Bought this model in 2018 and within 2 months the conrod oil seal failed. Replaced under warranty but had to pay the increased price difference. Had the same model for 2 years and it stoped working Dec 9, 2020 in the middle of mowing. Same repairer stated engine failed ( go figure ?) due to dust getting through the air filter which I have replaced several times. Bunnings explanation is that any 16,18 or 19 inch mower is only good for an average 500 square meter residential block with a house/pool on it, ie , not much lawn. Got a full refund to spend at Bunnings. Defitiely would not recommend this mower. I have about half an acre to mow by hand.

All round good mower

Its been 2 months since having the mower. I think its a fantastic mower but doesn't like anything over a 10-15degree slope... its starves for fuel. Its a nice weight and the handle is in ok position considering im 6ft4.It cuts nice but we haven't hit our wet season where the grass is constantly growing.

Best mower i have owned!

Definitely worth the price. I used to pile plam fronds for the month then dump run. Now i shread them. Saving me money. Awesome mower

Cheap & nasty
23 October 2022

I have a 4 n 1 Masport. Engine is great, however, the chassis components are cheap & nasty. I have since bought a much better quality unit, & am so much happier with the results. I will not be purchasing any further fuel powered machinery from Bunnings in the future

Easy To Start! Easy To Use!!
7 September 2021

I bought my Masport 490 4’n1 Petrol Lawn Mower about one year ago and I couldn’t be happier with it!! It is sooooo easy to start, maintain and use! I love it! In Summer I’ll mow my lawns every weekend - and also my neighbours lawns! I now have the title of ‘Best Front Lawn In The Street’ and I thank my Masport Lawnmower for that!

Junk
22 April 2021

This is my second Masport 4 in 1. I killed the first one by running it out of oil. Prior to that the remote throttle broke. But ok, great machine, died because of my negligence. But the second one: the chipper chute detached from the deck and fell into the blades...only 2 years old. I managed to rebuild it to the point that it works, but the shaft is bent and it's currently rattling itself to death. Junk junk junk. I've lost the receipt and can't find the transaction in my bank records, so I have to wear it.

Plastic Junk
19 February 2023

The whole back chute is made of plastic. And now after hitting a small rock, it has shattered into pieces.. I've had some duct tape on it but the grass now flies upwards and all directions on you leg and face. It is no longer usable. And prior to it shattingg, the chute is too small and jams up with grass as other users have reviewed. It also blows white smoke from the day I got it. Just junk. Why would you make the back chute plastic??? I wish I had my Dads old 1980 Victor, metal chute, metal catcher. Ran for 30 years

Rubbish upgrade...
24 April 2021

Had the older version 4 in 1 and they removed/changed:- Red foam grip. Ripped and super dirty after one use. Fixed with electrical tape.- Easy fold handle for storage. Gone. Why remove such a great feature? I didn't even notice until I went to put it away. There were none on display. Now I know why.But in fairness Bunnings replaced my >4 year old 4 in 1 after the starter cord gave way. Had gone up $70 and I am glad they didn't charge me that for a lesser mower.

The worst mower I have had so far
15 January 2021

Bought the mower back in late 2018 from Bunnings Box Hill. From the start the mower has been overly loud, burns an excessive amount of fuel, lacks power and constantly stops working. I have also found that grass builds up very quickly with the chute open and even with the catcher on. This causes the mower to stop if you are not paying attention or forces you to stop and clear the underneath of the mower.I have fixed the mower twice now and still experiencing issues. I note the review that spoke about using the mower on a 15 degree incline/decline. I can fully corroborate that review as I have similar issues. For the price I would would avoid the mower and definitely the engine if going for a different brand. Save your money and buy something cheaper.

Will do the job. Best kept to residential use.
20 January 2021

Used commercially for a couple months before:it started creaking all the time rolling it along. Oiled all over but creaks return in no time;Red foam grip shows real wear & tear. In their defence, it contacted many fences, but I am surprised at the 2-month mark. Too brittle;Smartchute corner slot where it clips to the rest of the cover disappointly broke FAR too soon. My boss' did, too.As a consequence, the chutes open themselves during use.Had a craving for long grass with a side of basketball. Wouldn't start for 15 minutes the first time, now, starts half the succeeding attempts. Had to send-in for repairs on warranty, with little issue.Still a hungry machine, but if I were to spend $650 I'd rather spend a little more on something even better.
