It's still in that shiny "looking at tool" mode until such a time requires it to be used in anger, whereupon it will soon look like a time team excavation find.Great drill, does the job well and easier to use without the encumbrance of dragging a cable everywhere.

I looked at several makes but decided Makita looked and felt the best, and has a great reputation. The drill seems very sturdy, and the quality of the plastics and the rubber coatings on parts of the drill give it a good quality feel. I bought it to drill through a thick 800mm brick wall — did it with no problem. I delayed buying an SDS drill for some time, but I should have done it sooner — far better the conventional hammer drill ! I originally considered buying the corded model, but this battery model has plenty of power and is much more convenient. The only downside is that it does drain the battery fairly quickly. That’s fine for the type of use I give it, but you really need a spare battery if you have a big job. Very pleased with this purchase.

What a fabulous buy. I thought it was too cheap and I might get a cheap product but I was very wrong. I normally use Makita because I like the quality and Makita normally come at a reasonable price and this exceed my expectations.I was using a 110v version of this drill but this is just as good. I'd even say its is as good if not better than my workmates Hilti.

Absolutely fantastic. The advantages of mains, but on a battery.

All the torque and power of your mains sds+ drill but on a battery, which means that you can drill through masonry and concrete outdoors, not have to worry about threatening rain, and you are spared the hassle of an extension cable. I fixed a length of 4x2 to a concrete post in almost no time at all. It absolutely powered through the concrete. I swear by Makita tools. They never disappoint.

Convenient

Practical and powerful puncher sufficient to make holes for ankles. This model being a 18V (and not 36V), it turns out that it lacks a little power for drilling a little deep in solid concrete (tested with battery 5Ah, new drill of good range), although get it right. Ideal product for the type of installers, for the largest building site it must remain casual. Product sold naked, for once in the carton even no notice or cardboard for any validation of the makita warranty.

Another quality Makita product.Feels very solidly built and drills effortlessly.Great that it also uses the Makita LXT battery system.This was bought to replace my old corded hammer drill. What an upgrade!

Cracking bit of kit and as usual with Powertool world the best price by miles. Used it loads already. Perfect for hassle free cordless drilling. Never going to replace my corded SDS ones for bigger jobs or to use as a small breaker but can’t fault it for what it is.

Was unsure if this drill was going to be upto the job i required of it but i can say that i am very happy. I am a window and door installer and use this on a daily basis. Drill has a very good hammer action and makes light work of going through upvc, steel reinforcement and brick, even engineering brick. Quite a nice weight to drill and not to clumbersome to use while balancing over a bathroom or kitchen sink! For me ive never been let down by makita tools. One thing i will say with this ome though is that it performs much better with the higher 5.0ah batteries. It still get the job donw with the 3.0ah but will probably only get 2-3 windows fitted per battery compared to 4-5 with the 5.0ah and it is noticeably more powerful with the 5.0ah batteries.

Good handling weight. Feels very well built. Looks nice. Works well but chews through 18v batteries fast when drilling into concrete (not the drills fault).
