Makita 18V Brushless 1/2" Impact Wrench - DTW300Z

Excellent Impact wrench. It took just 3 effortless seconds to undo a car engine crankshaft nut that had been torqued to 90 Nm. No previous attempts with levers and spanners would budge the nut. This is a "real nut buster" 10/10 +++. Makita is a Great tool brand

Didn't do the job I expected it to.Despite having 300Nm torque capability and supposedly more than 500Nm nut busting undoing torque, it wouldn't undo the rear brake carrier bolts on my car. These are tightened to 200Nm and this wouldn't touch them, had to get the breaker bar back out.I can't return it now because it's been 'used'. So, only good for undoing wheel bolts.

For mechanics this is a great intermediate impact wrench. The biggest strengths are it's capable power and it's compact size. The battery life is impressive too, I have four Makita 18v tools, used daily with four 5ah batteries and the chargers are just gathering dust mostly.It is very important to note that this is not the only 1/2 inch impact wrench you'll need as a mechanic. Great for tight spaces and much more power than any 3/8 drive guns out there, however for bigger nuts and bolts over 19mm, hub nuts, siezed fixings and overtightened wheel bolts etc it does struggle.So, if its raw power you're after, this isn't for you. Buy this gun for an excellent balance between power and portability that will save you a lot of time and effort if used correctly.

Im a DIY mechanic and the DTW300Z has worked on most bolts Ive tried so far. Hub nuts which were causing my breaker bar to deform were whipped off by this. Wait for the clearance sales to avoid paying full price.

Good little tool for the home mechanic

Good little tool for the home mechanic. It's not powerful enough for rusty bolts but once you crack them off with a Bar it's a lot less hassle than using spanners to get the bolts out. I've already got other Makita gear so it made sense to stay within their ecosystem as I already have batteries and charger. The t shirt is good quality as well.

Great tool for its power to size ratio

Great tool, compact in size but capable enough to take wheels off the car easily. If the nut is overtightened, and it is outside of the Max Torque for this tool, then get a bigger wrench or crack it by hand, it is not a one-tool-for all, be realistic, stop whinging and dont expect the compact tool to handle everything.

Makita DTW300Z 18v LXT Brushless 1/2" Impact Wrench Body Only

Last year took an hour (using socket set, hammering etc) to remove a pinch bolt from my cars control arm/knuckle, due to it being seized.I used this drill when I needed the other side removing 6 months later (also seized) and it freed the bolt instantly and I removed it in around 20 seconds. Well worth the money. This was on the lowest bolt setting also. Brilliant tool and already paid for itself in the time its saved me completing the suspension arm change

For - Seems like a good quality Makita product. It was a good price and arrived in reasonable time. It removes wheel nuts set to the the correct torque easily. Against- It is probably a "grey" import because it didn't come with any of the normal Makita warranty documentation etc. Having read reviews of the product before purchase I was unpleasantly surprised that it couldn't remove wheel nuts that had been overtightened (which they usually are) at the tyre dealer.

Well worth the money.

First test for this impact wrench was to remove wheel nuts on my Defender 110 which had been seriously tightened with a long breaker bar. This little machine took a second or two to get to grips and then removed all the nuts easily. Great, no more faffing about with wheel braces and a strained back. If the wrench proves to be durable like my other Makita tools I will happily rate it at five stars.

Changed tires on 4 cars so far and no nut has been a problem. Fast, accurate and light weight! Got delivered whole with no damages. Worked right out of the box! Only minor complaint I have is that the control panel on the tool is "sliding" around slightly. Dont know if this is a design flaw or bad assembly. But does not bring down the review.
