I used this pump in hospital when my little boy arrived prematurely. Whilst he was in the unit I used a different brand of pump at home and when visiting my son I used the double symphony. The one at home was far less superior. The symphony was so effective. The initate cycle is great for establishing your milk especially when you have a premature baby. There is so any different cycles you can use. You can adjust the suction and how fast the cycle is. This product is the best by far in my opinion.

Amazing, this machine made my life so much easier. If I had known about this with my first born, we would have been able to breastfeed I had no idea this even existed until my second child was premature. While in SCBU, I was introduced to this machine and despite my little one being unable to breastfeed,I was able to produce milk for her in 2 days. Thanks to this machine my poorly little one had an excellent start in life. Wish I could give it more stars!

I used this machine when my daughter was born prem at 29 weeks. She was in hospital for 12 weeks and i managed to fill up our freezer and half of my dads chest freezer with my milk so it didn't get wasted. It is so i. Sync with how a baby would feed it is scary

After an emergency c-section my breast milk took a while to come in. I still really wanted to give my little boy breast milk. I was advised to try pumping, and being able to hire the Medela Symphony has been a life saver.It has several modes to help start milk production, as well as maintain production once established. The machine also has several suction types to imitate a babys sucking. You can change the suction insensity, which is great and gentle on the breasts.I have been so impressed I ended up getting a personal double pump for when I have to travel. The symphony is quite big since it's hospital grade, but I have yet to find a pump that beats it in use (although medela's personal double pumps do a pretty good job despite being a bit noisier than this one).
I bought and tried different breast pumps and was so pleased when I finally decided to rent this one as I was finally able to pump properly. It has great suction strength and power, which is fully adjustable to what you want and I really like that it has two suction settings (initiate to get the milk flowing, and maintain which as expected is the main suction to keep the milk flowing out comfortably). It comes with a 24mm shield, which was a good fit but I did purchase the flex shield myself as I found them more comfortable. It is quite heavy, especially since I do take it to work with me, but this was a compromise that I was happy to accept as I finally had found a great pump. My baby was 6 weeks premature and this was the pump I used in hospital. When we left hospital I wanted to continue with a pump I liked so I rented this for a few months. I love it - the initiation setting was great in the early days to stimulate milk production, and I like the two phases of expressing which mimic baby’s natural sucking patterns. It was great to be able to rent the same pump I used in hospital as it made coming home so much easier knowing I already got on with this pump.
When I left hospital, I invested in two other big brand electric pumps but neither had the required level of suction or the sucking pattern to help me produce as much milk as the Medela Symphony I used when on NICU.I was so happy when I found out you could rent one. It’s so reliable and effective. I have a freezer full of breastmilk and can always count on my Medela Symphony to up my supply when I need to, following baby’s growth spurts. It’s made my expressing journey so stress free!
This set was purchased for use with a hospital grade pump, it was certainly very useful for us! We hired the pump and purchased this set which was certainly easy enough to use. I like the Medela brand. We had the Swing set for home but found the hospital grade pump more effective.
