So my son has hit with multiple bats (admittedly mostly USA certified) from age 10 through 12. This includes the DeMarini CF Zen USA, Louisville slugger prime 919 USA, Louisville slugger meta USSSA, Easton ADV 360 USA, Dirty South Bat Made USA, Rawlings Quatro Pro USA, Easton S750 USA, and the list goes on and on. First and foremost, USA standard bats just don’t hit as far as USSSA bats. If your league allows for USSSA bats then make sure you buy those instead of USA bats. That being said, the Marucci cat 9 composite, connect and alloy bats are just awesome. My son has used all 3 of these bats and they all perform like wildfire. He has hit multiple HRs with all of them. He has owned the alloy and Connect versions in drop 10 and 8 versions for a couple of years. If you see the online reviews and YouTube testers, the cat 9 composite and connect outperform the competition. As a heads up, my son liked the Warstic Bonesaber 31/23 that his teammate had too. But not quite as much as he liked the CAT 9.

My 11 year old son just bought this bat. Unlike most kids he bought it with his own money that he saved up with the last 4 years. I chipped in $50.00. And so did his mom. With this bat he went from hitting soft infield flies to hitting 320 foot home runs. I’m going to try to get him into some big time exposure events where college coaches will be watching with scholarships. Although this bat costs the same as we spend on groceries for a month it’s helping him get to a college scholarship and to the mlb. With this bat he blasted one over the fence by about 30 feet but they called it foul even though I’m pretty certain it was fair by 5 feet. A guy at the game told me it was the longest home run he’s ever seen by an 11 year old (if it would have been fair). He was on ... MoreMy 11 year old son just bought this bat. He was on the phone with a buddy who knows Tom Ricketts, owner of the Chicago Cubs. He thinks Tom will be at our next event to check my son out. If he does keep smashing the ball out of the park and will be a top 10 round mlb pick I’ll probably tell him to just skip college and go straight to minor league ball. That would put him on track to debut in 2030 and likely be an mlb all-star by 2033 or 2034. This wouldn’t be possible without the $300.00 bat from Marruci.

I just purchased this same bat for the second time. I purchased new one because this has been such a good bat for my son. He dented the first one and we had it for over a year he loved this bat so much and also he loves the design and color. We got lucky when we went to the store to purchase they were having a sale so it was a win win situation. This time I purchased the insurance. We also have the zoa but does not have enough speed as this bat. Zoa is more for a lefty hitter. Very light bat.

The CAT9 seems like a pretty good bat. Got it on sale. The best "CAT" I have seen still appears to be the CAT7 at least for the smaller kids. This bat has good pop and hopefully will hold up. Previously used an F5 and thus far I haven't been able to tell too much of a difference in "POP" new out of the box for the cheaper CAT vs the high end. Hopefully this one will have a bit longer life than the F5 which seemed to lose some pop after 2ish seasons.
Had a 29 inch -8 Cat 9 composite last season for my son. I thought it was a great bat! Beautiful sweet spot and had success. The only knock I had was anything a bit inside on the barrel seemed to die. This year we decided to try the Connect! 30 -8. What great bat, sweet spot seems as large if not larger and balls off the inside and even the end still seem to get up and go....miss hits are still hard hit balls. Needed for an 11 yr old!~My son is loving this bat. he was mad when I said try the Connect this season vs the composite. Not any more, says this is the best bat he's ever swung and you can see it with the solid contact.
I bought this bat a few weeks ago and noticed some other kids name on it. When I examined the bat much closer it had a few scratches on it. My son recognized the kids name because they were class mates. He said they brought the bat back due to the scratches. I kept this one because it was the last one but it should have been fixed prior to reselling.
This Cat 9 Pastime is an incredibly light swing which I love. No end load at all. It is so light it almost doesn’t feel like a bbcor. The anti vibration non definitely does its job I rarely feel stinging on even the worst contact. The light swing weight helps me catch up to fast pitches. The bat hits hard when you square it up. Although the bat is super light with all of these great qualities, the bat has a small sweet spot. You have to square the ball up perfectly to get maximum power. If you are looking for speed and workability and power buy this. If you are looking for forgiveness in a bat you are better off buying the two piece.
Bought it couple of weeks ago with a handful of players trying it out. All reported the pop as being great with a big sweet spot. The sound of the composite is very different from the sound of the Cat 9 Connect with a better feel too. Only slight negative comment was the tapered grip was not desired by one of the players. Others loved the taper.
Very good option for the kid that needs to "feel the barrel" during swing. Tons of barrel out there and the ball jumps off of it; maybe a little less than The Goods, but i have never seen or heard of one of these collapsing into itself and if you get it with this bat, you get it. My son says there is just enough feedback to let you know how you caught it, but that you would pretty much need to hit it on the handle to get buzzed. Then there is the price right now! We bought the bat in a 33" when the price first dropped to $199 and he loved it so much he asked for 33.5" and 34" in the same bat to use over the next couple of years. At $139, for the 34", how could we go wrong? It seems most of the newer two-piece end-loaded bats are moving towards lighter swing weights ... MoreVery good option for the kid that needs to "feel the barrel" during swing. My son wanted something heavier than the voodoo one he was using at school for the summer season; he said he wanted to be able to "feel the barrel." Most of the end-loaded two-piece models were either unavailable at the time, had reported issues with durability or both. This was on sale and i have never heard anyone complain about a cat 9 breaking (not in bbcor anyway). it swings heavier than i was expecting-my son says it is not much off of the goods one of his teammates let him use in the cage when he was checking out what he wanted-it is heavier than i would want to swing, but he is bigger than i am at this point. it is obnoxiously loud on contact-interpret that however you like. i wish the old colorway had been available (and i probably could have found it ... MoreMy son wanted something heavier than the voodoo one he was using at school for the summer season; he said he wanted to be able to "feel the barrel."
