I got this one in a trade over the weekend involving my Martin OMCX1E which I bought from here 2 months ago. I had originally wanted the one with the burst finish and the Macassar design when I came back to playing 2 months ago, but you folks did not have it in stock, so when I saw this for sale on Facebooks Marketplace , I contacted the owner and told him what I had . It turns out that he had only bought this one a couple of months before and had only used it once and was more into Black guitars and was willing to do a straight trade, so it worked out for the both of us. Now as far as the guitar is concerned, this is IMO, the best sounding of the X-Series. It has a nice full, bright tone which I absolutely love. This is the guitar that I have always wanted and I am 100% content with this beauty . IMO, this is just as good as a 1,500 dollar MIA Martin , and I have tried out some of them in the past, so I do know what I'm talking about. Martin's Mexico factory has made it possible for those of us who don't have the big bucks for a USA made one, to enjoy a Martin at the fraction of the cost.

I just got my martin d16 gt from guitar center. It's used. I looked up the serial number and it was built in 2000. I was surprised that it was a 22 year old guitar. It's in remarkably good shape for something that close to being an antique. To be fair, it looks used. There are pick scratches all over the front. A few dings...but that's because the previous owner played it...because it's an out standing instrument. The sound is phenomenal and it plays great. It still looks great even with the cosmetic imperfections. There is very little fret wear. That was surprising considering it's age. Maybe it's been crowned? Hard to say.It was a little boxy sounding when I took it out of the box, but it loosened up fast. I could literally hear it opening up as I played it on ...Β MoreI just got my martin d16 gt from guitar center. It's used. I looked up the serial number and it was built in 2000. Phenomenal guitar. Worth every penny, maybe more. Highly suggest

The DC18E is a beautiful, well crafted guitar. The one I bought sounded great right out of the box and I think it sounds better every day. Ordinarily I would change strings on a new guitar immediately, but the factory strings sound surprisingly good, and I will wait until they start to sound dead before replacing them. The action was very good right out of the box; no need for any additional setup at this point. FWIW, I replaced the plastic bridge pins with black horn pins, and replaced the Micarta saddle with a bone saddle. That's just me. I bought this guitar in March 2019, but the serial number indicates that it was manufactured in 2016. The lacquer on the top seems to have settled in nicely, and has sunk a bit into the Sitka spruce grain lines. I like the ...Β MoreThe DC18E is a beautiful, well crafted guitar. I like the character this gives the top.Confession: Although this guitar has electronics, I will seldom use them. I bought the guitar because it was a phenomenal deal on a D18 cutaway. The pickups sound fine, but I don't really care much about that feature.I will note that one of the wiring clips was rattling around loose in the guitar when I first played it. I fished the clip out of the body and I haven't noticed any vibration from the internal wiring. All in all, I am delighted with this purchase and highly recommend the DC18E for anyone who needs/desires a cutaway dreadnought.

Ive had this guitar for about 6 months now and Im still in love with it. Its shallow body makes it very comfortable to play while sitting. It is beautifully made, and although the sides are laminate, the top is solid Sapele. The contrast difference between the dark sides and bright top look great and the grain pattern is mesmerizing. It produces a soft and warm sound unplugged. The sound doesnt travel far but there is no sacrifice in sound quality. This is ideal for small rooms or playing by yourself. The installed Fishman pickups make this guitar sound great amplified. It is bright, clean and true. It feels very solid and has a wider neck than guitars I have had in the past such as Yamaha and Epiphone acoustics, but not as wide as an Ovation. I have no regrets in what I paid for it and it is a step between your entry level guitar and that solid mahogany Martin you really want, but just cant justify spending the money on just yet.
Overall:I am barely into my third year playing guitar. I progressed from a Yamaha FG800 to an Epiphone Masterbilt DR500 MCE. I always wanted a Martin but I can't drop the coin for the D-18 or the D-28 that I really want, so I bought this without seeing or hearing it. I was honestly worried that a guitar with HPL back and sides could hang with an all solid wood guitar. Bad weather and the Pandemic slowed delivery down to four days via Fedex, but it is what it is. The first half hour of playing I was really wondering if I was going to like it. It took a little time to get used to that booming bottom end. But once I did, I learned to modulate it where necessary. And it plays so much smoother than my Epiphone. But once I did, I learned to modulate it where necessary. And it plays so much smoother than my Epiphone. I am looking forward to playing with a friend who has a D-28 this summer to just compare them. Listen, I know this a made in Mexico Martin. And purists might turn their nose up. But play one and see, if like me, you think this is an amazing guitar at this price point. Heck. Now I don't know why I should keep the Epiphone. Call me a believer. The only thing i would ask Martin to do is add a nice white or black binding on this to protect the top and add a liitle flair. Heading to the Martin Website to get me a sticker for the mancave and a nice Martin ballcap. Love it.
I bought a DX1rae used which is the older equivalent to this Guitar. The rosewood looks great and the solid soundboard sounds and looks even better. The electronics are meh so I put a bags underboard on it. Great guitar for a pro that wants a guitar for traveling and doesn't want to take their D28 or a beginner looking to upgrade.
I have been fortunate to have owned several HD28βs, a D35, D41 Special and a D18 many years ago. The D16RGT intonation, volume, and sustain stands up to any of them but has a low profile comfortable neck similar to a Taylor. If you are able to find this model I believe you will be very impressed. IMHO there is no better value Martin for the $$. Just trying to pass along the great recommendations that have benefited me.
I purchased this guitar on line. I compared it to other guitars in its class and chose it. It was tough to purchase the guitar without first playing it. Once I received the guitar I knew immediately it wasn't for me. I thought the sound was too tinny sounding and the D stringseemed to have a slight buzz. On the positive side the customer service guy helping me with the online purchase was excellent. The shipping was super quick. Product was boxed very well. I returned the guitar at the store and was given full credit. I purchased an Epiphone Hummingbird inspired by Gibson. I'm happy It all worked out in the end.
I own a few other Martins, but wanted one I would keep for life. I have played the 28,28HD,35 and 35 HD. I really liked the 41 also. After reviews and playing them I found that the D 35 just spoke to me more than the others. I could not be happier with my choice! And compared to my 000RGT16 it is a night and day upgrade. I chose the Sunburst D 35 And have played it a lot now. The chords ring deep rich clear and accurate with great volume. As I generally play and sing I found this the perfect match.
Martin D-16GT Great Guitar The sound is impressive! The first thing you notice when strumming the D-16GT is the booming low-end it delivers. However, despite such emphasized bass, it remains warm and articulate throughout, and doesnt overpower the mids or trebles. In fact, with the traditional combination of spruce and mahogany, its tonally very well balanced. This guitar features the bold projection you would expect from a Martin dreadnought, so even unplugged its loud. Overall, its a versatile acoustic it feels as comfortable with blues fingerstyle as it does aggressive acoustic rock strumming.
