We have never had a cat, and ending up adopting a kitty that we believe had been dumped. We initially purchased regular clumping litter, and after a week it just stunk. Not only did it not absorb odor, but it also ended up tracked all of our tile floor, which drove me nuts. So along with all of the vaccuuming I was doing, I researched several pellet litters, and decided to give Michu a try. I ordered 2 bags of watermelon and 2 bags of ocean fresh. We are currently using the watermelon and I will never buy the regular clay clumping litter again. This stuff is great! There is no odor when using Michu, and it clumps great- both pee and poo. It costs more than traditional litter, but it is so worth it. I plan to begin autoship once I'm ready to order again. I love this litter. Sometimes it gets sticky, gooey but turn scooper over and scrape under the chunks and it will cover the goo with mix and then scoop out. I don’t use this alone though. I use both the green tofu and the white mixed tofu. I find when together it makes absorbing and scooping easier. I did not gradually transition cats. I dumped their old and started this new tofu type litter and they went right to it. They used immediately and continue to use. My cats no long have a perfuming litter smell on their coats. The tofu has little odor and if any it smells good. Very LOW, if any, dust. I no longer breathe in horrible amounts of litter dust when scooping for 3 cats.

I am using 2 bags of this litter in a XL litter box. Of my 3 available litter boxes, it seems like my boys are only using the box with this litter now (they must know how expensive it is). Pouring the bags into the box, I did not notice any dust (which is the main reason I wanted to try this litter). There is a scent to this littler, but I cannot describe what it is. It's not very strong though, but simultaneously is strong enough to trap the scent of cat urine (I lifted one of the clumps to my nose when I was cleaning and I could not smell pee). Tracking of this litter seems pretty good, with only a few pieces tracking out with each trip. I will say that you want to make sure your scooper can accommodate letting the larger cylindrical pieces of fall out, as the one ... MoreI am using 2 bags of this litter in a XL litter box. I'm curious to see how this litter holds up over time as they give a disclaimer that humidity can cause it to deteriorate (I'm in Florida), so hopefully it wasn't a mistake for me to use 2 bags at once. Will update this review if something remarkable happens. Four out of 5 stars just for the sifting issue with my scooper, and I'm not even sure that's fair.

We have been searching all year for a litter that works for the apartment. We live in a smaller and carpeted space. We’ve tried clay, wheat, corn, crystal and even wood pellet litter all have which either tracked too much and smelled awful. We have a top entry litter box. I was feeling hopeless until we finally tried Michu Tofu litter. The boys in my house say it smells like caramel and sweet. It’s been a month and there is no litter smell at all!!! Urine doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan there’s no scraping needed it’s clumps amazingly AND the pieces are large enough to not track everywhere. Other scented litters only mask the smell of cat poop and pee and don’t mesh well creating that typical cat smell in the house. This litter TOTALLY changed the game. I currently have 13 cats I care for. At this point I think I have tried every brand of litter on the market, from the basic stores brands to more natural premium brands. It may cost more than similar options out there, but I swear it is worth every penny from a cleaning multiple times a day standpoint as well as just from a price point. I use less overall and can go longer between emptying out the entire pan because the clumps are completely solid and don't stick to the edge of the litter pan. There is less dust too, both when they use it as well as when I am cleaning and refilling the litter boxes. Not only am I asthmatic, but two of my cats are so this is extremely important to me. It does track some, but I have yet to find a litter that doesn't. (A good litter ... MoreI currently have 13 cats I care for. I've been using Michu for a little over a year and I love it. We all know clay litter sucks. I tried a few different cat litter alternatives before coming to Michu. I tried pine pellets, I tried a generic silica crystal litter, and I tried Pretty Litter. The pine didn't clump, so I had to use a sifting litter box and it smelled like pee-soaked wood chips, because that's what it was. The generic silica litter and pretty litter were pretty much the same. It was good at minimizing odor but it tracked EVERYWHERE and having sharp silica crystals all over my floor was no good. Then I found Michu! It was good for the environment, my cat didn't track it nearly as much as silica or clay litter, and it did decently well on odor control. Then I found Michu! It was good for the environment, my cat didn't track it nearly as much as silica or clay litter, and it did decently well on odor control. It's relatively inexpensive since one small bag lasts about a month and I can save by subscribing. I also purchased a litter box from furrytail and my cat and I both love it. It also has a platform for litter to be captured so it doesn't track as much.
Excellent clumping, minimal tracking and peeing outside the litter box issue solved! One of my cats used to frequently pee outside the litter box (at least once a week, usually right next to the litter box or nearby - this was with the wood pellet litter and he would try and make himself comfortable inside the litter box before deciding he didn't want to use it). I suppose the wood pellet was a bit harsh on his paws. I switched to the clay clumping litter and this solved his 'peeing outside the litter box' issue. However, the tracking with the clay clumping litter was terrible and I found myself vacuuming twice a day. This tofu litter is the best of all worlds IMO - very minimal tracking, excellent clumping, soft on cat paws and no more peeing outside the litter box.
It’s just so pretty! I bought one watermelon and one original of this litter, and mix them together, it looks like candy! When my cats noticed this new litter, one of them instantly got into the box and used it. All my six cats chose to use it soon after, though we have more different litter in other litter boxes, it’s my cats’ choice. And when I started to scoop, the urine is clumped firmly, and the poops were dry but not fully covered by the litter, I guess that’s why it’s good for multi-cat families because it’s litter-saving. It have been one week and though I only bought 2 bags, the litter doesn’t seem to be visibly consuming. Definitely will repurchase.
My cat has been in my care for just over six months (fostered, then adopted) and has trialled numerous litters in that time, but it seems like we've finally found the one! She's very sensitive and has a strong preference for toileting on soft surfaces. She has always had a variety of litter options available at any given time, but prior to trying Michu the only way I could get her to consistently use a litter tray was by providing litter trays lined with puppy pee pads. They're not the most environmentally friendly option and would often soak through quickly, leaving her with wet feet - better than the alternative of her toileting on the floor or bed, but still far from ideal. I tried Michu specifically because it's advertised as being soft and gentle on paws. I agree with all of the other reviews about it being dust-free, easy to clean, odour eliminating, and all that jazz, but that's all just added bonuses for me. The really great thing about this litter is how soft it is for sensitive cats. My cat loves it and is finally using litter consistently!
I have been using quality clumping clay for a while (i.e. trix, etc) before I decided to give this tofu thing a go. Here's some points to consider: * Tofu clumps well BUT does not filter thru the scopes well due to its noodle shapes. *Tofu does not cover the poo unless there is enough moisture around it to stick. *This particular brand doesn't have much of a scent to it (in fact, I don't really like the smell, it's not awful or anything, but it's just not nice either. I recommend the grapefruit zodiac one!). * Tofu is great in reducing dust! * Tofu is much lighter than clay. Despite getting a 3kg tofu vs 10kg of clay, I was surprised to realize that it wasn't that I was getting better value with my clay compare to the weight of it, the tofu was just much light and ... MoreI have been using quality clumping clay for a while (i.e. trix, etc) before I decided to give this tofu thing a go. So there you have it, the pros and cons of 2 two different litter products. Hope that helps. Cheers Lisa
