Make Up for Ever Artist Color Pencil #612 Dimensional Dark Brown

Honestly, this box generously sponsored by Influenster and Makeup Forever, in exchange for my honest review, could not have come at a better time. It came a few days before my birthday and it contained a full sized black eyeliner, something I regularly use, that I was already running low on. Perfect timing! Plus, with the festivities of my birthday, Halloween, and my anniversary, I had even more extra opportunities to wear note my feedback of this eyeliner. As with the few other Makeup Forever products I’ve tried, the quality is very good, the black colour is very nicely pigmented, as I have shown in the attached photos in different lighting, and it did not bother my sensitive, contact lens wearing eyes at all. The pencil is quite soft, and super blendable. Very easy to work with. I did take one star off because it did wear off a bit after about 8-10 hours of wear, but that was during Florida heat, while running around Disney Springs all day. Since I was reviewing the product, I did not stop and do touch ups, as I normally would. So all, in all, that’s quite good! I did cry at one point, and it smudged a bit, naturally, but not really too badly, considering. Will I buy this product again? Definitely! I want to try this in a green and a purple colour next.

So I tried the JLO lip look from her YouTube tutorial today and I honestly love it but while I’m at it let’s review these three items, make it four…… For reference my lips are in pretty decent condition considering the harsh cold I’ve suddenly been experiencing here in CT, they are a little dry but not at all cracked or peeling. I did not prep my lips prior to the application for the purpose of seeing how it sits alone. I have normal skin that is just a little dry in the winter months and the only other product I am utilizing here is my concealer. This is a great concealer, I have extremely sensitive skin and eyes, my eyes water often, and as I mentioned before I have really dark circles. This concealer does not budge when my eyes tear up, it does not cause irritation, it isn’t drying or cakey, it doesn’t crease, it retains a more natural texture and offers great coverage that is long lasting. It is creamy and spreads easily, and has no fragrance, I highly recommend giving it a try. Product Two ✏️: Makeup Forever Lip Liner in 508 Totally taupe, this is a very creamy lip liner with excellent coverage and color! Applying it heavily or more lightly will render a difference in shade. A brush will feather and blend the color out just as long as you do it while applying because once it dries, it sets. It is long lasting and truly doesn’t fade out in the way that many of my other liners would; in fact I have not found one comparable. Product Three four 👄: Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream in 03 Honey Waffle 04 Cookie Jar: these colors are gorgeous, I applied the cookie Jar color all over my lip and the honey waffle color in the center, Jlo mentions in her video that she applies the shade fenty glow as well when she is more pale in complexion (I have not tried this shade considering this is the lightest I’ll get and I get pretty dark in the summer with just the sun.). This is not resistant to ANYTHING! It transfers, but if you love a good gloss it shouldn’t be a problem. It is glowy, smooth, and ridiculously hydrating…..your lips will look immaculate, you lips will look full, and healthy, and thank you.

(Incentivized) I was so happy to be receiving my very first Voxbox from Influenster and Makeup Forever of the artist color pencil in up and down tan! I’m so glad I received the color I did because not only did it look great as a lip liner but it also worked as a full-on lip color as well if you shade in your lips completely which is super easy because the formula is super rich and creamy which I love. One more trick is you can also use it as an eye color! I did it and it looks amazingly different but beautiful, I will be doing my eyes like this in the future and I will be repurchasing this artist color pencil from Makeup Forever. I feel like this Up and Down tan is a staple because it goes with so many lip colors and looks good alone or with just gloss. Go get your color today and feel like a real artist!

Firstly, the pencil is made of very durable wood and it's super easy to use. I wanted to try an eyeliner color, so Whatever Black #100 was the obvious choice. It's typical of most new pencils by providing a very precise tip, which made it very simple to apply. It glides fairly well without the need to apply much pressure. Unlike most pencils that require a few touch-ups before creating my preferred look, I only had to apply it one time. Considering I always have a battle with loose skin around my eyes, this was definitely a Win Win! Cool Concept, could be better...

The makeup pencil is a great concept for a multiuse product. I was really excited to try it! I received the Endless Cacao shade, but with my olive complection and purpleish lips, the color was a muted and cool brown. On my lips as a liner, it looked cute but subtle. I tried it as an eyeliner but the color didn't contrast my skin enough to be noticeable. It is well pigmented, but probably just not the right color for me specifically. The pencil tip did crumble as i was lining my lips which was a little dissappointing because that means it needs to probably be sharpened often but it didnt come with a sharpener. I also found the formula to be dry like eyeshadow not creamy like eyeliner or lip liner. Other brands only charge about $6 for a eye/lipliner while make up for ever is charging $30...seems steep for the quality of the product...

Fills a gap in my collection

I bought this specifically to use as eyeliner/smudgey shadow but I have been playing with it on my brows and lips and I love it. I love Merit’s 1990 signature lipstick but have struggled with it from time to time because it’s so sheer yet pretty dark on my fair skin. This pencil is the perfect compliment to it to add some definition. So if you already have 1990, or are looking for a lipstick to pair with this liner, that’s a great combo. On me it’s bordering on vampy in some lighting but I love it in the fall for that super cool toned 90s grungey brown. As far as my intended purpose, eyeliner, it’s pretty much everything I was looking for. It sets down quick but not so fast I can’t smudge it along the outer corner of my lash line. I feel like if I had to I could just pack this pencil and a lip balm on a trip and make it work.

Formula is great

I got this in the latest lip kit from Sephora and I was excited because those are what got me into lip liners in the first place. I’m only giving it 4 stars because I really don’t like actual lip pencils that I have to sharpen and prefer the mechanical ones I can just twist up. Aside from my personal packaging preferences, the formula of this is fantastic. It is super creamy and easy to apply. I like to fill my lips partially in with the liner and use a lighter lip color on the inner part and this liner has the perfect formula for doing that. I wouldn’t describe this as being a rose brown though. It’s definitely more of a neutral brown tone when applied. Could just be how it shows up on me, but I love this shade regardless. Greatly versatile but needs some improvement

I really like the endless cocao shade. It is the perfect shade to use for my eyebrows. The shade is also very pretty as a lip liner and works well as an eye makeup pencil. It lasts a while and doesn't smudge too easily. I love how versatile it is and how many different ways this specific shade can be used. It makes it super convenient in that regard. My only complaints are that even though it is advertised as having a precise tip, after the initial point is gone after using a couple times, it seems to lose it's precision. The lines it makes are wider and harder to be precise without having to constantly sharpen it which is not only a hassle but makes the pencil itself not last nearly as long. Another semi complaint would be that When I use it as an eyebrow pencil, when I draw lines with it, a lot of the time when it glides over hairs it makes the hairs themselves appear darker than the rest of the color that I'm applying. So the hairs stand out in a negative way. Especially if i don't have my eyebrows completely groomed and plucked. Even the smallest blondest hair shows up darker than everything else and brings attention to my stray hairs. My last complaint is that sometimes when applying, even if I'm doing so with light pressure/the same amount of pressure for the whole line, the pigmented line can show up uneven and clumpy. Some parts of the line get clumps of the pencil pigment.

Despite the deep black color, it can easily be blended out for a smokier or more sheer look, or left as is for something bolder. The formula is very smooth and creamy, it glides right on with no tugging or dragging like some other pencils do which makes it much easier to work with.
