These are jammy, fruity australian wines at a good prices. Pretty consistent from year to year. They market it as Australias No 1 selling red and you can see why. Easy to drink and enjoyed by everyone at our most recent barbecue. It is not the most sophisticated red but that wasnt what I was looking for when I bought these. Occasionally the price drops significantly and thats when I stock up.

Have Bought this wine for over a year now and up until my last delivery, last week its been fine, a bit fruity and on the sweet side. This batch is not the same. There is the same slightly sweet taste, but no where near as smooth. In fact rather a metallic taste at first. I noticed the award labels have shifted to the other side of the bottle, definitely not the same quality as the previous years. Quite quaffable with food, but a bit tinny on its own. Very cheap, so you get what you pay for.

I couldnt wait to crack this open when I received this, it hinted of great promise. With it simply being called red, I had slight concerns or would be like the cheap French table wines that make your toes curl with the harsh, dry and acid notes. I also wondered if this would be alternatively too mild on the palate due to the relatively low alcohol content for a red wine. What we found, by verdict, is a wine which is sweeter than a dry wine, almost a medium sweetness. Its a delicious shade of crimson and has a great flavour a little fruity, but not excessively so, and with enough complexities in the flavour to make every mouthful enjoyable. To us, it seems more like a 13.5 wine it certainly doesnt seem to be the 12.5 that it actually is, if that makes sense. To be enjoyed slowly. We think this is glorious for the price.

I am only a Shiraz wine drinker and found this wine lacking any depth or body. However, in saying that, if you are a variety red wine drinker and are not looking for the qualities of a good Shiraz then for the price this wine is maybe OK. For the Shiraz drinkers stick with the trusted Shiraz wine regions.
I dont much like red wine. Its usually to bold and dry for me. I know these expensive bottles are supposed to be wonderful, but I just find them to oaky and too astringent. This is definitely sweet, and for me much more palatable. So, if you love a dry Bordeaux, this is not for you. If you prefer something smoother and lighter, you might like this. I will buy it again.
I like a rich, deep red wine with plenty of body think shiraz, zinfandel, malbec etc... but this McGuigan red wine has me confused. Its really too sweet and slightly like cough medicine which leads me to believe that its a blend of grape varieties there is nothing on the bottle to say what grapes have been used. I think I bought it because of the brand awareness and high expectations but now there are five more bottles to get through and Im not looking forward to it. I expected more for 6 per bottle and I wont be buying again. Sorry.
All the Mcguigan wines are excellent but we particularly like this one. We’ve been buying this wine for a while now. It goes with everything and is very popular with friends and family. Particularly good value when there is an Asda offer
Sure, it's a cheap wine, and it tastes pretty smooth with no tannins or harshness. But it's completely uninteresting. It's the sort of stuff you'd find at the end of the table at a cheap and dull work party - though probably not in 10 Downing Street, as it has too much class for that.
Tastes and smells like ribena. I suspect it's rubbish wine with added berry concentrate or something similar. Not good.
I bought some of this wine before it was 2018 and was very nice. So when I saw it advertised again I decided to but some more. The only trouble is the date on the advertised bottle is 2018 BUT when I received my wine found out its not 2018 BUT 2019 and does not taste nearly as good as the 2018. If you are going to advertise a product at least make sure the you sell what you advertise.
