This is my second 18 volt split shaft power unit.Great price for such a reliable bit of kit.Some of my hedges are so wide I need this with an extender and trimmer head .Works really well. But heavier than my Stihl petrol version when assembled and a lot springier. I'm not sure if that's the balance that makes it so heavy. Nice cut though.These are my go too tools unless it's raining properly.Battery life is good.Although I have a lot of 5ah batteries waiting in the wings.That's the only downside to the 18volt range of garden tools, no extreme weather protection.But having invested in the entire range, I'm reluctant to upgrade to 40 volt which is a lot more expensive than the 18.All in all Makita battery tools are brilliant.

I bought this to go green with my tools, but way electric charge prices are on the rise it is costing more to change battery than to buy fuel,and the hedge cutter attachment is only really good for trimming not for thicker branches
