DSW did not have this sandal in their store, so I ordered them online. I liked the convenience of being able to return them the DSW location nearby. I like the sandals, however, it’s too bad that they didn’t come in a wide width or have adjustable Velcro straps across the toes…the other straps are Velcro. I usually wear a 7 1/2, but after reading the comments, I ordered the 7 and I’m glad I did. These sandals only came in whole sizes. I can wear these sandals in place of my clunky Merrill sneakers on vacation. They look well with shorts, skorts, slacks and casual dresses.

Merrell never disappoints! These sandals are the perfect blend between sport and stylist. They have nice support, have a leather strap that will only get more comfortable with wear, and the strappy details look cute enough from the top to wear with jeans, shorts, or a casual dress as well as with athletic cloths. I'm so happy I found these and love how versatile they are!

I have had multiple pairs of the Sandspur Rose Sandal over the past few years. However, in the past six months or so, the style changed (despite the name not changing). Instead of having the adjustable strap over the top of the foot as in the past, it is not behind the heel. As someone with wider and fatter feet, this has made the shoes less comfortable and tighter on the top of my foot, and after a long day when my feet are swollen, there is no room to adjust. :( It's sad, because I used to LOVE these sandals and would wear them for anything and everything. If you have skinner feet, this may not be an issue, but if you want room to adjust, you really don't have any.
Hey, "Light and Comfy" (Laura) --How did you go down 1/2 size when this shoe ONLY comes in full sizes? Went to store to try on--8 was HUGE (I wear 81/2) & the 7 was painfully small (I wear an 81/2)Manufacturer left me no choice but to go with another brand. Bummed out-these are halfway to a more feminine hiking sandal. So tired of the black and grey or ugly dark combo colors that can only be worn on a mountain.
True to size, little toe does not fall out the side (a problem with many sandals) . Contoured sole took a little getting used to but it prevents the shoe sliding when walking or riding a bike. Comfortable for simple hiking (it is open toe, not enclosed toe , so I don’t wear this shoe for major hikes with rock climbing) and yet also wore for smart casual attire in an upmarket resort restsurant. Already had and love merrell hiking boots so i bought the sandal online and knew that the shoe shape would probably suit my foot (it did). Great brand.
I have flat feet along with ankle issues. I had surgery for anterior tibial tendonitis on one foot. These shoes are medium arch support. I can walk a little but not alot in these shoes. I bought these because they'd go good with some of my dress and skirts, actually just about anything. I ended up by a size 7 even though I normally wear a size 8 or 8 1/2 in some sneakers

I have fairly flat feet and want arch support, which Merrell provides in just the right shape in just the right spot on the footbed, not too far forward like in some other shoe brands reputed to be super comfy. (Those other brands make me feel like I'm being tortured by something hard placed under my foot where it doesn't fit.). Also, most shoe brands with velcro straps have the straps designed so that there's not much variation in how tightly they can be adjusted. My feet are moderately wide in front but narrow in the heel; and bc my feet are rather flat, if I want the straps to fit securely, I need to pull them farther than many shoes will allow. Also, please note that there are three -- count them: 3 -- different adjustment points for a perfect custom fit. I love them.
My feet often hurt, so it's hard for me to choose comfortable sandals. They are all either too narrow, or have uncomfortable straps, or the foot is slippery in them. These sandals, in this version, the strap settings are simply brilliant. I bought a brown one, but when I realized that these are my "sandals of life", I immediately ordered black ones, which also look great. DSW - please bring more colors. It's summer now and we want these cool sandals in summer colors.
Really love my new sandals. I love the look of them as although they are functional, they cross over into 'allowable' office sandals that look feminine, with the finished embellished stitching elevating these features. They feel really good on my foot, and I love wearing them. I would kind of like them to also feature the ability to adjust the 'width' strap securing the toes to the sandals, as my foot is perhaps a little narrower than some, however I guess this would then denigrate the look of the product. But I am happy nevertheless. Top marks for Merrell for creating a functional and yet femininely-stylish product.
