Intense palate of mulled spices, dark caramel, and molasses, almost reminiscent of an aged dark rum or silky cognac. It has a delicious concentrated sweetness to begin with, followed by a lingering grassy finish that really makes this liquid stand out.

Maker's Mark 46 French oak staves is great juice for under $30. The bourbon notes are all there with a noticeable smooth and oily finish. Give it a try. Personally neck pour is always the hottest and doesn't let the full bouquet of flavors oxygenate and expand, unlike the middle to the bottom of the bottle I believe is the best juice.

Even while I enjoy the original Makers Mark, I believe Makers 46 to be superior. It has more richness, smoothness, and fragrance. This whiskey is perfect for enjoying on alone evenings when you want something special to keep you company. This superbly produced bourbon will be enjoyed by drinkers of whiskeys like Eagle Rare, Woodford Reserve, and others. Highly suggested.

Maker's 46 is my go-to bourbon whiskey! It's always available and it's always around $30. For the price, this is the best bourbon you can find, in my humble opinion. It's smoother and not as 'spicy' as the original Maker's. In a blind tasting with bourbons twice its price, it always performs well!

Maker’s 46 levels up on the standard Maker’s Mark by hitting all of the same tasty flavor notes of vanilla, cake, red apple, and caramel, but is smoother all around, with less alcohol burn despite being 4 proof points higher. And it’s still delivered at a very good price. That said, it’s just a tiny bit over-oaked for me to truly love it…those French oak staves with which the bourbon is finished are quite something! But the oakiness won’t matter if you dress this bourbon up in an Old-Fashioned.
This is the Makers that Changed my Entire Opinion on the Brand- The Standard Makers isn’t bad at all but I find it to be a bit boring & That caused me to Overlook all the other Variations of Makers Mark …. Until a Few Months AgoWalked in looking for some other bourbon that was sold out & ended up trying a small 375 bottle of Makers 46 after hearing good things about it online ….. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY….. Now I Have About 2 Gallons worth of empty Makers 46 bottles on the bar …. ITS THAT GOOD !
The 46 starts a little heavier than the basic Maker's Mark, while retaining the typical bourbon flavors, but with a bit of cinnamon. It finishes with a leathery tobacco, that I think should linger a bit longer. However, the added cost over the traditional Maker's Mark is well deserved. I would, and have, bought this a few times now, and will continue to recommend it to my friends.
I recently made a Curve Side Purchase and was quite happy with the website and the nearly instantaneous message letting me know that my order was prepared. The delivery person arrived with my order less than five minutes after I arrived to pick it up. The only thing I can say is that the bottle of bourbon I bought was properly wrapped in paper and placed inside a plastic bag. Choose between the two options if you want to reduce trash.
Maker’s 46 is exactly what it is advertised to be. It’s oaky, bold, rich, and hearty. You get all the flavors of regular Maker’s Mark but amped up to the max. Is this an easy sipper? No, it is not. It’s complex and challenging. If you want easy and boring: buy regular Maker’s Mark.I rated this a four because this profile is not one that I reach for regularly. I do enjoy the heavy wood and oak flavor profile on occasion. Just not as an everyday sipper. So if you do seek this flavor profile as your “go to” preference; than Maker’s 46 would absolutely be a five star whiskey for you. At $34.99, it’s well worth it. I wish I could have rated it 4.5 stars.
As I sipped this, I noticed how much the original Maker's Mark tasted like this. When I read the bottle's back, I found it was exactly the same Maker's Mark; the only difference was that they had aged it for a bit longer with 10 French oak staves. It has a somewhat higher ABV and a slightly woodier flavor. Worth the additional cost? No. Simply purchase Maker's Mark normal.
A fine whisky for sipping. The 46 can be enjoyed on a daily basis or as a unique time memorable. This more classically styled whisky can compete with any other because it lacks a sugary aftertaste. Just a simple pour into your glass—no pebbles, no mix. Allow it to rest in your mouth, savor the flavor, and then feel your insides warm up. A 94 proof whisky drinks like it is 80, which is extremely exceptional.
