Marantz MM8077...7 Channel Power Amplifier

I wanted to amplify my home theater system to allow for a louder and better sound output and I found this. The Marantz MM8077 7-channel power amplifier is the perfect amplifier for my home theater. It's able to produce high quality sound and it's able to power all of my speakers with ease. It's a great product and I've been using it for a long time!

I had it as the largest amp in a very expensive mostly-Marantz home theater system, and it broke about 4 months after I had it professionally installed. Its been in a repair shop for a couple of months now. 5 digits on a killer home theater system and its just collecting dust. Sad

I'm more of a stereo man, though after the purchase of a new TV, I fancied trying surround. I am absolutely happy with this pre amp's ability to do both music, and surround. Plus I get to use 4k sources so it should last me a while. I'm using Cloud power amps, with balanced connections and silent fans installed. It sounds amazing with my B&W speakers and DIY subwoofer. Recommended.

I have this Marantz 8077 paired with a Marantz 8802 for my home theater system. This Power Amp would get 4 or 5 stars except it started clipping off shortly out of warranty. Typically it will clip into standby mode (flashing) after 5 or 10 minutes. Unplug it and plug it back in and it will operate without problem for as long as it is turned on. It is very annoying. There is nothing wrong with the Polk Audio speakers or REL S/5 Sub in my 7.1 system nor is there anything wrong with the wiring. When I contacted support they responded with the typical troubleshooting mantra when I know there is nothing wrong with anything connected to the Power Amp. Eventually I will replace it or have it evaluated at a reputable shop but for now I am putting up with this frustrating ... A very good amp, I think. Beautiful, simple to set up, and a great clarity of sound in all seven channels. It compares very well to the Sunfire Theater Grand 7400 that it replaced, even though it hasn't near the 400W / channel power of the Sunfire. the 7400 was about 15 years old and 'Super Novaed' one night during some heavy lifting that got it too hot ..........or something. Anyway, the Marantz MM8077 joins two other Sunfire Receivers in a 22 channel system, and carries its own weight in the system with plenty of power and great sound to spare. And it's got a great blue light on the beautiful front panel!
Great product for a home theater system. Seamless integration with A/V separates. Allows upgrade of processor while maintaining a strong audio experience. Couldn't be happier with the styling and performance. There are currently two of these units driving a 5.4.2 system while also pushing audio in a separate room.
I have owned a lot of amplifiers all the way back to Carver amps, and this one ranks right up there. The total harmonic distortion is very, very low. Output power is more than adequate for a large living/theater room. XLR balanced inputs make this compatible with any top of the line pre-amps on the market.
Perfect match to my Marantz AV8805 preamp processor. XLR connections are solid and the amp is dead silent. NO hissing or humming just clean amplification at 150 watts per channel (2 channels driven). If driving all 7 channels, it is more like 110 watts per channel or so. Runs cool and looks great!
I read a long time about various multi channel amps before purchasing the Marantz 8077 and matching preamp. I'm beyond pleased with the clean, crisp power coupled up with my SVS Ultra speaker system!! Very satisfied especial in the price!
clean power at low to mid levels but feels under powered at party sound levels
