Instead of hiding it in the corners of your home, you will want to showcase it on the kitchen counter. Transform ALL food waste (including cooked food, meat, fish and cheese) into a super healthy, nutrient rich compost with the help of this stylish indoor composting system. The preliminary fermentation process utilizes an air tight container and Bokashi bacteria as a compost activator and has been specifically designed to initiate the breakdown of organic waste in the home environment. Bokashi is a Japanese term meaning Fermented Organic Matter. It can refer to either a liquid or bran based material that has been fermented with EM (friendly bacteria). Bokashi products are generally pleasant smelling and, when added to your bucket, are designed to accelerate the fermentation of organic matter. The fermentation process does not produce adverse smells so you can keep it anywhere in the home. Once treated in the Kitchen Composter, the material can then be safely dug into your garden or placed into your outdoor compost bin. Proud recipient of Red Dot Design Award.

I do love making Bokashi, but this bucket is a little flawed in its design. The buttons on the sides do not protrude through the hole of the outer bucket, which allows air to spoil the Bokashi. I was told this is a defect and was able to replace it. But the second bucket I received has the same problem. I put tape over the holes to solve the issue and now it works fine. I also don’t like the lid because it doesn’t fit well or snaps on and it falls off every time I move the bucket. Also, the bran I received with the bucket seemed old and spoiled. It was a grey color and was clumped and stuck together. I contacted customer service but I haven’t heard back yet.Overall I like the look of the bucket, I like that I’m able to make Bokashi, but the design needs improvement.

I have given up on bokashi before because the bin took up so much space and was too ugly to sit out in the open, so I was excited to find a smaller model of bin that would not look awful in my kitchen. I was also drawn to the insert that helps compact the contents and seal out air. One huge problem I'm having, though, is that lid is not actually a lid, just a cover. It does not snap onto the bin; it just lightly rests on top of it. Every time I pick up the bin by the handle, it presses against the lid and sends it shooting off sideways. I thought about going lidless since the inner seal keeps in the odor, but I bought this to look nice out in the open and I don't want to have the grungy interior bucket on display.

I’ve tried bokashi 2 other ways (diy 2 bucket method was extremely gross, another Teraganix bucket system was good but 2 out of 2 bucket spigots broke within a few months and then we’re leaky, also gross) and this one is amazing!! I’m about a month in, already on my 2nd fill. Seems to be quite airtight- I’m getting good fermentation results and there’s no smell of rot, & barely any smell at all, even when the bucket is open. No problems with leaks (yet!). The only downside so far is that it’s not large- I’ll be buying a 2nd bucket to fix this problem though.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I got the smaller unit. I actually bought two. I get a lot of leftovers from neighbors so I wanted to have one that I could fill while waiting on the other to finish "cooking." And I'm glad I did. My system is working well. As for the units themselves, they are great! I love the design. The others I was considering were all like 5 gallon buckets and the colors were atrocious. I wanted something that was pleasing to the eye as I keep them in my kitchen for easy access. These are definitely nice looking and blend in, in my kitchen space. They are easy to clean. While this system is well designed and has buttons on each side for quick release to remove the inner bucket, they are a bit hard. While this system is well designed and has buttons on each side for quick release to remove the inner bucket, they are a bit hard. I have some weakness in my hands but I am still able to get them out, though not as easily as I had hoped. Also, these are listed as white, but they are not a pure white. I wouldn't even call them an off-white. They are actually more like a light light beige. So if you have white cabinets like me just know there will be some contrast. I also really love the size of these. As I have some physical ailments and limitations I really needed something on the smaller side (compared to a 5 gallon bucket, ain't no way I could lift that when full). These are the perfect size. They are about the size of my bathroom trash can or there abouts. When full, I have no problem lifting even though I have considerable weakness. And I was a bit worried that these have a twist off knob to let the bokashi juice out. I thought the spigot would be easier but after working with these, I'm actually glad they don't have the spigot. I think the twist knob is more airtight and better for the bokashi. Also when the bokashi juice does drain it is not like thin juice it can be clumpy. Not sure how that would make it out of the spigot. These are also sturdy. The don't tump over or anything. And it's nice that the carrying strap is removeable. I'm very happy I purchased these over the others I was looking at and would recommend to friends.
It is very simple to layer the food scraps. No mess. It doesn’t allow any smell to escape when close (unlike a ceramic counter top composter). It sits on the floor next to my kitchen trash can. I am almost ready to let it sit for the two weeks before burying the scraps. Can’t wait to see the results. I also love how easy it is to drain the liquid and either pour in my drain or mix with water to fertilize my plants. I am very happy with my purchase.
I liked the compost bucket but I decided in the end to sell it to a friend of mine who really wanted one. My original, simple compost bucket that is just a bucket with a lid is good enough for me. I am going to use that one. I filled your compost bucket once andused the bokashi to aid decompostion and it helped, but it was a slow process all the same. I generate a lot of vegetable waste in the kitchen and the bokashi did not work fast enough for me.It is a very well made bucket, I like the release cap at the bottom that allows the draining of liquid, that is an excellent feature. My friend was excited about that too.
This is my first adventure into composting. I investigated a few Bokashi systems and decided on this one. Satisfied with the first one, I purchased a second. A well made product. The only thing that I would change, would be a tighter top lid. The inner lid sits in snugly making for an anaerobic atmosphere.
