Used to be a professional musician a long time ago as a keyboard player. I've played the guitar for 44 years. I've played a lot of guitars and this one has such a nice feel to it. Sound projection is fantastic.

I describe myself as a "Ham and Egg" player. Not sure how much of a musician I am...but I have played for personal enjoyment for over 50 years. This is the kind of guitar that invites me to keep on learning new things...to pick it up and play...for years to come. Comfortable feel, great sound/tone, responsive and accommodating. This D-28 will fit any style of play or musical category. Whether you're like me or you're someone who earns a living in music, you'll enjoy this choice.

This is a great guitar but product description does not match the real thing. Neck does not have a gloss finish, it has a satin finish. Not a deal breaker, and the price was right.
I play every day, mostly finger picking. This is the best guitar I have ever played - rich, smooth, resonant. A real gem!
This guitar is a cut above every modern guitar that I have played. Some might be put off initially by the size of the neck. Don't be. It took me all of five minutes to acclimate. Top notch craftsmanship, with flawless fit and finish.And, if it weren't perfect enough, t think this guitar is an absolute bargain as well.
Great guitar, sounds fantastic, looks amazing. It does seem a little quieter than my last d28( a 2014 I think} although maybe i'm imagining this and it's quite a few years since I played it. The neck profile of the reimagined d28 seems a lot slimmer to my hands than the old one and is much easier to play than my older one was and came perfectly setup from andertons.
I used to be a professional musician many years ago, keyboard player actually. I've played the guitar for 44 years and have many guitars. I have an 1899 Baystate Brazilian Rosewood Parlor guitar and this Custom Shop 28 Dreadnought has a pretty close sound. This is a really beautiful guitar with a great feel.I would recommend this guitar to anyone and will undoubtedly purchase more instruments from Musician's Friend.
Tone is deep, rich and full. Action up and down the neck m is awesome. Stays tuned as promised. Debated for some time between Guild and Martin. Both great guitars but sine I've only been at the guitar for a year I just love the playability of the Martin D-28. Anyway item just as promised and advertised as new and never having been played and you can still smell the remnants of glue used when building. That's a treat too. The " truth will be in the pudding", as they say, so we'll see if I stay with it and get to where I want to be musically but won't be able to blame my guitar if I don't get there as i]t's just fabulous.;
Ordered from MF sight unseen two tears ago, and when I first inspected it, I was a bit taken aback with the "waves" of the grain on the rosewood sides, (though they are "bookmarked" perfectly), however, once I played it, that became unimportant! The sound from this VTS treated top is just indescribable! Take every album done by CSN&Y, Sim. & Garf.. or any of your acoustic hero's, and, you get the picture! I own other newer high end Martins, that are still being "broke in", but this one out of the box, just "blew them all away from day one !! I guess you can figure by now, I cant say enough sound wise, at least with the example I got from MF, about this guitar!! One other thing to point out, is that these are all marked "custom" and even though it is obvious they are ... Once you register it with Martin, that will of course, become of no concern! You want a vintage sound, here it is in a mostly affordable (for what you get) form!!! And it is a Martin, true and through!
