Thank you Maybelline for allowing me to try this product in exchange for an honest review. Compared to when I use mascara alone, when used in addition to my mascara this product was good at adding volume to my smaller lashes. I didn’t notice much difference in length than what my usual mascara provides. I only use 2 coats of the primer and 1 coat of the mascara, which is considerably less than usual. My lashes feel considerably softer when I use this product. The one downside to this product was that my lashes didn’t hold their curl as well with it. They were a lot straighter. Something to be aware of is that product tends to gather at the tip of the brush. I usually just dab it off before applying mascara and I’ve had no issues. Overall I only gave it 4/5 because I love the softness it adds to my lashes, and the no makeup look I can achieve with it, but I’m disappointed that it straightens my lashes. A new fresh tube is absolutely incredible but it dries out surprisingly fast and the formula starts to get disappointing from there. Over the course of about a year, I have gone from loving this mascara to really falling out of love with it and seeking alternatives. I will try to explain why so that it might help you to know whether it is right for you.The good:The wand: This is a very flexible, silicone, narrow wand that tapers ever so slightly towards the tip. This is my preferred type of wand as it really allows you to get to the base of the lash without the product transferring to the eyelid. It also combs through the lashes easily and allows several coats to be built up without clumping.The colour: Both the pink and the black tube are the same colour black. Neither one is more deep or more of a blackest of the black black, they are both just black! When I wear Maybelline Sky High, the lashes seem to go in different directions, some crossing over, some leaving big gaps between them and the next lash. Whilst they look very long, they look like spindly spider's legs with big spaces between them which is not how they look with any other mascara.Volume: I get zero volume from this mascara. I don't have particularly sparse lashes but this mascara somehow manages to make my lashes look more sparse than they are. Again, I think it is favouring length over everything which I have slowly learned is not a good look.Feel: This mascara gives quite a harsh, wiry feel to the lashes. It is not uncomfortable but if you were to feel your lashes when you are wearing it, you can definitely detect a spiky, wiry feel.It may sound like I hate this mascara. I do not. I have just realised that I enjoy a mascara that gives volume, that is less stiff in its feel on the lashes, that looks more plush and luxurious rather than just giving me a few very, very, very long but sparse lashes.
