Marigold Engevita B12 Yeast Flakes Blue 100g

It says 25 servings on the tin; in the advert, which worked out a little bit cheaper than if bought from Sainsburys, as their version says 20 servings; but when it arrived it was the 20 servings version.

I'm very confused about the B12 claims of this product. It says "added B12", yet the ingredients does not list B12, which it would legally have to do if B12 is added and B12 does not naturally occur in yeast at such levels. The best info I could get on this is that the yeast is "grown in a special high B12 medium", which doesn't tell much. I think I will get the non-B12 version in future and use supplements to top up on B12.As for the actual product, it looks a bit like fish flakes :) It's very crumbly and can be sprinkled onto foods to add a savoury flavour. I use it for making vegan bean burgers, where you can't really taste it in the finished product. The flavour itself is described as "cheesy", but I haven't really found it to be so. The taste is hard to describe: hints of cheese, yes, slightly salty. "Savoury" is probably the best way I can describe it. It's not unpleasant, but I didn't find it as nice as many other people have been describing it. I couldn't eat it by itself, but mixed with stronger flavours, it's okay.

Amazingly tasty! Adds a parmesan like flavour.

I have recently gone vegan, or am trying to, and was advised to add this to soups and pastas to amp up the nutritional content. Nutritional yeast sounded like sprinkling mold on my food, and I fought this mightily. Lucky for me, I capsized.. This stuff is seriously delicious. Even my husband, who is inherently suspicious of anything "health food," likes it.

Best nooch around

This is my favourite nooch (nutritional yeast) out of all brands - it has the most flavour: cheesy, nutty, umami; it's absolutely delicious. I put it on everything; salads, pasta, sandwiches, pizza, popcorn.

Best nutritional yeast on the market

I use the nutritional yeast in most recipes including soups, sauces, rice, just about everything and anything I cook! I love it so does my son who is not vegan.

Best thing since sliced bread

I've been addicted to the stuff for years... It literally goes with anything and no one will say otherwise. It's a fantastic top up of vitamins too. You can never get enough!

Fab deal and lovely product

Got an excellent deal on this. It’s tasty and use it in so many things. I can never find it in the big shops so it was great to get such a good deal and bulk purchase.

Grated Parmesan substitute

This stuff is fantastic. Sprinkle generously over spaghetti bolognese or any dish requiring Parmesan, for a cheesy hit, without the calories. The whole tub only has about 350 calories and lasts ages. It will blend into sauces really well, but it won’t melt on top of an oven bake as there’s hardly any fat. I never cook with dairy cheese any more, “nooch” is a staple for me now.

Magic

This stuff is fantastic. Keeps my vitamin B levels up. Great in soups, stews, mash, on salads, curries, veg lasagne etc. We get through bucket loads. Helped me give up cheese as makes a great cheese sauce. We all eat it and have even got my 83 year old parents buying it.

Tastes like Wotsits

Really nice flavour and full of B Vitamins. It's a much tastier way to supplement than tablets. They are high in carbs and protein so be careful witht the serving size. Just a tablespoon at a time. These are great served on hot chicken or pork chop. A bit like a cheese crust. I eat them with a teaspoon from the tub - they taste like Wotsits.
