This was going to be a 2-star review, but the website's inability to allowing me to upload a photo of my torn shoe brought it down to a 1-star.I brought this shoe 1 month ago, and it does keep my feet dry and have good grip (hence the 2-stars), however it doesn't last more than a month of hiking before the top fabric gets penetrated by a stick and starts to rip. I probably wont be buying this shoe again because of this.

Merrell makes some great boots. They make awful shoes. These are just designed like hiking boots without the ankle support. The sole is too stiff for a shoe, and the heel support is completely absent, so it is impossible to get a good fit for hiking without heel rub. If you prefer shoes to boots, do yourself a favor and buy trail running shoes instead of these.

I've had MOAB SPEED sneakers for a few years now. My oldest pair, maybe circa 2022, were built well and very comfortable. They didn't specifically say "gore tex" but have the same covering on the outer top side. My 2023 pair are also fairing well but feel just a bit lighter. The 2022s are padded very well, and feel very substantial and comfortable even after 2 years. The 23s are holding up well but feel a little "cheaper" and thinner/lighter. The 2024 SPEED GT definitely feel "the cheapest" and this makes me sad since the price is nearly 2x what I paid for the 22s. The tongue is a little narrower and shorter. The sole material design is the same but feels lighter. The sides and interior feels thinner, and cheaper as well. I am VERY disappointed that Merrell is clearly charging more for what feels like a poorer quality product. I guess time will tell how well they feel and last, I have not worn them daily (trying to keep them nice). On the positive side, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bright orange color, and I also like the lavendar and couldn't decide so I got both at the same time.

This is the first pair of goretex shoes I’ve ever owned. I personally think the large branding is pretty cool but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Anyways I use these primarily for dog walking on rainy/lightly snowy days and they work a charm when it comes to keeping your toes dry. If your feet tend to get hot you may want to avoid wearing them on warmer wet days because the ventilation does suffer with the waterproofing. Overall these are extremely comfy, and to me, stylish sneakers which is why I own a couple pairs. If I was really ballin I’d probably own a couple more!
I’m very surprised most of the reviews say “true to size” - this was not the case for me. I love Merrell, and this is the 1st bad experience I’ve had with poor fit.My foot is size 10.5 D (using foot measuring tool). I’ve always been a size 10.5 with Merrell (and others) for the last 10+ years. I had to order these 3 times (10.5, 11, 11.5) to finally receive the right size (11.5 - never worn that large before; usually I’d be swimming in it) and now have to ship back the other 2 smaller pairs. The length is ok (on the shorter end), but the width is very narrow with a low volume toe box. A size 10.5 was painfully tight in the toe box, and too loose at the heel (slipped a lot). It was also painful at the shank & heel cup - just wasn’t sitting right. Even with a full size up, it still crowds the outside of my toes, but definitely better (should stretch though with wear). Ironically, the larger shoe does not slip like the smaller one. Adding a more cushioned insole also helps.I still really like the style, just wish sizing wasn’t a hassle. I’d recommend going 1 to 1.5 sizes up if you have normal (D) width feet. Can always add volume with insoles, but can’t remove it (the insoles are pretty thin to begin with).
Have had the white pair for about a week now and it does as advertised. Durability and water proof are up to standard along side a great look. I’m obsessed with the big GORE TEX text on the side. I hope the USA can get some of those other colors across the pond like orange!People said in other reviews to size up half size. I’m a 10.5-11 and just went with 11. Slightly roomier but I prefer it like that. Still fit enough to run and do all athletic activities
Shoe looks good, colour was a nice green. Traction and lockdown was good. However i was expecting some type of torsional plate (either TPU/Plastic or Carbon Fibre) under the midfoot for stability and rigidity while transitioning from heel to toe. The transition felt too sloppy.
Walked a few miles in these now. Very comfortable BUT the Goretex does mean your feet heat up in the warm weather. Also, great off road but a little hard on the feet when tramping pavements. All in all a good purchase and sure they will come into their own once winter comes.
Slippery sole. Like incredibly slippery on trails such as logs and rocks. I mean way more than other running shows. The tread is very squishy. Foam like not sturdy so with the massive heal you can easily roll your ankle. I have flat feet so keep that in mind my fit could be different. Water proofing is excellent and they look great but sadly not functional at all in real world application. Makes sense why sneaker shops sell it.
Took this shoe on a motorbike road trip through the whole of Vietnam and it held up great. Comfortable straight out the box and the goretex kept my socks dry even in all day rain while staying breathable on the more humid days. Water did get in through the top though (as with all shoes). A high top might be a fix to that but the overall convenience of this shoe is great. Can wear it anywhere with any outfit.
