nursery because there was not stairs to get to her babies nursery, so the baby was stuck there. Shame on you KidKraft for allowing a 5 year old to notice that! I know children have imagination, but still, you should use a little more creation and add another set of stairs for children like her that notice! I know she isn’t the only child! With a few corrections there would be more stars!

Cute but disappointing.

I am disappointed with the dollhouse I received. Definitely not the KidKraft quality I have known and come to expect, having purchased other KidKraft items in the past. The "floor boards" of the home were warped so severely that it caused the dowels to be misalign when trying to secure them to the outer walls. It also makes it so the furniture does not sit flat - everything is on a hump. My other complaint is that the pictures on the wall were torn and peeled off in some spots. Overall, once assembled, the house is of course cute, but not very functional and causes frustration for my children while playing, everything is tilted. I will proceed with caution when/if making another purchase from KidKraft - the quality was not there as it has been in the past.

Great dollhouse that is easy to put together!
23 May 2018

My kids love the Charlotte Dollhouse! This is another overall win by KidCraft! Assembly: Not including furniture this piece had 25 total pieces, so not overwhelming at all. It took me a total of 46 mins (not bad!) to assemble with a basic handheld Philips head screw driver, no other tools were needed. The package advertises " EZ Kraft Assembly" which essentially means there are a few plastic joiners pre-installed to the pieces that really aid in assembly time. The joints are essentially little plastic tabs that help hold the bigger pieces in place while you put it together. This makes the overall products sturdier and helps alleviate the need to balance pieces while screwing them together. The included instructions were easy enough to follow. This makes the overall products sturdier and helps alleviate the need to balance pieces while screwing them together. The included instructions were easy enough to follow. Like any flat pack project there are pitfalls to look out for like making sure the walls and floors are facing the right way (i.e. not putting it together to learn you put a piece in backwards and now bathroom floor is in the bedroom). Not sure how to avoid this other than putting a this side front indicator on the pieces, but when it comes down to it just paying attention generally keeps it all straight. Quality: Like anything KidCraft it is solidly built for the price point and this is a brand I trust. The one issue I came across was that the front white roof piece had some pretty rough spots around one of the edges, nothing I cannot live with but I was a little surprised that it made it past quality control. Design: This is a good looking dollhouse the wood accent pieces really set this one apart. My kids love that there is a nursery in the attic! My one complaint with the attic is it is a little dark because of the roof (Maybe a skylight would help?). Also the furniture design is fantastic! They really went all out with the details of the furniture, the little designs on the bed and chairs really contribute to the overall warmth of the house. My kids love this house and have been playing with it nonstop!

A lovely dollhouse. Good value for the sale price. My preschooler is a huge fan, especially if the mystery of the attic which she isn’t tall enough to reach yet. I love that it closes up since it currently lives in our living room. The rooms are perhaps a little small for the furniture but that’s a grownup assessment;) I am a huge fan of kidskraft because of their customer service and the fact that they make replacement parts available even when a dollhouse is past the warranty period. This dollhouse is beautiful but there were some possibly nit picky quality things. This dollhouse is beautiful but there were some possibly nit picky quality things. The attic doors are super cheaply plastic and fall off their hinges (better than snapping I guess), the outer house trim doesn’t lay flush and a fair number of the walls had the wallpaper chipped or peeling along the edges (most of this ended up hidden once assembly was complete). The middle stairwell isn’t quite long enough to be snug so it snaps out of place easily which causes more damage to the wall paper flooring and once piece of the deck cracked upon assembly. I’m confident though that if I pursued it with kidskraft they would replace all the necessary items if needed. Most of them are small enough that it’s not worth the hassle and my 3.5 year old couldn’t care less. In terms of assembly, the directions were a little difficult because they don’t show any interior details so youre left to experiment if something is supposed to be the first floor or the third. We turned to the BUILD app about half way through and it helped a bit. It took two handy people 3.5 hours to assemble but 30 of it was spent looking for two pieces of hardware that had been wrapped in with the furniture. Overall, it’s a great dollhouse but I was slightly disappointed with the quality.

Modified the Dollhouse and it is absolutely lovely
7 April 2020

After months of searching, I decided that this 1:6 scale house for Barbie was the best deal. Originally, I wanted the Real Good Toys Estate house or Real Good Toys Victorian Townhouse which are beautiful, but 3 x more expensive. This grand anniversary dollhouse had everything that I needed, but the color scheme was not working for me, so I took the time to spray paint the house a pale blue and kept the white trim. I painted the red doors white to offset the light blue. I also hung wreaths on the windows and doorway and put a topiary tree near the door. The result was gorgeous. I modified the floor plan in the interior of the home to add more room to the dollhouse. It turned out wonderfully.PRO(S) Beautiful workmanship. Very good quality and sturdy. I modified the floor plan in the interior of the home to add more room to the dollhouse. It turned out wonderfully.PRO(S) Beautiful workmanship. Very good quality and sturdy. Even though I wallpapered and repainted the inside of the house, I did admire the original artwork. I had ordered some custom furniture on Etsy that didn't match the original artwork inside. Love the working lights on the outside (2 ) coach lamps, as well as the working windows. The wood is sturdy and beautiful. Love that the house is similar to English dollhouses in the sense that it opens in the front. The musical piano is especially nice. This is a good pinterest project that you can customize for your child or yourself. I have received many compliments on the way I painted and changed the color scheme of the house.CON(S) The biggest con is the color scheme. The colors are too loud and garish for my taste though I understand that many real life victorian homes are painted in similar colors. However, for a dollhouse the colors are overwhelming. The house is time consuming to build, but when finished it is worth it. Also I was under the impression that the back of the dollhouse was painted due to an advertisement I saw f. I was disappointed that the dollhouse wasn't decorated in the back of the house like it was portrayed in a neiman marcus Christmas ad . Also the doll house only has a little bit of siding. Out of the 6 panels, only two panels had siding. However, like I said above once built and painted the dollhouse is exquisite.

Much better than Plastic
19 December 2020

My 8 yr old has been begging for a dreamhouse for her birthday or Christmas for the last two years. I just could not bring myself to spend close to 200 on a plastic house that I knew would end up broken. There are very few doll years left for her and I found this on sale for 120. It is beautiful and I cannot wait for her to see it Christmas morning! The pictures made me a little nervous because It was hard to see how 12 inch dolls would fit. It it is HUGE and more roomy than any dreamhouse would have been. The house and the accessories will fit many dolls at a time. We have a 7 month old kitten and he has enjoyed getting in the house! I ended up watching a YouTube video to get an idea of how it went together before I jumped in. My 15 yr old son and I were able to put it together in around 3 hours. It is hard to judge the time because we took breaks and also didnt put the garage together until the next day. The handles to the garage doors were the worse to try to screw in. I ended up stabbing myself with the screwdriver.I also took the advise of another review and wrapped the boxes of accessories for her to open. She can enjoy setting up her house the way she wants.I know that when she no longer wants to play with dolls, we can pass this on to someone else who will enjoy it

Not great
26 December 2022

The design is cute, and the size is perfect for a smaller bedroom, but the quality is severely lacking. The stove front was cracked and bent, many of the edges were scratched up and missing paint, there were gouges and knicks all over, and one side edge was so sharp I sliced my finger open and had to sand the whole thing down before my daughter could play with it. I bought this thinking it would be better quality than the plastic Barbie houses; unfortunately, its not.

Ruined Christmas
