Great shoe! nice roomy toe area.. This is my 2nd pair.. I still have and use my 1st pair regularly to knock around in.. work related.. I have treated the suede leather of the first pair as they got older.. with a honey oil type shoe product that turned the outside darker and much more resistant to weather.. It is still in great functional shape and even the aesthetics are fine for most uses. The elastic is slightly wavy on this older pair.. but not really noticeable unless you are putting them on or taking them off..

I purchased this several years ago in my usual size, and kept it but it felt too small. I should have exchanged it. My toe was hitting into the front of the shoe. I thought it would get better with some break-in, but it did not. I took advantage of a 25% discount and purchased another pair a half size up, and it fits perfectly. I would advise try before you buy, and Merrell will do free exchanges, shipping on them (if I understand their policy correctly). Otherwise, this shoe is very comfortable. Even when it was a half size too small, I thought the construction, and the support was very good. I wouldn't be hiking long trails in them, but would definitely use them all day. I bought these to replace my company provided safety shoes. They are much lighter, fit better and look good. They meet our EHS standards as well. I no longer feel like I'm walking around with bricks on my feet. These are safety shoes so they are less flexible than normal shoes and take a few days to get broken in but once you get them broken in, they feel as good as any of my other Merrell's. No need to add insoles for comfort.

Just purchased my third pair of these shoes. First discovered the Moab Adventure Moc Shoe a little over five years ago, having not really worn slip on shoes besides loafers before. These shoes have converted me. My second pair isn't even showing much wear in the Vibram soles or leather upper - I just wanted to have a nicer looking pair to grab. I honestly have these on my feet five workdays a week and sometimes on weekends. Their looks are a great compromise between dressier shoes and athletic shoes. I've worn Jungle Mocs before for work and travel and loved them because of their arch support, but these feel really flat by comparison. It feels like my heels sit lower, or like the balls of the feet are raised up a bit. I didn't use any inserts, so maybe they need some. I walk about 10-20k steps a day, and after a few months of wearing these i developed crippling muscle pain on the tops of my feet from the way they changed my gait. Feels fine when my muscles are warm, but at the end of my shift I'd be limping, and hard to walk when I wake up in the morning. Switched into some other shoes for a few weeks and the pain went away. I've had two pairs of these and when I saw them on sales I jumped on it. Unfortunately the leather on mine was not great. The leather above the toe area was almost kind of puffy. The leather was super softs, showed wrinkles and bulged up. It just didn't look great compared to the harder leather I've had in the past where it sits flat across your toe, much like a shoe or sneaker would. I returned mine.

This is a great idea, but. I typically wear Merrell footwear like the Jungle Moc. When I saw this work shoe I was pretty excited. Ultimately, like many safety toe shoes there is not enough room for your toes under the toe protection. I fit most Merrell shoes well, but this one with the safety toe is not wide enough at the toe area, the side of my toes rub on the safety toe. They hurt after an hour or so. Unfortunately they will not "wear in" like suede or leather because the composite toe is a hard material. I got them for half price so it was not a big loss experiment.
At first they were a little stiff, but I stuck it out and they broke in and now they are my favorite shoes, and everything else feels weak. The steel toe helps me to work in any environment safely. And the waterproof part helps me not to worry about the puddles and mud and rain and snow. And the fact that there are no laces keeps me going all day long. These shoes are amazing like armor from my feet and look great too. Convenient step in and out of, wonderful to wear all day long from eighta.m. to 8p.m.Highly recommended for those with an active lifestyle going in and out from office to the field.

The keys to securing the foot are IMO to grip it around the edge from below the ankle to just shy of the ball by keeping the upper flat enough to stay snug not by clamping down on just the highest point at the center but rather by wrapping across the sloping sides of the top tightly enough (while then receeding to grant plenty of room toward the front starting at the ball), and keeping the back close enough to ensure it catches the heel to create the internal traction that reliably brings the shoe with the foot. The Moab's heel is too far back to accomplish this well for me; it is only the pinch at my bridge/ball and just enough friction below my ankle that keeps them on.I do find sometimes that I wish the soles provided just a bit broader a platform, but they already balance that pretty well with maintaining the beloved foot-contoured feel and swooped-up Moc sole aesthetic. Again, the new Moab work boot represents, if you'll pardon the expression, a step in the right direction, but for at least my casual usage needs I hope still to see roomier footbeds and with them a broadened sole platform (including broader heel support) in future while keeping the clean, simple look of a 1-piece front.I soaked the uppers thoroughly in the rain the first day I had them right on my way home from the store where I bought them, but you'd never have known it a few days later. My socks got a little wet but "waterproof" with these really just means the uppers won't show spots, and that has certainly proven true (reviews leave me in no doubt that Merrill's products marketed as waterproof in top billing are indeed so for the feet). I'm just glad to have durable uppers that keep looking great with little effort in the way of maintenance. I've gotten them wet many times in the several years since and they've not become the slightest bit blotchy.I have almost fallen several times as the Vibram slipped on a barely-wet walkway but I blame that on the fact that the walkway itself was treated (by property managers) with a sealant that created an extraordinarily smooth surface made even worse by the nobby texture of the walkway's underlying material denying contact patches of any appreciable breadth, but it's something to maybe keep in mind. Everywhere else but that one treated walkway the Vibram soles' traction has been almost unbelievably good!I love Moab Moc over Jungle Moc for the fabric ankle and heel areas. That alone is enough to place my loyalty squarely with Moab Moc. Just to make that crystal clear.This still is a very good shoe I recommend for many/most who have wide feet, but I do hope Merrill continues to innovate in areas where remain room to improve.
