Rode these on my 09 street glide, jnstalled in 2021. Bad vibration from day 1 to the last day, feels like engine vibration all the way up to the grips amd even distorts the mirrors, but only while riding straight up. As soon as I leaned a bit in turns, smooth as glass; straightened back up, solid virbation. This was about a year ago, I swapped to Metzlers and had ZERO issues with the tires riding straight. No vibrations on Metzlers at all. Rode a friend's bike with newer commander III, still has the plaguing vibration issue. Must be Michellin's center compound, cause it's causing my hands to go numb just from the vibration. Not to mention, it burned my fender back in 2021 cause it's a taller profile tire. Check fitment before running it down the road or you'll wind ... MoreRode these on my 09 street glide, jnstalled in 2021. Check fitment before running it down the road or you'll wind up a damaged fender amd possible blowout. It is NOT the same profile as the Commander II. Would never recommend this tire to anyone. Lastly, I worked in a shop for a bit. Too many people came in for the Commander IIIs and then turned right back around a week later and had them swapped due to vibration. This is not just a "lot" of bad tires, this is an entire design flaw that must be fixed Michellin.

Had the same issue as many. Horrible handling, I even went into a death wobble. I only went to a III because it was post COVID and could not get the IIs where I am. Replaced with a II and all my issues went away. Talked to customer service, told them my issues and that the tire was a piece of junk at best, and was told "I'm sorry you feel that way", which means we all know what. I was told they were not recommended for cruisers so there was no warranty. Rather interesting when I chacked and all I see is " https://www.michelin.ca/en/motorcycle/tires/michelin-commander-iii-cruiser" when I look them up. DO NOT buy this tire. It is dangerous.

For my 06 FXSTS springer I bought commander III's for front and rear, because I couldn't get my rear tire size in the commander II's!When installed, I immediately noticed a buzz/vibration in tires, at speeds above 40 miles per hour!!! Never had this problem with commander II's! I first thought I had bad wheel bearing! Replaced bears made no difference!! I was stumped! Installed the commander III's on my 07 FXSTSSE springer and immediately noticed the same annoying problems with the tires! Buzzing/vibrating! Feel in my hands!!I have run commander II's for many years! Never felt this!! I wont never buy commander III's again!! Hate them!!! DO NOT BUY!

looking to get the third one for this bike! handles perfect wet or dry full load and a passenger. I just returned from another 2 week trip on this rear 2881mi. VA, WVA,MD,PA,NY,CT,MA,VT. last year similar trip. over 10k hard riding dragging pegs around corners through the mountains and fast straight line highway. I do proper maintenance on my bike including regular tire pressure checks.
To begin, I hope this helps someone on the fence about these tires. I'm certainly glad I've purchased a set of Commander III's.I own a 2016 Street Glide, and over the years I've run both HD and Dunlop tires (same compounds, just different tread patterns). Being a creature of habit, and not one for change, I've shied away from any other brands. Many of my friends had made the switch, and were very happy, but I remained loyal to the HDs.I almost purchased a set of Commander II series tires the last time around and became skeptical after hearing rumors of warbling with Commander III. Nevertheless, I decided to take a chance after owning a set of Michelin truck tires and being extremely happy!I love them! Sticky to the road, great ride, very stable. Full disclosure: I just put these on and have driven a total of 0 miles. My only feedback is that they are pretty stiff and while I was able to put the rear tire on without too much of a fight (140/90-15, reinforced), the front tire (100/90-19) made me sweat. putting it on the rim went fine, but when the time came to inflate it, it took me almost a dozen attempts with various tricks and lubricants to make it finally pop onto the bead uniformly all around the rim. For several hours it kept popping in on 80% of the circumference, and was getting pinched in one place. I finally got it, but it took a fight. The rim was clean etc...
Had front and rear tires installed on my bike 23 July 2024. They are the ones that were made after 2022. I rode from Pa to Daytona Fl, down to the southern tip of Key West back up the state into Ga and then on through 13 other states to include riding through Hurricane Debbie while riding through Florida. This trip also included going into Canada and then on to Homer Alaska and then back to Pa. Round trip was over 16,000 miles in roughly 22 days. The only issue I have had to this point is with the front tire. It is feathering. No issues with vibration and the rear tire is still going strong. I rode through many different temperatures in a single day. Rode some roads that my Road Glide def shouldn't have been on. I had no problems or ever felt concerned. I bought the Commander III's (Because they no longer offer a Commander II 200/55/17 rear tire) for my 2006 FXSTS Springer and my 2007 FXSTSSE springer.! I installed these front tires on my 06 first. I immediately noticed I have a vibration/buzzing above 40 miles per hr!!! very annoying! makes my hands tinkle and go to sleep! At first I though i had front wheel bearings going bad. I contacted Dennis Kirks to get authorization to return them. Dennis Kirks has sent me return labels. They will send to Michelin to see if they will warranty them. Cross my fingers! for a refund! I wont be buying anymore Michelin Commander Tires!!!
I am a loyal Michelin product guy. I have their tires on my Motorhome, Genesis, Honda CRv, Jeep Wrangkler and now my 2016 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Limited.. I swapped out the Dunlop American Elite's I had on the bike, (with only 4k miles) and went with the Commander III's . I have a 4k mile trip coming up the end of the month(7/2022)and wanted the best tires on the market for this "bucket list" journey. I had heard great reviews on the silica compound tire that was advertised as Michelin's "Best of the best" and having their tires on everything else I drive I thought "why not"! I love the design and handling of the Commander III's but being 100% honest, I am replacing the front tire with only 300 miles on it. I love the design and handling of the Commander III's but being 100% honest, I am replacing the front tire with only 300 miles on it. The vibration and "humming" from the tire is terrible. Between 25 and 45 MPH, when traveling in a straight line, the vibration is unbearable. If you corner or bring the tire off center, the vibration and hum go away. I had the Commander III's installed 4 days ago and am quiet disappointed. I spoke to the bike shop that I purchased the tires from and had them balances and mounted, and was told to contact Michelin direct with my concerns. I am calling their Customer Service tomorrow (6/27/22) and will follow this review with the outcome. I'm sure it's simply a flaw with the design in the front tire. I'm reading the exact same concerns in other comments posted. By the way, as of right now, the rear tire rides AMAZING!! I will not rate anything Michelin makes with less than 5 plus stars. I love their tires and hopefully will post another comment on how awesome their Customer Service was in helping me resolve this issue. "The OTHER Michelin Man" JW smith
Ive recently rounded off 8000 miles with a set of commander 3's on my 2014 street glide special, i can confidently say i have never been more disappointed in a set of tires. Over the years i believe ive tried every major brand on multiple bikes, through a mix of urban commuting and long distance touring. These had an odd vibration when they were new and i gave them the benefit of the doubt and believed they might just need time to wear in a little, after 8000 miles theyre going in the trash, they have been balanced multiple times, and currently have balance beads in them, still vibrate like theyre not round. i wouldnt recommend these tires to someone i didnt like. use your money buying something else and leave these alone. i will admit they have adequate grip in the ... MoreIve recently rounded off 8000 miles with a set of commander 3's on my 2014 street glide special, i can confidently say i have never been more disappointed in a set of tires.
