My eyelashes are naturally thick and long, and I rarely wear mascara. HOWEVER! The Lash Sensational Sky High Primer is tinted. And my eyelashes are not uniformly colored, which occasionally, in the past, has inspired me to wish that I could MAKE them uniformly colored without having to apply a clumpy coat of mascara. And I can now do that. With this primer. Like, I have brown/black eyelashes that are much lighter at the tips than they are at the roots, and a few quick swipes of the Soft Black shade was enough to very slightly darken them in a remarkably subtle way. I did try this out under actual mascara, too – not Maybelline; I tried it with TooFaced Better Than Sex, Benefit They’re Real!, and Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk – and noticed a definite improvement in how smooth my lashes looked. I will say, though, that the advertised lengthening effect of this primer in particular did seem a bit muted, which could be a bummer if you wanted to use it for its intended purpose.

I've never tried a tinted primer on my lashes, only just mascaras. This could be used on its own and looks good on its own. I love Maybelline products and their Mascaras especially the Sky High. I tried this and my picture is just of this product and looks lashtastic. But I also use a coat of the regular Mascara usually with this. It lasts all day and looks amazing and I feel like my eyes look great even when I'm just wearing a bit of this and nothing else. It can feel kinda goopy and you want to make sure you spread those lashes so they don't clump together but once you get it spread out, it looks great. Compared to when I use mascara alone, when used in addition to my mascara this product was good at adding volume to my smaller lashes. I didn’t notice much difference in length than what my usual mascara provides. I only use 2 coats of the primer and 1 coat of the mascara, which is considerably less than usual. My lashes feel considerably softer when I use this product. The one downside to this product was that my lashes didn’t hold their curl as well with it. They were a lot straighter. I can never get away with my mascara in a no makeup look because it always looks too dramatic. This primer adds a bit of volume and length that looks natural when used solo. The brush is nice and narrow, making it easy to get close to the base of my lashes. I always struggle with giant bushy brushes. Something to be aware of is that product tends to gather at the tip of the brush. I usually just dab it off before applying mascara and I’ve had no issues. Overall I only gave it 4/5 because I love the softness it adds to my lashes, and the no makeup look I can achieve with it, but I’m disappointed that it straightens my lashes. I intend to continue losing this product for specific looks, using it solo for no makeup natural looks, and with mascara to add extra drama and volume.

As far as drugstore makeup brands, go, I have always trusted Maybelline to give me luxury quality on a budget. I have very short eyelashes, and have to rely on mascara to lengthen and curl these lashes. Upon using this primer, my lashes were more full, lengthened, and curled. I didn’t even have to use another mascara. In fact, I have had a better looking lashes with this product and then with any other mascara I have ever used. I will definitely be purchasing this product in the future. The pictures I posted show a before and after. The first picture was after the first application and the second picture shows how my lashes look 12 hours later.

It holds up even in light rain but is still easily washable in the shower. It shaves time off my morning routine by giving me the equivalent of about 3-4 coats of regular mascara with just a layer of primer and a layer of mascara. I’ve sporadically tested more expensive mascaras but didn’t think the utility they brought justified the higher price. This primer however is worth it in my opinion. You can even wear it by itself without a mascara if you want lighter coverage. Photos include just the primer and the primer + 1 layer of Maybelline Lash Sensational.

Maybelline has always made excellent mascaras, but this one is the best so far in my opinion. I have very fine, straight lashes. Not only does this mascara hold my curl, but it also really adds length. And even though this isn't the waterproof version, it lasts all day with no smudging or clumping on my oily lids. It can be built up, but you have to work quickly with the formula. It dries down quickly and can get clumpy if you apply too much. I also have smaller eyes so I can really appreciate the precise wand. It's also flexible which is a good thing as long as you work quickly with it.

This primer actually works! I've tried experimenting by wearing primer mascara (any brand) on one eye and only mascara of the same brand on the other eye to see if it made any difference. I don't think pictures would do this product justice but when I use primer and mascara, my lashes look thicker and longer. I also think that the tinted primer makes the mascara look darker. I've used other primers in the past that were white but my mascara never looked as dark. I like the way it looks and I'm about to purchase my 2nd tube of this primer too. I've even used this with mascaras from Maybelline and other brands.
