Like the lava formation in West Maui they are named for, Dragon’s Teeth polarized sunglasses are built to withstand the test of time. This frame features the debut of Maui Jim's newest frame material, carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is ideal for sunglasses because it is durable, lightweight and hypoallergenic. The nose pad area is also carbon fiber, while the temple tips are adjustable for conformity, and coated in rubber for a secure fit.

My experience with Maui Jim was excellent. I gave these as a gift. The first pair was not what our son would have expected but, after trying a pair locally, he found the pair he liked. Maui Jim was quick to send the new pair, and authorization to return first pair. When I ordered I made a mistake and the twice, Maui jim was quick to send authorization to return!! I would use Maui

I love these sunglasses! The frames are light with the carbon fiber, yet sturdy and the lenses are incredible when it comes to colors and clarity. This is my first pair of MJ and won't be my last!My only small gripe with these, which does not keep them from being a five-star product is that the carbon fiber being used for the nose pad area can get a bit slippery (especially if sweating). This causes them to slip from time to time about a centimeter down my nose, but doesn't dip farther than that, though, so it hasn't been a real issue for me.

This is my second pair of Dragons Teeth sunglasses. I have the gray stripe with gray lenses that I wear in bright sun and this pair for hazy days. Both pairs are very lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day. I highly recommend this sunglasses, Maui Jim is the only brand I purchase now. They have replaced all other brands for me.

These lenses couldn’t go a month without getting terribly scratched and developing some film on the lense that’s impossible to get off. And I’m not talking scratching by dropping them or throwing them in a bag, I’m talking about scratches coming from the cleaning cloth that came with them. If they’re not on my face, they’re in their case. It’s like whatever dust particles were on the lenses just ruined them when I tried cleaning. Then there’s the oily film. I tried using a glasses cleaner with a brand new cloth to try to get it off. It mostly works, but you can still see that oily smear in the right light, and they’re certainly not as clear as the first week. These are perfect 10/10 style for my face, 8/10 for frame material, and 0/10 for the lense. My Maui’s with ... I've been wearing Maui Jim Stingrays for over a decade now and love them. I wear them every day, in all conditions. I recently damaged my most recent pair and needed a new pair quick as the weather has been fantastic here in the Pacific Northwest. Upon going to the Maui Jim website, I quickly determined that some of the new styles really appealed to me, so I ordered pair of Dragon's Teeth. I'm partial to carbon fibre whenever possible and these glasses really feel terrific on my face. They are extremely lightweight and the lens clarity is fantastic as well. The lenses don't seem to block as much light as my Stingrays, but they're very nice. My only gripe(s) would be that they were shown to be 'in stock', so I ordered them. The lenses don't seem to block as much light as my Stingrays, but they're very nice. My only gripe(s) would be that they were shown to be 'in stock', so I ordered them. My credit card was run but I never received shipping info, etc. After a couple days, I reached out to Maui Jim only to be told that they were back-ordered. Well, the color I ordered showed that they were available. In fact, they were not. The other colors showed 'out of stock', hence me ordering the color I did. Upon getting this info from customer service, I strongly suggested that they update their website to reflect true availability. They did not. I cancelled my order. I had to go for quite a while without sunglasses because of their discrepancies, which I didn't appreciate. Later, I ordered them again and I did receive them in a timely fashion, just as I'd always experienced in the past. In a (coco)nut shell, I was disappointed with what i had hoped to be a quick purchase, but got what I wanted/needed after all. Lastly, I can reverberate what others have mentioned about the protective case that was included with my glasses. The clam shell style I've grown accustomed to would have been much more protective and fitting considering the price. All said; I'll probably be ordering another pair in a different color soon...
I was looking for a pair of sunglasses that would comfortably fit my face and make a unique fashion statement and at the same time offer superb optics. The Lele Kawa by Maui Jim I purchased at TB do that. The polarized lenses offer great clarity out in the sun or on the water and protect my eyes at the same time. The frames fit snugly but not too tightly. And, frankly, I get quite a few compliments about them because of their unique shape.
This is a pretty slick pair of rectangular / classic frame sunglasses with a slightly sporty look. This is one of the lightest pairs of MJ sunglasses you'll find with the SuperThin Glass lenses (which I highly prefer due to their scratch resistance and clarity). In fact in terms of weight, this is on par with models that use plastic MauiPure or MauiBrilliant models. This is due to the carbon fiber frame which weighs basically nothing. However, the frames are still very sturdy and the carbon fiber material is considerably stronger and stiffer than traditional nylon. This is my 3rd pair of MJs and I bought these to complement my other 2 metal framed aviator style sunnies. However, the frames are still very sturdy and the carbon fiber material is considerably stronger and stiffer than traditional nylon. This is my 3rd pair of MJs and I bought these to complement my other 2 metal framed aviator style sunnies. The dragon's teeth is a pretty versatile frame for several reasons:-Has a classic shape that pairs well with casual clothing, but also somewhat sporty looking.-Very thin and lightweight due to the carbon fiber-- allows you to use these glasses in more active scenarios that other glass lens models would not be ideal for.-SuperThin Glass lenses, always a plus in my book.-Adjustable rubber coated temple tips-- this is a huge feature that allows the eartips to custom fit around your ear and head. This allows the Dragons Teeth to fit super securely on your face despite it technically not being a sport/wrap/fishing model.-Spring hinges also a big bonus in terms of fit and longevity. The frame does make creaking/clicking sounds when you flex the spring hinges all the way, but this tends to go away over time. I've seen this occur with a number of MJ frames so it's probably just a new frame thing.
These looked really cool, but simply didn't work for my head or face. Since these sunglasses have a really shallow integrated nose pad, securing them on my nose meant my eyelashes were touching the lenses. If I moved the sunglasses far enough away from my eyes to solve that problem, the glasses would start sliding down my nose. The temples are adjustable to squeeze your head better, but this just didn't help. I am really hoping my next pair of Maui Jim's fits better. I have heard nothing but great things about this brand.
This review is for the My Maui product, not the glasses as they come. I ordered the My Maui navy frame with natural grey lenses once they became available. One thing I missed in the description is that the My Maui glasses would have polycarbonate lenses and not the Super Thin Glass as the regular glasses come with. I wondered why this would be the case since they make the glasses with the natural grey but I guess it just does not work like that. When the glasses arrived one of the lenses was not seated in the frame properly and would not fit. Also, the weight to the glasses was way off from everything I had held in person (the lenses were too light). I purchased a pair of dragon’s teeth sunglasses for my husband’s birthday a day and a half ago. He put them on tonight and they have four cracks in one lens. Four cracks from top to bottom. He does remember dropping them one time, but he checked them over when he picked them up and they were not broken. He found the cracks about 30 minutes later. We went to the store we purchased them from and they referred us to Maui Jim’s customer help number. The girl was very kind but I do not feel like I or my husband got a fair response as he has only had the glasses a day and a half. They asked us to ship them back in and have his brand new $270 (with tax) sunglasses repaired. His brand new glasses. Repaired. They says they will “see what they can do” about the repair fee.I ... It speaks extremely poorly for your brand that I have *other sunglasses that I have been extremely hard on that I’ve dropped countless times and still look brand new. I also have a pair of *competitor sunglasses I’ve had for 7+ years that have also been dropped countless times and still look brand new. I paid less for both of those pairs than these. It speaks very poorly that your standard as a company can be beat by a pair of $10 sunglasses. All in all, this was not a fair solution. We will never purchase a pair of Maui Jim’s again and I don’t feel anyone else should that is considering these.*edited with reviewer's permission
