Just bought this new AV Receiver from Marantz at a good price. I have lots of home theatre equipment and I wanted to upgrade my system. I spent the last two weeks researching AV Receivers to find the best one that would suit my needs and budget. I went to a few local places to check out different models and listen to them and I decided to go with this one even though it was a little more expensive than other models. I am really happy with this choice. The sound quality is amazing and it really makes watching a movie or listening to music a really enjoyable experience.

A Nice Home Theater Receiver

Overall, I really enjoyed this receiver. Home theater and multi-channel audio was excellent. Audyssey did a great job on the speakers but all but eliminated my subwoofers volume (two) so I had to manually turn up the subwoofer volume after Audyssey did its thing. I have older Polk speakers (LSi15; 88db, 4ohm) which require some power and volume to light up and sounded nice on the pure direct mode but the receiver would shut down after a bit when turning the volume up for longer than 30 minutes.I did have some issues with the HDMI switching but wasn't sure if it was due to the cables that I was using (ordered new 8k "certified" cables to replace mono price 4k). If the 40 does not serve my needs, I will go back to the 50 and add a couple of external mono block amps to my front channels.

Bought the Marantz Cinema 50 a week ago based on Richer Sounds recommends. I have an Apple TV, Blue-Ray player and turntable connected. Somewhat easy to install. easy for an AVR. Upgrading from a Sony AMP and this does sound like an upgrade. Super please with the surround sound from the Apple TV. I can say it is a lot more immersive watching a film. But I bought this based on listening yo music. Was surprised how much life Marantz has managed to put into listening to music. I demo’d another AVR at the same price point. It just sounded flat compared to the Cinema 50.

Audio clipping issues.
27 February 2023

Not happy at all. Upgraded from SR5012. Had no issues before but this has major audio clipping issues. Tried roku plugged into tv using earc. Clipping tried apple tv. Clipping. Plugged directly into receiver clipping on both apple tv and roku.Than its starting to keep switching inputs when no buttons are pressed lately. Factory reset with same issues. The issues dis stop for one week but returned.Bestbuy only has 15 day returns which is horrible. Now the receiver is boxed up ready to be shipped to marantz.Old receiver is now plugged in with no issues. Way too expensive for issues like this.

Clean Warm and Amazing
16 November 2022

I recently returned the Denon x3800h. It sounded good for movies and TV but it just didn't do it for me for music and I preferred my old Yamaha AVR. I gave this a shot and wow, talk about having your cake and eating it to. This instantly sounded better for music, bigger sound stage, a warm tone, cleaner at high volumes and the channel separation and detail is amazing. ARC and HDMI CEC work perfect with my Sony TV so its easy to use as well for the rest of the family. Zero regrets here, if you listen to music more than just occasionally this is worth the extra cost over the similarly spec Denon.

Everything I had hoped for!
7 January 2023

Purchased this as an upgrade from a Denon X3400H as added an additional 2 ATMOS height speakers and the Denon only supported 2 in total. Very happy so far. Amp is very stylish and just feels well made. More than enough power for me 5.1.4 setup. Interface is much improved over the previous Denon one with HD on screen icons and information. Calibration works well and I'm very impressed (despite my untrained ear) So far I cant find any negatives. Great service from Richer sounds as always although delivery was a nightmare but his was due to DPD taking on to much over the Christmas period. Should of been next day but took 5 days despite being on the van for delivery each day!

New Marantz customer!
15 February 2023

This is my first Marantz product and I’m quite happy with my decision to finally upgrade the heart of my system. I’m able to run 7.4.2 with Klipsch reference and have flexibility to add another channel at some point. Sound is warm and enveloping, movies are robust yet crisp. Purchased in November and it took me a few weeks to dial it in and fully reach perfection, but it is spot on. After calibration, I did have to bump up the bass a bit, since Audyssey seems to set subs a touch too low. Highly recommend to everyone, including the serious audiophile.

Very smooth Dolby Atmos
29 June 2023

I've setup my Cinema 50 5.1.4 in a 14' x 24" space and for Dolby Atmos movies and shows the sound is clean and beautiful. The most amazing part of the sound is the smooth presentation of very bassy sounds that include really low components and midrange sounds. Also, the placement of overhead and surround sounds is crystal clear. I wouldn't use this receiver in much larger room, I've found the sound adequate but not super loud. Overall, the setup was easy but I would have liked more information in the manual about HDMI parameters, perhaps examples of devices people are likely to use like an Apple TV input. I struggled with this a bit. I wish I could use the remote as a universal controller, especially to change channels on an Xfinity cablebox, but I don't think this ... MoreI've setup my Cinema 50 5.1.4 in a 14' x 24" space and for Dolby Atmos movies and shows the sound is clean and beautiful. WOW! Just WOW!

Let me start by saying...WOW! I know this receiver is $2500 but I will say, it is worth it. I done a ton of research on 9.2 receivers to replace my Pioneer Elite LS303 and listened to a couple in the store and ultimately decided on the Cinema 50.Pros: Amazing sound quality that really made my speakers come to life. I rewatched several movies just to hear the difference in the sounds and special effects. It has all the bells and whistles like 4k/120hz for gaming and it looks great. It has 4 seperate subwoofer outputs so when doing room calibration it adjusts the level on each just like your other speakers. Audyssey room calibration worked really well. Most importantly, power! The other thing is that you have to pay an extra $259-$349 for Dirac Live after buying the receiver if you want it. So far, I'm really happy with the Audyssey calibration and the way the system sounds. Maybe one day I'll want to upgrade to Dirac but for now I think I'll hold off.Overall: Amazing receiver and I feel like is worth the money if you want an awesome sounding home theater.

I bought this AVR to replace my old Denon S930H. I have a 5.1.4 setup. Music sounds better on Marantz.Pros:- Looks beautiful, side panels have a subtle design, and the white under glow on front panel looks premium with black body.- Plenty of power for music and movies, my 18’x15’ room is probably more than adequately served.- Remote is backlit and that’s a nice touch.- HEOS and Marantz apps work seamlessly, I use Amazon music and Pandora, have had no issues.- Soundstage in ... MoreI bought this AVR to replace my old Denon S930H. My Focal Vestia Towers sound warm accompanied with floating notes. (Focals are a tad bright, Denon made them sound harsh at times).- Watched several movies, bass is deep, atmos speakers actually opened up portraying depth as well as awesome transitions from 4 Atmos speakers and 2 surrounds.- Binding posts are top notch.- Really like the speaker designated labels, I thought that was a nice touch.- Have not used Dirac but so far Audyseey has served me well.- The Marantz interface matches the current decade (old interface was dated).- I am eager to come home and listen to music, it is such a delight.- Even my Klipsch RP-150M bookshelves sounded way better compared to Denon.- I do not know the circuit related differences but this receiver sounded way better compared to several others during my auditioning for music or movies. I definitely think this is a top-shelf model and not middle or bottom shelf. You definitely get your moneys worth.- Plenty of Prepouts for future expansion.- I was hesitant to get this AVR when I read about HDMI issues but I have never had any issues. Seems to work adequately.Cons:- Need I say the price? Quality does come at a price.- Display on the receiver is tiny almost cannot read it from distance.
