I bought 2 of these about 3 years ago when I started to photograph weddings. In that time, I've used them for not only weddings, but live events and even high school senior sessions. The portability and ease of use of these combined with the MagShoe from MagMod is pretty amazing. Instead of just using the speedlights with the MagSphere, I have also used the MagBox on these stands and it works pretty decently. Would not recommend on a windy day, but it can be done, and I've done it quite a bit.Came here to buy 2 more for more complex lighting setups and such and I know they'll continue to work just as well as the first two.If you're looking for super portable and lightweight light stands, I highly recommend these.

I've been using these Nano light stands for lighting and sound for quite some time (the first one I purchased was branded Bogen) and recently bought two more (as I replace old quartz-halogen units with LED my kit keeps getting smaller). I like how small they fold up, so they can fit in a carry-on sized equipment case like the HPRC 2550W or a Pelican 1510. Unlike some of the cheaper competitors, the legs are solid so they will bend quite a bit before they break. The combination 5/8 stud with a 3/8-16 thread on top makes this versatile, as it can be used for lighting or sound gear without having to fit it with an adapter. Overall a very well thought out design.

This is a very lightweight and nimble stand, and perfect for field recording. I love using it with my M/S rig - one can walk around town compactly, and easy drop the stand and be rolling within a few seconds. It's so small in fact that it fits (with ample room amongst the foam cutouts!) inside my Pelican 1600 case, which already holds the M/S rig. I am amazed that I can literally pack up the entire recording rig into a singular case, stand and all. It's sort of mind-boggling. It is also geared more for outdoor and extra-cirrucular use with its 3-leg reinfored tripod layout compared to most mic stands whose layout is only viable in a level and controlled studio enviroment. My issue with the one I had though is it appears one of the rubber bumpers just fell off - no residual adhesive or anything, the others don't budge, so possibly a workmanship defect. Apparently even under warranty it takes them 2 weeks round trip for such a small repair (that's if the part is in stock), about 3-4 weeks if you're not near the reapir facility. So I unfortunately have to dock it one star because of this defect. Overall though it is a solid stand and I will definitely be getting more in the future - hopefully without any rubber bumpers falling off!

This is a great little compact stand that can hold a surprisingly high amount of weight. My intention for purchasing this light stand was to find a fit for the third light I use when lighting interview subjects - which is a small LED light with variable color temperature. This works great for this purpose. The stand folds up and is light. This is the other reason for its purchase - I am seeking ways to lighten my kit overall. For most of the shoots I do, we often have to load up and set-up quickly and the less weight we haul, the easier it is to set-up everything. I'm almost tempted to replace all my stands with this one, but the concern I have is that I am not sure this stand is great once it has been extended very high with a heavier light. For most of the shoots I do, we often have to load up and set-up quickly and the less weight we haul, the easier it is to set-up everything. I'm almost tempted to replace all my stands with this one, but the concern I have is that I am not sure this stand is great once it has been extended very high with a heavier light. I use 1x1 LED panels, which are themselves light, but often I will couple the light with a larger gold mount battery with a v-mount adapter. This combination increases the weight, and it makes me concerned about setting it up with a client shoot where the light to fall. The stand could certainly hold the weight, but because it's so light, it would be easy to have a very top-heavy light with the battery included. I'll experiment in the future to see if this may isn't an issue, but for now, I'm being cautious and will stick to the larger stands. For that reason, I'm not yet going to replace all of my stands, but as far as the third light stand is concerned, this works great. The portability is also wonderful. It's amazing to have a light item to carry and break down quickly and effectively. What's not so great about the product is how it would probably struggle to hold up heavier lights - I would think an Arri 650 would be too much and would probably think a 300 is about max. In a pinch, this stand could maybe hold up a 1K fresnel light, but that would be a little dangerous for my tastes. From my opinion and experience ,i think this light stand is ideal for a 150 with barn doors, but I would be hesitant to add too much more items. The sturdy build means that I can weigh this down with a sandbag and not be too concerned. In general, this is a great tool for production. Its price is a little higher than cheaper stands but it is well worth it. I am sure I will be using this for years to come.
So portable and easy to pack down. Good build quality. I wouldn't use it with a large light and soft box, but my little dracast LED heads were perfectly supported making a very powerful and portable interview setup. I tend not to set them up flush to the floor since you need a perfectly level floor to get stable support but I set them up at an ultra wide and to the ground and they are surprisingly solid.
This is a very nice light stand for an umbrella and a speedlite. This is a reverse folding stand--which means the legs fold up around the main shaft. When folded it is 19" long. When unfolded, with the legs flat on the floor (sticking out horizontally along the floor and perpendicular to the main shaft) the stand is slightly over 72' high. An umbrella bracket would add about another 6-7" or so, depending on the bracket. At that height and configuration, the stand is very stable. Adding a few light sandbags across the legs would make it almost non-tippable. It is supplied with a stud with 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threads. In addition, the stud will fit into a 5/8" socket or can be used for a clamp. The main shaft consists of 4 extendable sections giving a range of ... If you lower the legs beyond 90 degrees (to a more tripod shape) you can gain an additional 17" of height, but a some cost to stability. When fully unfolded the legs have a spread of 10". this could be handy if you are trying to hide a light in a corner. The sections of the main shaft slide very easily and tighten down well. Finger tight on the knobs plus another 1/8 turn and the sections hold well and do not slip. All in all, an excellent light stand for the money. Light, portable, stable, and strong.
I have many larger and heavier light stands, but purchased these for use in a compact interview kit I'm putting together based around small LED fixtures. These stands are lightweight and not terribly tall, so they will work best with smaller lights that are positioned fairly close to the subject. But three of them fit in a 22 tripod bag and weigh almost nothing, so they're perfect for traveling or quick-in, quick-out run'n'gun shooting situations. The fit and finish are typical Manfrotto; everything looks smooth and sturdy, and the parts lock securely. They come with a versatile top stud and adapter, the same as on my larger Manfrotto stands, that will work with 5/8 lights, 3/8 microphone mounts or 1/4 accessories interchangeably. Very versatile. Due to their lightweight construction and modest leg spread, I'd recommend using sandbags to stabilize these if you have more than a pound or two of weight on them.
So, I now have 4 of these. I use them with both Pro Photo B10's and speed lights. I think my B-10's are 3 lbs. Not sure on my SB700's. I use both for freezing hummingbirds. When it comes to the B10's I usually keep them at 4-5 feet and the stand is very stable. These stands are basically part of my Hummingbird Kit. They are fabulous for using multiple speed lights, very light and mobile.
I love these for getting my flash low to the ground, holding constant lights for video, or for light gear travel. It fits easily into my rolling bag, folds up really small, and the best part is putting the legs flat on the ground. Great, sturdy little light stand!
The loosen and tighten down. But of course, Manfrotto stands on always being well-made, so I can live with the knobs. My goal is to have the most portable equipment I can get my hands on because I believe Covid and its variants may be around for a long long time, so outdoor portraits will replace my live/work studio for now. It's shown with legs flat to the floor, but they fold UPward, and they also spread downward like a normal lightstand. I photograph women, so the 6'2 height is fine with me. I recommend it!
