Mario and Luigi Brothership is a fun game which had me smiling for most of the journey. It does tend to become a little repetitive towards the end with some parts of the experience feeling as though it's padding out the game length unnecessarily.Overall, good graphics, great music and fun (albeit a little easy) gameplay. If you're a fan of the series from the GBA and DS systems, then you'll most likely enjoy this Mario and Luigi game as well.

Positives: a new Mario & Luigi RPG(!!!), charming graphics, new characters galore, lots of variety in locations, side quests to make the game less linear, combat is pretty faithful yet fresh, enemies have well varied attack patterns, some good music.Negatives: a lot of excessive dialogue which really drags down the pacing and story, Luigi's battle select button is A for some stupid reason, it takes far too long to unlock new mechanics which makes combat and overword tedious and tiresome, most of the side quests amount to nothing of note and are boring, lots of recycled enemies early on in the game, a stupid amount of back-tracking in general, not enough bosses, most music is forgettable and frequent stuttering hampers gameplay. There's lots to love but it just ... MorePositives: a new Mario & Luigi RPG(!!!), charming graphics, new characters galore, lots of variety in locations, side quests to make the game less linear, combat is pretty faithful yet fresh, enemies have well varied attack patterns, some good music.Negatives: a lot of excessive dialogue which really drags down the pacing and story, Luigi's battle select button is A for some stupid reason, it takes far too long to unlock new mechanics which makes combat and overword tedious and tiresome, most of the side quests amount to nothing of note and are boring, lots of recycled enemies early on in the game, a stupid amount of back-tracking in general, not enough bosses, most music is forgettable and frequent stuttering hampers gameplay. There's lots to love but it just doesn't live up to the greats in the series. I won't be playing it again.

As the title suggests I find this Mario & Luigi game to be up & down from what I’ve played & that isn’t very much but I’ve had a decent play just to mainly check it out & the ups are very good gaming with great graphics & sounds & storyline the downs being that it just seems overly unusual for a Mario game. Maybe I just need more than a 2 - 3 hours of play? It’s worth a play it reminds me of the Nintendo Gameboy Advance & the Nintendo DS Naruo & Luigi games so if you were a fan of them you’ll dig this I weren’t overly fussed on those games maybe that’s my issue but I’m still going to play it through without doubt.I did get a Mario & Luigi Brothership Steelbook with my order which was a bonus yet I did order it here on Very back in early to mid July just a couple ... MoreAs the title suggests I find this Mario & Luigi game to be up & down from what I’ve played & that isn’t very much but I’ve had a decent play just to mainly check it out & the ups are very good gaming with great graphics & sounds & storyline the downs being that it just seems overly unusual for a Mario game. After a six year long hiatus after the bankruptcy of AlphaDream, Nintendo brought back the Mario & Luigi series in a new adventure on Switch. There are also side missions to tackle in order to progress the story further and are important to complete the entire game. While the frame-rate and performance have some slowdowns, the battle system is good, the story is good and the NPC designs were cute. I had a fun time with the adventure and hopefully, the Mario Bros. Will get more M&L games in the near future.
What a horribly boring game. I’m no stranger to long JRPGs but this game is about 15 hours longer than it needs to be. I stopped doing side quests halfway through because everytime you completed part of the story (really stupid and boring and unengaging by the way) you’re given 6 pointless fetch quests.NPC design is really stupid and ugly. Islands are all boring and bland. And the biggest sin of all for a Mario/nintendo game….completely forgettable soundtrack.I’d rather play Mario RPG for the 600th time than ever EVER play this horrible game ever again
The game is good! This review is less about the game and more about the shareable pin set that I have yet to receive. For some reason, unsure why, I was able to pick up my game in day one launch but my pin wasn’t in yet. Even though they had a bunch of them there… And this isn’t the first time this has happened too… When I bought Echos of Wisdom, I never got the free item that comes with the game despite preordering, and for Mario Party Jamboree I had to wait for 2 weeks to receive the free tote by mail despite putting my order for pickup. Not happy with Best Buy and honestly will probably not be preordering through them anymore..Disappointing.
A great addition to the franchise! It doesn't beat the first 3 games for me, but I like it more than dream team and WAY more than paper jam. This game probably has the best tutorials in the franchise, they just pop up in a box you can skip past in less than a second. The pacing can be a bit inconsistent, but is a lot better than dream teams pacing. Combat is fun as always. And there's hours of side content you can do. (And no this game isn't a 5/10 even if it's not your thing.)
This one is a lengthy start, with a lot of hand-holding and re-reminders, it's true. But we must remember that these titles are built with younger audiences in mind. So there will be quite a bit of extra help in the beginning, and it does fade away eventually. That aside, I've enjoyed this game very much so far. The story may feel a little dry and I think it is because localization tried very hard not to deviate from its Japanese-style humor, or at least that's what it feels like. Still, there's plenty of story to go around. Now, the battle mechanics are what we are interested in and the game does not disappoint. The animations are very, very polished. Offensive moves have unique timing windows for extra damage. Also, each enemy has their own unique attacks, and there are unique timing windows that allow the player to reduce if not completely nullify damage. So, the challenge for players is really identifying and capitalizing on the correct defensive timing for each new enemy's attack pool, and there are plenty. The concept of capturing islands and towing them along with your ship and crew makes for an interesting and unique backtracking experience, with plenty of side-quests to keep you busy. It's been a blast playing this game so far, over 30 hours and counting.
I cannot stress this enough how wonderful it is to see the return of this series. However as a long time fan there are little nitpicks that constantly come up as you play. Normally I wouldn’t give them too much weight, but they do pile up. The game is charming and looks good, but at times it doesn’t run, or play well compared to past games in the series, and the story and tutorializing is at least for the first few hours I’ve played, bland and intrusively obnoxious. It’s unfortunate but this game could really benefit from some updates and the backwards compatibility of Nintendo’s next system hopefully offering it more horsepower, but with Nintendo neither of those are guarantees.
wasn't worth the wait. the battle system sucks. every button you press must be super precise. you have to react super fast to everything and too much precision is needed. also, you cant dodge the monsters when they try to hit first in the overworld, they just zoom super fast or throw stuff at you super fast. also, the normal enemies are far harder than the bosses. most normal enemy has too much hp and they do more damage than bosses. how lame.
