Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara - Decadent Black 8.6ml

Thanks Maybelline and Beauty Crew for allowing me to trial the new Total Temptation mascara in Blackest Black.\n\nThis new mascara claims to create full, fluffy lashes with a creamy-whipped buildable volume formula that contains coconut extract to nourish lashes. The tube itself is quite chunky and is actually a salmon colour, not pretty baby pink as it looks in photos.\n\nUpon application it made my lashes look clumpy and wiry, unfortunately. I looked at the ingredients, and noticed 'coconut extract' is actually one of the last ingredients in the mascara's formula. Bit disappointing. However it was easily removed at the end of the day.\n\nI think this mascara just wasn't for me. I could feel the mascara on my lashes as I blinked. Definitely for a night time look if I was to use it again. I have fairly thick and long lashes already, just with blonde tips, so it's not something I would go for for day time wear as I couldn't control the volume and it just wasn't my aesthetic anyway - I like definition and fluffy lashes, not clumpy and wiry. I thought maybe I could make it work for me as it was supposed to be a buildable and lengthening formula, but to me at least, I don't feel like it is. I wouldn't purchase this one again for myself, but however I'm sure this would still suit others that have short sparse lashes.\n

If Great Lash is a basic mascara, meet it’s boring cousin, Total Temptation. Now it’s not terrible or I would have given it a lower rating. Like Great Lash, it’s not awful, but it’s not memorable. Great Lash will darken your lashes and add a bit of dramatic flair, but this is just a basic mascara. Adds a bit of colour and makes your lashes look soft. That’s about it. So like Great Lash, it is perfect for those that are not looking for anything that will draw much attention. It doesn’t flake and washes off without a fuss! Not a terrible product for a natural look!

Love this mascara! I’ve gone through many “cult classic” mascaras in the past both drugstore and expensive, but none of them ever work as well for me as this does. I originally used the non-waterproof version and I love that too but I needed something a little longer lasting so I picked up the pretty blue waterproof bottle. The wand on this mascara really works well to curl and separate my lashes, and I can do several layers without it clumping. It doesn’t flake off during the day, my lashes have more volume, and it never leaves little black smudges on my eyeshadow. I recommend this mascara and I’ll definitely keep buying it.

This is my favorite mascara, only problem I have is it’s not waterproof. That’s solved by putting a waterproof topcoat over it. This is an actual brown mascara. Like chocolate brown. I wish they did it in a waterproof version. The brush is one of the thick fluffy ones. It applies the mascara nicely, no clumps. My lashes looked long and full. Even held the curl. Definitely recommend.

It’s clumpy and kind of dry on the wand. It goes on pretty well though. I love the color. It makes my blue eyes really pop! Starting to like using this brown more than black mascara. It flakes a bit as well. I usually wear this on a more laid back makeup day where I wear just a bit of concealer and can clean it up a bit if I need. Overall I like it. I find myself reaching for it more than I thought I would.

A clumpy mess.

Just bought this today, and I twist off the cap and pull out the wand and it's just clumpy and dry. I wiped off the excess, thinking maybe it was juat that first bit. Nope. This was $11 I want back. Like this is probably the worst mascara I've ever bought. After going thru my old makeup, I found I had bought it before- when I opened it, it was still a full tube. Comparing the year and half old tube to the new one. The product looks exactly the same. Dry, clumpy and a mess. Not worth $2 let alone $11.

Been using for 5 years!

This has been my go to mascara for the last 5 years! I get the color “blackest black” and the none waterproof one. Is it tear or pool proof— no but I don’t like waterproof mascara because it takes forever to remove and this is rain proof and rub your eye proof! It gives me the perfect volume and makes me look more awake! Even when I switch my mascaras every now and then I always go back to this one! Def works for covering blonde eyelashes!

Natural look, only enhanced to make a difference.

This mascara feels so natural and the color is much nicer than black shades. It is easily applied and lasts beautifully. Mascara such as this looks like one's lashes only more enhanced, without vlumps and hardness. Love it! Natural Cocoa brown enhances blue eyes better than black mascara.

So disappointed. My go to old favorite

As an older women of 53, I have loved this mascara for years. I’m going through menopause and still was loving this waterproof formula. The last two times I bought it it was drier and clumpy. So I bought it from a different place and still didn’t help. I’m sad, I loved this mascara, now I have to start my search all over again. :(
