Makita 406mm (16") Scroll Saw, 50W SJ401
The Makita 406mm (16”) Scroll Saw SJ401 can be used to cut intricate curves and joints, a task which it can complete quickly and with great accuracy. Just completed my first project. Easy to use, change blades.Used thick lumber, needed some patience. I broke two blades the first day, but thereafter plain sailing

Excellent table top saw, really happy with the build quality. First tried the Wen model but wasn’t at all happy and returned it. I’m so happy I ordered this one, it works great and it’s a good size for a smaller shop.I did purchase Olsen blades for it - in fact be aware that the Ryobi scroll saw blades from Home Depot don’t actually fit this saw - I had to return those. But the Olsen blades are a perfect fit and great quality with lots of options available. I chose the 5” pin end blades and have had no problems.

After trying a few scroll saws, I settled on this one. It does everything well. Only bad part is you need a tool (which comes with it) to change blades. But it accepts both pinned and plain blades to make everyone happy). The varying speed is awesome, it is also very stable. Unless you plan to make expert's intricate cuts (in which case you should get a more expensive saw), this one will do everything you need.
I bought this for my DIY wood projects. Does the job perfectly and with good finish. I even tested on metal and I was happy with the performance
If it would brushes then was fantastic product.
Received the item in excellent condition with all accessories.
Needed to spend some time getting to know how to get the best performance out of it; putting blades through drilled holes in 1.5 inch wood, learning how best to position the attachments, and how best to change the blades faster, were some of the challenges to overcome. However, eight weeks later, I have nothing but praise for the way it performs! Very good investment.
It is my first scroll saw. Overall I am happy with it as it does what I need it to do. One complaint is it takes a bit of time to change the pinned blades. I haven't tried unpinned blades which might be faster but you still need the allen key.
The only star short of 5 is because the little blower doesn’t do it’s job, but this saw is great value which is what I expected for a makita product.
