This is my second of this exact tripod and head combo. Works great for heavier rigs, is sturdy and has decent height when fully extended. The aluminum body is also pretty light... I've never felt like I needed to get carbon fiber to reduce the carrying weight.

I have been working with this tripod for awhile now in both video and photography. Its nice because of the lightness, easy to use, and portability. The only major Flaw is that the piece that holds the tripod handle wares down so you end up with a tripod that the handle keeps falling down. Very annoying.

I have been working with this tripod for awhile now in both video and photography. Its nice because of the lightness, easy to use, and portability. The only major Flaw is that the piece that holds the tripod handle wares down so you end up with a tripod that the handle keeps falling down. Very annoying.
The system I use is a fully rigged bmpcc 6k pro that comes out to nearly 17 pounds which is supposed to be above the head included with this system's weight capacity, however; after frequent use for the last couple months on outdoor commercial shoots the tripod works perfectly fine and seems to be relatively well balanced. The one problem that I see with this tripod is the leg locks that are a flimsy plastic instead of metal or some other stronger material which is a bit disappointing considering the price point.
Only had it for a day and I love it. The head does exactly what it advertises and does it well. The legs are super sturdy and I love how I can invert the center column to get ground level shots, a feature I don't think was advertised. It's definitely more beefy in person that it looks on the picture. Not exactly a travel tripod but will be easier to transport than traditional video sticks. Only con so far is it arrived with the pan lock knob broken in three pieces. Thankfully the pieces were in the bag so I'll just crazy glue them where they're supposed to be. Overall the value is great here and I can see myself using this tripod for many years to come.
Fluid head is smooth. I like the bracket/quick release. The tripod is a bit more wobbly than I expected and the legs do not lock open when spread. The ball mount vexed me the most. As received it was really stiff to adjust even with the lock fully loosened. Turns out there is a pre-adjustment nut beneath the handle lock. I did not see this in the manual. It only took a 1.8 turn or less and it was smooth as silk while still locking firmly.
While I like the overall design some features are lacking that would be expected in a tripod of this price point. For one the included baseplate whilst intended for high end video lacks the ability to take larger screw threads. To solve this problem manfrotto provides a flimsy screw on extender to change the thread size of the included one. This becomes a problem as it is not a tight fit and do to the fact that there is only one screw the camera can loosen over time. My fear with this is that it will become stuck in the camera as it will eventually loosen out of the baseplate.One other complaint about this tripod is that the leg locks feel rather cheaply produced and overly reliant on plastic making it a hassle to fix if they were to break.Finally be sure to ... It is a versatile product that helps me get the job done. It may jitter at full extension, but that's resolved by pushing the legs out. The camera fixes on securely and once the camera position is locked down, it simply does not move. The height works well for me and it easy to adjust to different positions and levels to get the shot. It is not the most compact or lightest, and have not travelled with it yet, so cannot comment on it being easy to travel with or take on hiking trips.
smooth solid. just remember to check the little screw on the tripod where the base connects with the head. they all should be screwed in a bit and if they aren't the fluidity will skip.
Love it, stable and not too heavy...the leveling center column is very helpful and easy to use. Perfect for DSLR or MILC!! I bought this tripod because I already have the 190x with ball head for photography and like a lot...this tripod is the same but a video version.
