I have the 4 spd variable impact driver and it gets 3800 rpm. This one is 3600rpm. I like the grip on this one. Will recommend.

This is a great tool. I also have a Dewalt Impact driver which is also good but I like this one better. The Makita is smaller and lighter but it seems to be faster and have more power. I highly recommend this model.

I purchased this item as my current driver was starting to wear out. What a great purchase! this driver is very powerful. It is somewhat smaller than my brushed driver. I would definitely recommend it. I purchased this for $61. Great buy at that price. It does not come with batteries. that was not an issue for me..

This is a great impact driver for any size person. It's small and compact and lightweight yet powerful. Thank you.
Works like a charm! I needed a third Makita driver as I kept leaving my other two in various places around the farm. This one fits the bill.
I bought the XTD13 to replace my old DTD154. I got 4 years of hard work out of the old one but did find the trigger a little too sensitive and occasionally over drove or snapped a decking screw. The DTD154 had impressive grunt with 14guage screws especially into hardwood . By comparison the XTD13 is easier to control the power with the trigger and I dont think Ill miss the little extra torque or features of the more expensive models. XTD13 is Perfectly suited for roofing , decking screws and batten screws.
Huge Makita fan. Had a hard time deciding between XDT13Z, XDT14Z, or even XDT16Z. Really happy with my decision to go with 13Z. At a third or even half the price of the others, it performs flawlessly! Plenty of power and control.
This unit replaces a Hitachi 18v that is still working but is nearly finished. Firstly, this will have enough power to screw anything into anything, quickly and easily. However the variable trigger works best at full power but is very difficult when trying to slow down when approaching depth, and often goes beyond what youd like to achieve. Example: when putting 100mm batten screws into pine it easily pulls too deep or strips the thread as the variable speed is difficult to adjust when approaching full depth. With finer screws e.g. 8g or 10g star screws it is even worse as its almost impossible to set a consistent depth and easily can then break the head off. Im not sure what the alternatives are for the this problem, perhaps the units with seperate speed switch. ... MoreThis unit replaces a Hitachi 18v that is still working but is nearly finished. Unfortunately this wont replace my old Hitachi impact even though Ive switched brands and now have all Makita tools which Im very happy with.
There is plenty of power for most home projects. The primary weakness is lack of multi-speed or smart assist to reduce overdriving of screws.
As a home remodel/repair contractor I tend to stick with equipment that works. After several years of daily use for driving wide variety of fasteners, finally killed my last impact driver. It did not owe me a thing!Replaced with identical model.Makita never disappoints.
