Great little saw for smaller stuff. Have used it for de-limbing a felled tree and cutting smaller branches for firewood. Can hold on to the branch being cut and throw it out of the way without have to bend down to pick it up. Can hold branch and cut bits straight into wheelbarrow, again without having to bend down to pick up the bits. Faster and saves my poor old back a fair bit of grief. It's not very difficult to overload it and make it cut out, but if used on smaller stuff it's totally fine. Lightweight and versatile for one handed use, love this lil saw.

I bought this Makita 18v top handle chainsaw to be my climbing saw in my tree lopping business. I have 2 stihl petrol saws for different jobs. I also have a makita 18v cordless hammer drill & 18v variable speed cordless 125mm angle grinder. The 18v cordless chainsaw is pleasantly quiet. Has adequate power to do the job. You don't have to struggle to start it. It has all the features a professional saw operator expects of a quality tool. I've used it camping cutting firewood. So it will do a wide variety of work.

It is what it is. It's 18 volts and has numerous protective features which protect both the user from the saw and the saw from the user. The bar is only about 23cm but that doesn't make this a toy! It is a top handle chainsaw and in that it's design requires a proper level of training to use safely. I find that it compliments owning a larger more powerful saw and its limitations will quickly be discovered in use, If you ask to much of it the LED will turn red and it will remain inoperative until it has cooled down. This will .put some people off it, but they will have unrealistic expectations of this very light very small and useful saw.

I do arborist work and thought I’d try battery powered saw. Since I already have Makita battery powered tools I thought I’d give this one a try. Turns out it’s a great song for limbing, light and easy to manage And the battery last surprisingly long time. Would definitely recommend for any limbing work.
Excellent chainsaw. I’ve been cutting pretty thick pieces with it. Couldn’t be happier.I recommend buying extra bar/chain oil. You’ll need it after first hour of use.
Works so well , bought as a skin but I have 2 5AH batteries from a separate purchase and this saw is terrific , some pro arborists use this saw . Absolutely no regrets , I live on a few acres and need to prune regularly and as a no longer young person this saw is my new best friend .
This little saw is viable for light pruning and firewood up to three or 4 inch diameter at a push. It is designed for pruning, repeated firewood cutting will engage the thermal lockout unless you take your time. Keep the chain sharp, keep the oil topped up, it's a decent little saw
I wanted a light and no fuss chainsaw to cut branches for firewood and tidy up the hedges. This fits the bill very well and even at 18v has plenty of power to slice through 75 and 100mm branches. It uses my old 3ah batteries in less than 15 minutes, especially on the bigger cuts. But that is plenty.I feel safe using it
Used it several times professionally, it's a great little saw. I have batteries and charger from other Makita tools so was ready to go. 5Ah battery lasted 3 hours of intermittent usage. Check out YouTube.
Excellent light weight cutting tool, never go back to petrol again. Batteries never last long enough whether brush cutter, blower or chainsaw, but plenty of power for the job. Everything needed in the box except for a file. Easy to assemble. Box arrived wrapped in a sealed plastic wrap, inside the wrap the box was soaking wet, and collapsed, all dented in but the saw was OK. I have a full set of Makita cordless tools now and love them. Very quiet in operation and no mess, using a petrol chain saw I get covered in shavings but the battery one I was still clean after cutting for half an hour, I did use one 5Ah battery and make a start on a second battery.
