A great all rounder dinner set. I bought these to match some older plates of a similar style. Be aware there are very minute differences to the older plates, which were thicker and heavier. I like the newer ones better and no one would ever know at the dinner table. The shipping time was a lot longer than expected which is disappointing for such a big company. I know it's a busy time of year, but nearly all my other online shopping was delivered in a matter of days. Myer took approx 2 weeks.

I ordered two of the same dinner sets and they were different colour (one white, the other cream). The weight of the plates was different too with one set feeling heavier. They also have rough edges and imperfections (small black spots). They look like seconds to me. Myer customer service were most unhelpful and asked me to bring the plates in store for assessment / refund. I ordered online as I can’t physically manage to carry 2 boxes of dinner sets in store. Disappointed. I don’t recommend this product.

White basics is basic. Ok quality. Disappointed plates rough on bottom so scrape on bench tops. Glaze was not finished correctly on one bowl. Have loved same product and brand previously. New version not so much.

Love my white basics dinner set from Maxwell & Williams. It’s very affordable and always looks nice on the dinner table. It’s great that I can add to my dinner set in single piece purchases. Have had for many years now, not planning on replacing anytime soon.

This is my second set. Other set in my holiday home. Great basic dinner set and stands up to every day use. Resistant to chips and I love that you can buy individual pieces, too. My OCD can’t cope with missing pieces! The bowls in the new set are a better shape, so now I can use one bowl for everything instead of separate cereal and pasta bowls. Great speedy service from Myer. Had it delivered to my elderly mothers house and instead of dumping it at the door, the polite courier carried it inside for her. Thankyou Myer
After a long search for a new dinner set, hubby and I settled on this one for several reasons; the bowls are deep! Everything is dishwasher safe and microwave friendly. And I serve things with homemade sauces and compotes so the plates needed to have a bit of a rise at the rim. So really, this dinner set is perfect for a big family. We bought 2 and are buying 2 more to replace potential breakages. It's just classic and perfect!
The plates were as advertised. It is eternally frustrating that Maxwell Williams alters the 'basics' set so that the plates are constantly different everytime you need to update. Please just have a model that you plan to keep around for years. The cynical take is that it doesn't make business sense though: better to sell whole sets than additional plates. These appear much lighter than previous models.Service from Myer was fine though.
We purchased this kit to replace all the cheap, mismatched bowls and plates that had been collected over the years (and which we will never collect again). We love this range! Perfectly sized plates and bowls and you can't go wrong with classic plain white ceramics. They'll never go out of style.
A fantastic ultra plain dinner set. This set does not include the ( rarely used) cups and saucers. The bowls are huge and you can fit massive quantities of food in them! The plates are large with a well designed lip depth.Close to perfect!
