Makers Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky 700ml

(3,681 reviews)

Maker's Mark Bourbon is a premium American bourbon that has been produced since 1958. It is made using a unique recipe that includes a high proportion of corn, along with malted barley and a small amount of red winter wheat, which gives the bourbon its distinctive flavor profile. On the nose, Maker's Mark Bourbon has a sweet and fruity aroma, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of oak. On the palate, it is smooth and well-balanced, with a rich and complex flavor profile that includes a mix of sweet and spicy notes. The caramel and vanilla flavors are particularly prominent, while the oak gives the bourbon a subtle smoky note that adds depth and complexity. Maker's Mark Bourbon is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, where the full flavor profile of the bourbon can be appreciated. It is also a popular choice for bourbon-based cocktails like the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan, where its smooth and complex flavor profile adds depth and complexity to the drink. One of the unique features of Maker's Mark Bourbon is its production process. The bourbon is aged for a minimum of six years in charred oak barrels, which gives it its distinctive color and flavor. The barrels are rotated during the aging process to ensure that the bourbon is evenly aged and that the flavors are well-developed. Overall, Maker's Mark Bourbon is a high-quality bourbon that is highly prized by bourbon enthusiasts and mixologists for its exceptional quality, smooth and complex flavor profile, and versatility in cocktails. Whether enjoyed neat or used to create a classic bourbon cocktail, Maker's Mark Bourbon is a true classic.

Absolute perfection in bourbon.

Numerous cult bourbons, including Maker's Mark, Angel's Envy, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey, and Bulleit, have been sampled by me. But this is the one I keep returning to, especially for mixed drinks (Angel's Envy is, by a hair's breadth, my fave neat). In comparison to most other bourbons I've encountered, Maker's Mark is far rounder, smoother, and more mellow. It creates a whiskey sour or old fashioned that is truly amazing and puts the other bourbons in my bar to shame. 10/10 would advise. It is truly unbeatable for the cost.

It's when you peel back the wax and make small pour. You bring it to your nose and the fragrance United you for a taste. Just the right amount of kick ti get things started then the smoothness sets in. It's like that bug from a friend you've not seen in a long time. Settle in for a long conversation. That's what you want in a great bourbon. Makers Mark 46 is that friend that's always there.

I definitely give Makers 4 stars. I gave it a 5 to make up for the jerks who gave it less than it deserved. I adore bourbon whiskey, and Maker's Mark has never disappointed me. Because it tastes like cherry candy to me, I prefer it best straight out of the bottle. I always order this when I go to a pub. I shop better at home. It's wonderful for old fashioneds, or I typically get a Maker's with water, a little bit of coke, and a few cherries.

Gentle Spirit.
21 December 2022

Because it's a bourbon, there are naturally some fruitiness and vanilla notes in the scent, which is quite well-balanced and typical. The taste of this bourbon is likely what made it famous; instead of the burnt alcohol flavor found in other dry, high-proof whiskeys, you get a lot of almonds, maple syrup, and raisins, which has to be a bonus for most novice bourbon drinkers. Smoothly put. An excellent starting point for learning about whiskey. Spirit that is less appealing to the rest of us.

Good sipping bourbon
1 May 2023

Well, we get what we pay for. That said, one can certainly purchase a better bourbon for more money. Maker's Mark nose is very enjoyable and pleasing to me. The taste is fairly smooth but lacking depth and any particular notes that I could taste. The finish is sort of unexciting. So, it's a decent whiskey for the money.

Learning a lesson
11 February 2023

After completing part of the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, and buying several bourbons along the way, Maker's Mark continues to excel when blended with other flavors. I'm not complaining about the others, but Maker's excels. My wife and I have been drinking Old Fashions together for 52 years. In recent years, we mix Makers with Blenhiem's spicy ginger ale. While other bourbons are nice, they have a certain pinch in taste that Makers doesn't.

Never would buy anything else
31 August 2022

I only drank beer until someone offered me a drink of Makers Mark. Have not drank anything since. That was 35 years ago. It's part of me now!!! Love the taste. Thank You. I also have a barrel and dipped my own bottle. Still use that bottle and buy the bigger one and refill it because It also has my name on it. Keep up the good work!!!!

Sweet and easy

MM is the very definition of an easy sipper. For those times when you just want to enjoy a nice bourbon that you can sip on without dissecting every little nuance of flavor for a deep analysis……MM is exactly what you should reach for. It’s currently $23! Seriously, how can anyone complain about this bourbon. No, it isn’t going to blow your socks off. You aren’t going to impress your bourbon snob friends by pouring them a dram of it. So what? Open it, pour it, and drink it. You will not be disappointed.MM original is sweet, a little spicy, and very smooth (without being boring). Very crushable indeed. I drink it neat but it would make for a terrific mixer as well. However you drink it, you simply cannot go wrong for the value.

The quintessential bargain wheater
6 March 2023

Maker’s Mark was the first wheated bourbon I ever tried, and is still a great value at $20-$25. It remains better than most other bourbons in its price range, though Maker’s own 46 and 101 are quite a bit better (I’ve not tried the Cask Strength). Here you’ll find flavor notes of vanilla, vanilla cake, red apple, and some caramel. It doesn’t set out to be a truly great bourbon, and is content being just what it is. But sometimes that’s all you need.

Very approachable

Nose: There's some scorched oak dashing out when it's poured into the glass. A little alcoholic. After a few minutes, some sweet note like brown sugar starts to show. Then caramel.Palate: Smooth and mellow, almost no bite. Very weak char in the front and it's soon gone. The oak is around all the time, making the palate quite woody, but not overwhelming. The body is light and tastes very sweet almost like licorice.Finish: Still woody but no astringency at all. A little nutty in the beginning. There's malty sweetness lingers long, then turns into pear and apple zest. Cool and dry.Comment: I believe this is one of the mellowest bourbons. But to my surprise, it's quite wood-focused, not just some plain sweet drink. The oak is nicely done, pleasantly running ... MoreNose: There's some scorched oak dashing out when it's poured into the glass. A little alcoholic. The nutty note in the finish is a little highlight to me, which could be attributed to the wheat and barley in their mash bill. The whole experience could be even better if that scorched oak on the nose is fixed.
