I was unimpressed by the speakers until they broke in after about 25 hours of moderately loud play. Out of the box, the cab sounded brittle with harsh high-frequency tone, but they broke in nicely with a nice, fairly neutral sound, which doesn't color amp tone like some of the more renowned speakers. With a 45-day return policy, you have time to put them to the test before you reach a final verdict. Most guitar speakers sound "off" when brand new, so keep that in mind when considering the purchase of a new cabinet. Other benefits: (1) sound projection and height of vertical 2x12, (2) good compromise between 4x12 boominess and 1x12 bite, (3) easy to carry with side handles, (4) fairly light weight, and (5) classic good looks to match smaller amp heads. I use mine with a Marshall DSL20HR with great results. I've used them together for nearly four months with my 4-piece rock band (2 guitars, bass, drums).

I am using the MX212AR with a Peavey classic 20 head and just love the sound. I use it in my basement jamming and recording. I also installed caster wheels on the bottom to make it easier to move around.Has very solid sound across the frequencies and sounds sweet and smooth on higain. The biggest plus is it's underpriced for the sound. I mostly play semi-hollow bodies through it and you can definitely get that great full bodied sound out of it. I've been playing 50 years.

Good quality Marshall cabinet that I bought to use with my DSL15 head, I also bought a Marshall MX112 cabinet to use as well. Oddly the 212 was lacking the low end puncih that the 112 cab had, not sure if this was do to the impedance ratings ( 112 is 16 ohm, and 2x12 is 8ohm). The 212 did have more high/ midrange sizzle. I ended getting rid of the MX212 since the MX112 met my tonal needs better. My recommendation is to try before you buy, and if possible use your guitar and amp through it. Overall it's a good cab, quality made .

The MX212AR is a good quality closed back Marshall guitar speaker cabinet. It is MDF construction so it is heavy and the shape of the cabinet makes it awkward to move. It does have good size handles built into the sides to make it easier to move. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the original speakers aren't the best.
I bought this to use with a PRS MT-15 and I have been very pleased with it.I have a 90s era Marshall 1960 cabinet, and this cabinet sounds just as good at low and moderate volumes. The 70/80 speakers sound similar to the G12T-75s in that they have a fairly wide frequency range when compared to most guitar speakers, they may have a bit less Celestion character than some of the higher end speakers, but they have a good clear sound and they allow the voice of the amp and guitar to shine through. It is much more easily hauled around than a 4X12 (I added casters), but has a much bigger sound than any 1X12 that I have ever used. It sounds good at lower volumes, but can also move some air when you crank it,...it's the best of both worlds.I dig it.
Great Cabinet. Very easy to move around (I have the horizontal version, too, and this one is MUCH easier to carry in and out of gigs, up and down narrow stairs, etc. I added casters to the bottom and it's really great). Sound is fantastic, plays beautiful clean and really crunches when needed. I run several amps through it, depending on my needs, haven't been disappointed. Projects well and keeps up with the drums, bass, lead guitar, and PA system in my band. I use it in live performances with a four piece cover band playing 60's-modern rock and pop.
I have the MX212A version of this. I don't know what the R means but both have the 70/80 speakers. I use this in a studio with a Fender Superchamp X2, Laney Cub, Bugera 5w and a VHT ultra six hooked up to it and all sound great. I figured I'd swap out one of the speakers for a vintage 30 or something just to have two options for mic'ing, but it sounds so good I'll never bother doing a speaker swap. I use this almost every day of the week in my studio, which is my full-time job. I've compared it to a number of combo amp speakers and it sounds as good as anything else. I'm happy to have this piece of gear. I don't gig with it but it would be great for that if a little heavy.
Well made and solid. Goes well with DSL20H. Still breaking it in, will need to crank it up a bit to complete break in of speakers, which will increase overall resonance. Sounds good at low levels with high gain amp. Good value on this cabinet. A better speaker cable connection at the jack and it would have got 5 stars.
This cabinet is easy to use and not too heavy to carry around. I have this cab paired with my Marshall Class 5 head and it sounds great. A lot of low end, nice midrange, and overall not too lound. Just loudn enought to hear myself over a drum. Also, it's angled so no need to use an angle stand with this.
This cab is the perfect compliment for any of the DSL series amps. I use it with a DSL20CR, YES I USE IT WITH A COMBO, it gives me flexibility to use it in any sized space and have a full overall sound. There is no hiss or pop from being overdriven and the tone remains the same from the single internal speaker to the double external cab. The construction is just as sturdy as the amp and the Tolex is a perfect match.
