I have purchased quite a few Melissa and Doug products, mainly for my grandson, but also for 2 niece's children. Everything has been exceptionally well made, is extremely educational, and is so much fun. The toys are engaging, keeping my grandson's attention for a long time. As a former educator, teaching in a primary school for my entire career, I am aware that these toys and activities are always age appropriate. I already have so many Melissa and Doug toys in mind for future birthdays and holidays!!

However, the 'joints' for the tops, bottoms, footwear, and head wear are specific for each outfit, so you can't really mix and match. This would be MUCH better if kids could mix tops and bottoms. Also, it would be great if there was a least one professional or more generic outfit for something like a lawyer, scientist, artist, business person, shop assistant, etc.. So many professions do not require specific attire, and it would encourage/allow kids to use their imaginations! Also, M&D, please (please, please!) consider your packaging! This set comes with a wooden tray for all the parts, but there's no lid. This a consistent complain across many of our M&D toys. I got this for my almost 6 year old Grandson for Christmas. He LOVES it! He has thanked me several times for it. I know he will get a lot of enjoyment from it for a very long time. He has several things from The Melissa and Doug collection. Never a disappointment. Very satisfied with the toys, variety and prices.

These boxes need lockable lids or covers. There are so many little pieces that storing them in kids rooms for easy access is just a disaster waiting to happen. We ordered these for a long car ride and I ended up putting them in a bag. You have many toys in these compartment boxes that NEED LIDS.
My grandson loves magnets on the refrigerator so when I saw these I thought they might be a hit. Was I ever right. He loves putting the magnetic suits on Joey as they take off to some imagined emergency. What a great thought builder.
Received this a few years ago for my oldest and my 2 year old now plays with it!! He loves it! I came to the site to buy him another, will probably get Julia. Out of 12 magnetic play sets, only one is geared towards boys. I'm okay with all play but there should definitely be more options for boys OR at least have other dress up outfits for girls that isn't all about princesses and queens.

This was a gift for my granddaughter-yes granddaughter. She loved "dressing" the Melissa a Doug Bear in a similar puzzle, so I ordered this one for her. She LOVES it. She stopped opening her birthday presents to play with it and had to dress all the characters before she would put it aside to open her other presents. I just wish there were a plastic cover to the box to keep all the little pieces from getting lost.

The boy set has a Knight, firefighter, police officer, pirate, super hero and construction worker (the set with a female has a doctor, chef, musician, artist, astronaut, firefighter, police officer and super hero). My little boy saw this and told me boys can't be doctors or astronauts, boys can only be police men, fire men and worker men (construction workers). I tried to explain to him boys and girls can be anything including doctors and construction workers but he still won't believe me as is Joey is his biggest role model right now. I'm so excited to give this to my grandson. It's a gift for him when he comes to visit this summer. I love the colors and the different outfits it comes with. I know he will enjoy playing with this toy.
