Bought for Christmas he has not received gift yet. It looks just like what my son would wear. I like the color also. The quality looks good. Hope it lasts a long time.

I bought this men's Hyperlight Down Jacket in a Plum color, It is nothing short of fantastic. In reviews some customers didn't like the snaps but I have found them to work and seal quite well. I've already tested this jacket out in the chilling 20* Montana air ind it kept be warm by itself! The is my first Marmot purchase and I buy quality outdoor gear from Marmot's competitors like Patagonia and The North Face. I am looking forward to adding to my new Marmot collection soon!

All is great. Wish I knew there was no zipper prior to buying. :/ Otherwise, he really is enjoying the jacket. He found it light enough for hiking and a good transition to dinner.

very light and compact. I used as inner shell and wear a wind breaker outside. Feels nice in winter. If your city is super cold, you might need a thick one but in most cases this outwear can keep you warm in winter
This jacket is made in Vietnam. It's a little confusing to call this a down jacket since it's not all down. From the collar down to the shoulders it's synthetic insulation. The sleeves and lower body are down. It has snaps instead of a zipper. There are other reviews that show the lower snaps and adjacent fabric ripping off. The fabric is not tough, so I believe it. I have been very careful unsnapping the snaps to make sure I don't rip the fabric, and so far so good. I ordered a size larger to lessen the stress on the snaps. It's warm for a lightweight jacket. I'm 6'2" and 200 pounds, and ordered the XXL. Yes it's too big but I can wear bulky stuff under it, and no snaps ripping off yet. So far, I like it for a spring / fall jacket.
Good looking and well-made light but warm jacket. However I don’t find the snaps a very good design feature (they take too long); i would have preferred a zipper. Ultimately I returned it.
I've bought 2 of these coats now (on clearance through Sierra), and both times I had the bottom snap issue detailed above. I have only had the coat 10 days. Guess I'm going to take it back and try find something else. Disappointing because otherwise the coat looks and feels great.
I wore this jacket about 6 times before the bottom snap ripped out of the jacket. This seems to be poorly constructed and won't last very long. Since I bought the jacket in the summer for winter use, I was past the return date and now have to deal with a warranty claim which will charge me to ship the product back and wait up to 8 weeks for a return. Ugh! Buyer beware.
When I received this jacket I was a little suprised by the snap closures vs zipper and lack of a hood. I spend a lot of time in the rocky mountains in the winter, which are notoriously windy so the snap closures were a little concerning. After spending time with it in the alpine during some intense winds (50-60mph) the jacket did great. I didnt notice any more wind getting in to my body than with any other jacket. With heavy liner gloves I was able to opertae the snaps without any issues. The 800 fill down does a great job of keeping you warm, even during some extreme weather conditions. Prehaps my favorite feature though, is the pockets. They're like warm bubble wrap and I love it....overall really solid jacket that will be an important part of my winter layering ... MoreWhen I received this jacket I was a little suprised by the snap closures vs zipper and lack of a hood. Size large is perfect for 46” chest, although a bit loose through the belly. Snaps allow top and bottom adjustments. High collar is soft and loose enough so as not to annoy. Stands up to wind. Usable as middle or top layer.
