Marshall 1960AV 4x12 280W Angled Guitar Cabinet

I bought this cabinet to pair with my Mesa Boogie Mark II JP Head and it delivers in spades.(I have a Bogner 4x12, Soldano 4x12 and Friedman 4x12 and was disappointed to find out that all use Chinese V-30’s on their flagship cabs) Friedman had 2 Chinese v-30’s and 2 British Greenbacks but the other 2 mentioned come with 4 v30’s made in China)This Marshall is the Real Deal Made in England w/ 4 G12 V-70’s. Voiced as a British V-30 but made exclusively for Marshall. These are the absolute most versatile speakers I’ve played through in my 30 + years of playing. They cover all genres and styles. I got this slant cab to replace another slant that got damaged in a flood.Power house cab I am running a 100 watt jmc through boosted for metal .For a slant it has bottom end the vintage celestions rip.Awsome sound running emg Les Paul styles guitars.I’m in a thrash band it does the trick hands down .Clean sounds are very clear and articulate as well .I see this being in my rig for a long time .

Excellent tone

I have owned a 4x12 Marshall years ago and loved the tone then. The output level definitely is like owning a sports car for town driving though. Once you get mature enough to squeeze the tone out without clearing the club (or stage), it is a glorious thing. This 1960AV that I just received arrived in perfect condition and gave me back the town I was looking for, for a new band project I've just joined. The cabinet is large so you'll have to adapt your toting regimen. I got the slip cover to limit the abuse. I couldn't be happy with its sound. I have tried the 4 ohm and the 16 ohm (with amp set accordingly), and prefer the 16 ohm setting. Maybe that has to do with less amplifier output transformer saturation. Great cab, very specific sound

I needed a cab for live gigs, ended up buying the Marshall 1960AV and it suprised me.I play heavy music(drop tunings) with Peavey amps which the Marshall handles very well, this cab is very audible in live situations or rehearsals. Very mid-based sound, also a hint of higher-mids aswell which cut through the mix very nicely. There is some headroom for more resonance/bass aswell, but not as much compared to Orange cabs for example. Finally, this cab is reaally loud!Thereafter, the cab is pretty solid, not too heavy and the wheels are very very handy aswell. Easy to handle!Finally, this cab has V30s, but they are NOT standard V30s. They have sliightly different characteristics(just like v30s in Mesa cabs have different characteristics), just so you know ! The ONLY 4X12 you'll ever need !

I've owned many speaker cabs over the years and always end up back to Marshall. I own a 100w JCM900SL-X and a 50w JCM2000 DSL and a Mesa Boogie Roadster. Each of these has a different tone thru it but none are bad. The DSL really shines thru it tho and my Mesa takes it to sonic mayhem. My 900 sounds better thru 2X12 I think. The Celestion Vintage speakers can handle anything I throw at it and I throw ALOT ! Whether you like your sound with scooped mid's, high treble, GAIN galore or MEGA bass, this sucker puts your sound in others faces ! The perfect match for my 6505+

This cab is pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. The sound is just great. It's ballsy and it delivers a great and clear tone. Its sound it's simply powerful. You can tell the difference between the 1960av and other cabs. The sound is round and nice. It doesn't get muddy. There's a lot of definition when playing chords with a high gain amp such as the 6505+Normally I only use distortion but when using cleans it gives you a great tone as well. Nice and warm tone.I'm in a melodic death metal band. I'm running my 6505+ with a Les Paul Standard tuned in B and I'm also using a tube screamer TS9 and a G string ISP. But how wrong I was back then. My first cab with the 6505 was a 4X12 Blackstar HTV with celestions. I don't know if this cab sounds good with a blackstar head but it didn't with the 6505. The sound was trebly and it varied depending where you were standing. The other guitarist in my band had the 6505 with the original 6505 cab and his sound was more ballsy.Then I got a used 1960av and from the first chord I played my mind was blown away.I needed some money back in the day and I had to sell that beauty but finally I got my brand new 1960av and I couldn't be happier. Even the other guitarist decided to go for it and sell the 6505cab.I've never tried the 1960lead though, but I don't feel I need to try anything else with the 1960 vintage. If you're not sure about it you can check out a video on youtube about the difference in sound between the V30's (1960av) and the G12T-75 (1960a Lead)I think the G12T-75 Sound more scooped and kind of artificial. Very nice warm tone

This cabinet has a nice warm tone, and is great for lead playing similar to Joe Satriani. I play a Music Man JP15, PRS Custom 24, and an Ibanez Prestige RG through it, and they all sound great!These speakers are exclusive for Marshall and are NOT CELESTION V30's.Many reviewers here mistakenly said they are V30's.

What every classic rock guitarist needs!

I recently purchased a Hughes & Kettner Switchblade head so I needed a cabinet that could make it sing! I took it to a huge local music store so I could try it with multiple cabinets from different manufacturers. I played through a 4 X 12 cabinet from Randall, Line 6, Egnater, Peavey, Marshall (AV, lead and MC412) and Krank. They all sounded good. But when I plugged amp into the 1960 Vintage, birds sang, the heavens opened and I wept!! I finally found the sound I was looking for. It was magic. Clear highs, punchy lows and just enough midrange to make it honest. It's clear enough that you can hear each time the pick hits the string. It'll definitely make me have to play cleaner. I didn't think I hit it that hard to make that kind of scratch. So now it's broken in and I'll just have to be a little more careful when moving it. If you have a H & K Switchblade head, this IS the cabinet for you. No question.

Wrong Speakers

This is the best cabinet you can buy period. I bought it for my son who plays lead guitar in my band. The speakers are not Vintage 30's though. If they were Vintage 30's it would be a 240 watt cab since Vintage 30's are 60 watts each. We took off the back cover and the speakers are Heritage Celestian Marshall Gold's! A 70 watt speaker! (hence 280 watt Cab)The celestian website list this as their most expensive speaker. I argued this at guitar center when I was buying the cab 1.5 years ago because I couldn't figure why it was listed as a 280 watt cab with vintage 30's. I pulled the back cover and found out for myself. EXCELLENT CAB!! The best we ever had. I have a 1960AX which has the Greenbacks which works great for rhythm behind my son.
